Im a farmer citrus grower here in Florida and when I can't fix something i will have a freelance mechanic come by like you. I have nothing but respect for you. The work you do is extremely hard and the pay at best is probably just fair. Anyway I think you are a badass. Keep up the videos i have watched a lot of them very informative. I always learn a few things from watching a pro like you. Thank you.

Holy Shit. The oil feed tube is broke and been broke for a while. Never seen that before. That explains why #4 is down from lack of oil. It's the last cylinder to receive it also explains the wear on the valve stem/valve stem seal. That's a first for me. I've built quite a few of the deere 4 and 6's haven't come across that ordeal.

Now that your back feels better, strengthen it. I had a herniated disc and I had 3 months of physical therapy to strengthen my back and they taught me some stretches to do and I'm telling you 10 minutes a day while listening to music or a podcast even watching KZbin and I don't have to live on muscle relaxers anymore.

We had 6 cylinder John Deere's on a large sea going Oil Barge that drove our Ballast Pumps. They were great little engines but they were on deck so they were exposed to Salt Air and just about everything that bolted to the engine rotted off within a couple of years. We had Lube Oil, Fuel Oil and Cooling Water lines rot out and blow apart. Besides that the engines themselves were pretty bullet proof. These engines were abused, cold starts and then revved up but they kept right on running!

Using the crane wherever you can. That's just working smart. The disks in our backs don't give us pain until they're damaged, and when they're damaged they stay damaged, they don't heal.

I remember when those tractors were first introduced back in the early 90's especially seeing a pamphlet how the cab could be tiltled over by removing the wheel aswel as an engine mounted on a rails just like a truck as well as an option of an side exhaust mounted on the cab piller and thought it was a great idea for loaders because of them being more less likely to brake at the bellhouseing.

Hello Warren. That lifting gear you have on the truck is marvelous. Some of the stuff we do we still lift by hand ✋. But I decline in doing it now. The guy I work for is a bit silly that way. I'm 66 years old not 26. He should have more sense. He's older than me.

We’ve done seven or eight pf those front axle pivots in the last year. Sometimes they get caught early and we can just put bushings back in them but most of the time they get new axle housings. Some customers even put remote greaserts out to the frames so the cowboys kinda grease them

I recently found your channel and have been watching about all of the videos you put out. I am a shade tree mechanic when I have to be only. I really enjoy your videos and commentary as you explain what you are doing in such a way even a DA like me can understand most of what you are doing. I have never worked on any heavy equipment any watching you it probably is a good thing I don't. I see you use some Harbor Freight tools as I do for special one time jobs as I do not have to depend on them for a living. I love your magnetic light and wonder who makes it as I would love to get one for when I actually have to be a mechanic. Keep up the good videos as I certainly enjoy watching them and have learned a ton of things from watching them.

About your coveralls. The humidity is very low out there too. They would be pretty uncomfortable in Houston most of the time in a non A.C. shop. Would you do a gas engine and maybe a popular 4 or 5 speed manual tranny overhaul sometime. Much respect for your great work ethic and videos. Thankyou.

Holy smoke never seen an axle housing that worn out before. Loaders are great attachments but they cause a lot of problems too. Even with a good regular greasing there is so much more wear caused by that added weight. I have a 1975 2020 that would put that one to shame on blow by. Belonged to my father in law who has since passed. Gonna have to dig into it one day I guess and fix it. He wouldn't spend the money. His philosophy was getting it cranked "just one more time" to use it. Guess that is how he died with a boat load of money..........

Excellent had to laugh when you said that bit about whipping that cylinder head off when you were young. haha I remember doing that regulary and yes back is absolutely bugger so bad now I can't work. I know people might think I am a blow hard but I did alot of work on those tractors ....in fact JD had what we called a flat rate manual and to remove piston and liners and replace with a liner kit they paid only 8hrs. Normally we would not remove the oil pump pick just work round it with extensions. You are very lucky somebody must of been on your side because wow what redo that job could of been. Originally JD had a massive PIP (Product Improvement Programme) for those early engines , a cavitation problem the clearances with pistons between the liners was to much and cause pitting in the liners sometimes so bad water would get into the sump. JD or even after market now will have complete piston liner kit you can instal in as one unit or I'd imagine like Cat complete engine overhaul kits. oh yeah if Grant Hodge doesnt believe I am a expert on early JD's check this clip kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3OpeGuMopyir5I

I don't know if this would work with this engine but I've seen it done on a Ford cylinder head. With the valves closed, pour some water into the ports and see if it leaks through on the combustion side. Nice to see you rebuilding this old girl. Even with correct maintenance diesels need to be rebuilt eventually, at what hours do you normally see it that they need rebuilding, just curious?

Blow by only comes from the ring area. Over heated ,or air filter blown out and holes blown in.ether used to start will crack rings and ring lands.recessed valves cause Lowe compression not blow by.

Hi, Warren, thank you for showing us how. In some books, some other videos, and certainly some folks have a cow about keeping the pushrods organized so they go back in the same hole they came out of. It never made sense to me tho I suppose they might wear in to the rockers- I assume Ill set the gaps and probably set em again after a few hundred hours since its my own stuff I work on. You didnt seem to care which one goes back in which hole. Do you know why some people make the effort to keep em orgamized? I dont.

Out of curiosity, how would valve seats cause excess pressure in the crank case? For some reason in my mind I’m thinking intake ports and exhaust ports do not meet crank case. Would have to be getting past the rings. If I am missing or not understating something I would like to understand.
