When I was a young kid in my first year of serious lifting (1993 I think) I had a powerlifting USA magazine and Loui Simmons had an article with his phone number in it. I called him up and he talked to me for like a half hour. I am very appreciative for that!

You'd be surprised what I have for around $400. Rack, hex, etc. 600 total lbs and it sits behind my couch in the living room. It doesn't matter how pretty, if it weighs, it weighs. Chains and bands are cheap. Technique is king. I used to work out alone before covid, now I'm charging for workouts.

Love your your videos Mr. Simmons. The information that you've shared over the years falls right in line with my college strength and conditioning coach preached and taught us. And I use the same method when training my athletes, that was taught to me back when I played football in college. I'm a firm believer of if it ain't broke don't fix it. I like like a lot if trainers are trying to rearrange the wheel as opposed to keeping it rolling if that makes sense. Looking back at some if your old videos, falls in line with the bigger, faster, stronger programs that major colleges have been and still are using. Thank you for continuing to share your wealth if knowledge Sir!!!!.

Louie- If you ever have the time, I would really appreciate a video for those of us that are beat up really bad in the shoulders for work arounds to keep our pressing strong. I recently ruptured the long head on my right bicep and my left shoulder has something going on also. I can barely press(barbell or dumbbell) or do dips on parallel bars, but the odd thing I can do handstand pushups, Ring Dips and Ring Pushups with virtually no pain. I've already decided I'm going to push my extensions up and hopefully be able to JM Press with little to no pain. I remember you talking before about if you want to bench press a certain weight you need to have the upper back, lats and triceps of whatever number you're shooting for so thats going to be one of my main focus points. Appreciate it- Jeff

@@WestsideBarbellOfficial Outstanding! I called and talked with Lou way back in 98. He talked on the phone with me for a good while. I pulled out the old sled yesterday and did some upper body work with it after thinking back on a lot of things Lou has talked about for GPP and recovery. I really liked it and I am going to add a lot of it back in as I think it will really help me. If Jake Anderson is still training up there, tell him Jeff Roark from Clay county says hello. I got to train with him years ago down at a guy named Jason Parman's gym Spartan Barbell. We squatted and deadlifted and he was a monster back then. Watched him pull 500lbs for something like 16 or 17 reps. Crazy strong and a super guy.- Jeff Roark

To maximize hip flexor activation during training. However for competition the stance is usually brought in a little bit for optimal leverage. This is person to person dependent due to limb length and hip mobility.
