Don’t be afraid to drench the print head in water. I honestly did this as a last resort & it worked. I used an old soap bottle with a fine tip to spray each color individually. I also let warm water puddle to where water was going into each color simultaneously. I went as far as wetting the electronics which I don’t recommend. I made sure to blow dry the unit thoroughly & after installation all codes went away & it worked like new !

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8630 which was giving me print issues. One day when I went to use it the front display said Printer Failure. So I looked on Amazon and ordered a new HP Printhead for 108 dollars. I installed it today with new 3rd party ink cartridges and so far it is working like new again. The printhead cost about 1/3 of the price I paid for the printer brand new but I think it was worth it because it is one less printer going into the landfill. I will see how long it lasts.

Good plan. It's a work horse, so you should get more years of service. Glad it worked.

@@benjaminmathew4108 I agree with you, if I ever do buy a new printer again it will be a printer from Canon with an ink tank. But for now my HP printer is still printing good with the print head I bought for it 4 months or so ago.

You need using windex glass cleaner you need more solution than water like alcohol also need more time ..also the cause may be the rear back coonectors not work or pressure in cartridge need alteration

Remove the Print Head from the contact panel (with the gold contacts) at the back of the printhead; Two small Torx screws and prise out the little ribbon connector at the top. Then gently fold the panel down and inspect the two gold contacts where the cartridge springs push on them. (Be very careful with the tiny springs) Two for each of the cartridges. These form the electrical connections to the printer from the cartridge and read the ink levels (sometime!). Clean the the eight sets of contacts with a cotton bud carefully. If the contacts clean well, reassemble and retest. If any are pitted or won't clean. Do the following (there are other videos on KZbin about this by the way) Cut 4 small pieces of aluminium foil and fold them so they are about 5 mm wide and may be ten high. Using a small piece of sticky tape to attach each piece of foil over each pair of contacts Ensure the foil does not overlap any other small contacts on the PCB Reassemble the rear panel and gently push the ribbon cable back into the receptacle at the top. Place the printhead back in the printer. Replace the ink and turn on. This worked for me and printing was restored instantly. Note you may have to wait for an alignment cycle to complete. Good Luck.

Great tip and opportunity to fix another potential problem. Thank you!
@ikester4754 ай бұрын
The foil trick will work HOWEVER be very careful not to let a cartridge run dry otherwise the printhead will burn out. That's because the foil bypasses detection of an empty cartridge.
@romanr.428717 күн бұрын
@@ikester475 I see, that means the goal of this quick fix is to short the contacts, not to make better contact with the small springs?

I had an extended warranty on my HP Officejet printer. Under warranty, they sent me another certified remanufactured printer but I installed a Cannon in its place since I didn't have time to wait for them to ship the replacement HP. When it arrived, I set it aside for months and months. Later, I pulled the Canon printer out, and began with the HP that they sent to me. It was actually the HP 8610. Opening the box, the instructions said to remove the printhead from the 8600, and reinstall it into the 8610. What a piece of crap that was. That was the problem with the 8600...the freekin printhead...those dumb shits. Out of warranty, I called them back to say the forgot to send me a complete printer with proper working parts...like the freekin printhead. They wouldn't do a thing. I could never go back to HP again, and their printers and the way they handle the ink cartridge debacle is fraudulent. They keep track of the number of pages you print, they have no way of knowing the level of ink in your cartridges, and if you try to use the same cartridges knowing theyy're still half full, they lock you out of even using your printer by the way they have the software installed and the updates to make. They are scammers at best.. So I got this brand new reman printer I'm about to throw away, but not before I put my foot into the glass, and get it where it belongs...into the garbage where it will be picked up by Waste Management this Friday.

Drop kick that thing! Just like cell phones and cars, they got us with the "warranty" scam. Sorry about that. I switched to an HP laser printer...and love it for basic printed pages. No fuss. More expensive but hassle free.

I appreciate your video. I have a HP 8710 but your print head was close enough to be helpful with my 8710 problem. I changed the print head with a $137. 00 head I found on Amazon. It seems to be improving but it is still a work in progress. I may use your method to clean the old head and see if that works. PS: The $137 head seemed to be used as one of the torx head screws had some corrosion. I may return the head to Amazon if this does not improve.

Is it possible to reset ink levels? Or do I need to retain old cartridges in order to programmatically cycle the cartridges I border to refill?
@westvalley411 Жыл бұрын
Well, HP warranty stipulates their cartridges are required. This ensures the ink level report is accurate. But I've used generics and refills with some success and a few glitches. I have not been able to manually reset levels.

It’s hard to see where your putting that hose
@ikester4754 ай бұрын
There are four long thin plastic nipples (3/32" OD) that a 3/32" ID hose can fit over. Be careful not to blow the thin plastic diaphragms over each reservoir (not shown in video) if using a syringe.

I have bought a printer for cheap because it had the same printhead as my printer. But it was not used i think more than a year and the ink has totally clogged the nozzles. When i tried to clean it only the magenta passes a little bit of solution through. 99% of the printhead is clogged with dried ink. I have tried to submerge the bottom of printhead into hot water, then carefully inject distilled water with alcohol into it at all color locations but unfotunately the nozzles are completely blocked, i cant even inject the solution because of the air inside which is trapped isnide. I am afraid of pushing the syringe harder because i can tear the foil. Do you have any solution for this special case how to clean completely dried up ink from the nozzles? Thank you

If the only problem is the printhead then I suggest as to replace just the printhead instead of replacing the whole thing. Sure its lifespan has passed but clearly its still working. Although if you have plenty of money to throw for a new one then sure why not.

Yup. I spent a few hundred overcost of new print head.. love the laser, never going back!

Would using an ultrasonic cleaner speed up the process without damaging the print heads? Of course, making sure the water doesn't touch the electrical contacts. Would this still require the WaterPic step? The ultrasound might dislodge clogs.
