This was clearly a gem of a show that I didn't get to until recently. I've gone through it twice so far and often research any questions I have. This is my favorite episode and is the one I had the hardest time keeping up with. The 35 year gap to present was easy for me to eventually recognize, however 35 to 30 crept passed me. You did an amazing job explaining everything, thank you.

The real world city in ep 2 is more likely to be Shanghai than Hong Kong as the Chinese text on the “SPACE 47” sign of the art gallery or coffee shop that Arnold and Delorus passed by before crossing the street is Simplified (used in China) rather than Traditional (used in Hong Kong or Taiwan).

I thought the episode was good. Poor Logan; he's so broken he became a junkie. Dolores is manipulating the fuck out of Teddy. She appears to recognize William at the retirement party- very odd. I'm Team Maeve; Dolores is a monster.

Yikes, it's hard for me to have any sympathy for the rich kid who has such ugly appetites - so to see Logan self medicating his inner demons was no surprise and wrought no wince from me. Maeve's probably going to win - but lose as well because humans are stupid. Dolores knows a lot and I honestly think she is correct in assessing the fact that if humanoids are not harnessed or vanquished - she and Teddy and all hosts will lose.

Delos was impressed with williams plans, but mainly the fact he had the balls to talk to him like that, that's why he gave him his chance, he earned his respect. Like he said, noone had talked to him that way in years, likely only his rivals or equals and they're all dead. Plus he hammered it home with the immortality pitch after that

Ironically, if Dolores HAD been ready to sell the hosts to Logan instead of Angela, things could have been very different. Logan would have diddled her, maybe meaning William might not have fallen in love with her and not have become the Man in Black.

i actually disagree with your assertion that william's judgment he received was from ford. i think he more than likely meant that which he has received from his daughter and posthumously, his wife. this familial judgment is the catalyst for his whole journey... that point when his daughter told him that his wife committed suicide and she and the daughter both were terrified of him, deciding that he was not worth living for or even with any longer... i think it is implied that william is perceived by his actions to be such a scary and dark man that his wife. considered committing suicide the better option than to continue to live in a world with william also living there. this is an extremely dark and telling indictment, of all the options his wife had to live separately from william she decided that none of them were safe enough for her from william, that death was the only true way to free herself and be safe from William.... this is a very dark and damming judgment of William. so i think its that judgement from his daughter and his wife posthumously that he is trying to redeem himself from and appeal that judgement and in turn to show his daughter he still has a heart, still cares with compassion, part of which could be freeing some of the hosts amd buring the entire experiement down. this all because of the realization what he built is evil, an extension of how dark and terrifying he allowed himself to become, surely lusting after and becoming intoxicated with power. remember william came to the park to die at first, accept his judgment on and die with his mistakes. now, i think due to ford's awakening, he sees a chance to right some wrongs and be the good guy, the hero he could've actually been all along... as he tells lawrence, "the men we could've been."
@KellieDoll286 жыл бұрын
andy. ec I agree; William's wife was a wealthy woman in her own right; she & Logan were the heirs to the Delos fortune. She could've afforded the best divorce attorney on the planet, but she never divorced him. We know he's extremely emotionally abusive, & 30 years of severe emotional abuse took it's toll- death was preferable to life with William.
@andyec-fp7cc6 жыл бұрын
KellieSand04 yeah, that's what i was alluding to, the fact that william's wife, as privileged as she was, could've picked 100+ different ways to end her marriage with william, but because of what she knew of william, what he did for a living, she chose the only path to peace was to go to sleep forever. i find it very interesting she poisoned herself before she died and also did it without announcement and expectation by william, preventing him from potentially uploading her conscience into a host for example.... i think that is a key to. what has happened here and why william is perceived to be so scary, because his wife realized, maybe through watching her father, james delos, how maddening it is to live forever and was terrified William would not let her die in peace, so she preempted that chance....

I don't think death is final at all for the hosts - this is the Passion of Tech Christ. Peter Abernathy is John the Baptist - the prophet who told all before it happened. Once Delores is crucified she will rise again - and then all the hosts will rise again on Judgement Day. We're just at the Holy Thursday in the Pascal calendar of this story, we still need Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter.

Maybe William is building the secret bunker that Charlotte took Maeve to, and now that Delores knows, so do Ford and Arnold. Perhaps the Hosts will clone the Guests and infiltrate the world in all its Splendor. The "weapon.” William could be racing to stop Delores. BTW, maybe all the Hosts died in E1, so Maeve could rebuild them without the C6 explosive devices. Do you think we’ll see a grownup William's daughter this season?

I love you guys. Got hooked on you from westworld S1, then went happily ballistic watching all your game of thrones stuff, and then hooked on your movie/show reviews. BUT, this was the worst review you guys have done to date. It felt like you were just reciting the events of the episode rather then giving your thoughts. I understand a certain amount of time is needed to explain the plot, but I come here for you guys... all of you... even teddy. (Actually, you the real mvp teddy. Your my fav. Every time "in the books" I fucking lose my shit. Ya, its a running gag, but you are awesome) Even if your not giving your best stuff, I am still here for your thoughts. Example: This scene: Blah blah blah. ~Next Scene Better version: This scene blah blah blah, I liked it. It reminded me of X. ~Next Scene Not everything needs to be that complex, or thought provoking. In my humble opinion, Your input is sort of like a conversation. Ya, albeit a little one sided. But, we watch these complex shows. Talk about it with our circle, and the listen to your thoughts to agree, disagree, or give new insight.

I am sure we are going to get armies - armies of Hectors, Delores', Teddys' Etc - all made by Delores (I bet some of that already happened during those 11 days) also how many Abernathy hosts are there out there - that would pose a problem for that package.

All the beauty of this world's history, biblical references this season, and last - right along with all the best of humanity - Mozart, Gallileo, Debussy, DaVinci, Michelangelo, and so much Shakespeare - I mean tons of Shakespeare quotes all over the place - so much so he and the apostles should have co-writing credits. It sometimes feels forced - I can't tell. I mean I can tell Arnold and Robert knew their classics - but really, all the non host alongside of the host speaking Biblical/Human Genius quotes. I can't tell if the writers are creating a monotheistic/humanoid war or a gods vs gods war or what. A few things that struck me are the security cars with no side doors? Skarsgaards walking around without a bullet proof vest. Right after the massacre? (unless he is also a host) A bit exposed aren't we? Or maybe that's just to show our hubris. Also the music cues are pretty nice, but so on the nose - Back to Black for Maeve and especially House of the Rising Sun (that one probably encapsulates this whole show). They signed the show on for a third season - which I'm not sure I like - I want to see who wins this war - judgement day is coming and right sooner - not later on this show. I hope to God (heh) that this is not a 8 season show. What is that damned weapon in the desert? Also - all those board members who were killed - I bet they come back to their lives alive and well in a future episode and none of this leaks out - Delos had their dna and could easily clone them as hosts - which makes me wonder if this is not the purpose of Delos - and the Man in Black asshole - to control the whole world through hosts of rich people. Maybe that's the weapon. William's ambition and Delos' hubris, and the question of "Why" from the innocent Teddy recalls Macbeth - here's a quote for them... I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself, And falls on th'other. . . . There was no reason for Macbeth to kill his cousin who was a good king except ambition. That top of the pyramid of consciousness maybe - that and hubris?
@KellieDoll286 жыл бұрын
Bobbie Fisher I noticed the same thing. Mr. Delos Executive is strolling around without full body armor & a bulletproof helmet. Once "freed" by Dolores, hosts have Deadshot's level of accuracy. I guess Mr. Skaarsgard is so bad-ass he's bulletproof. At least Charlotte is wearing a kevlar vest in the trailer.

Yup. If you look at the location 30 years prior you see the mountains jutting up behind it. Then post 11 days, you see the sea, with those same mountains now popping up as islands. That is the weapon.

I think the first scene with Delores and Arnold takes place even earlier than the demo that takes place with Logan, otherwise wouldn’t William see/meet Arnold at some point? And then recognize him un-aged in the parks in modern times? I think the first demo was a much earlier demo from before the park opened. Just my thoughts. Your timeline only works if you believe William knows Bernard is a host.
@amytaylor5556 жыл бұрын
Oh, and Charlie was already dead after the first massacre when the park needing funding from Delos. Arnold refers to Charlie as still alive in the scenes with Delores outside the park.

Logan never meets Arnold during the tech demo. By the time Logan goes to the park for the first time, Arnold is already dead and all info about him has been scrubbed from the records. Logan only knows that a partner died in the park.

Amy Gibbs Ford wants extra funding for the park, so he sets up the meeting with Logan Delos and other investors. However, Ford and Albert (Argos Initiative) still own the majority of the park. After Albert kills himself, the other investors start to pull out. Ford opens the park but doesn't have the funds to keep it open long without new investors. With the stock prices of AI plummeting, Logan wants William to back him in pitching the park to his father.

Kenda H I believe she became conscious at the end of season 1, when she chose to go after her daughter and stay in the park. Remember Bernard told her she had a new script and it was to escape and go to the mainland but she never went.

She is concious. In fact, between Dolorès and her, she is the one who woke up by herself and took a real control on the other guests and know how to play as an human, just like Bernard.
