Great tip with the screwdriver mimicing the bumps and vibrations of the road and engine. For the adjusting of the TPS, how does that work? Is there just an allowable tolerance spec you put it in and mount it?? 🤔

I like that you get it fixed right 😀 I would have done two things before replacing the switch and if it mostly fixed it, may have left it at that.. leading to a bad computer I guess lol First would have been cleaning the throttle body. Second would have been cleaning the contacts of the sensor and disassemble it if able for further cleaning and inspection. Then while in there I'd probably clean the maf or map, anything I might have taken apart to get the TB off for a full cleaning. Lol

I had a 91 Camaro 3.1 L engine that puked the TPS sensor at 93K miles and it had all the symptoms with erratic idle and was easily validated. Also, given the amount of miles on the odometer, it is very common that a good many vehicles for the mileage of 90K miles or better for the TPS to fail. Also, knowing that my Mom had the ECU replaced by the dealer already for another problem all together previously. Upon replacing the TPS sensor, I also took the liberty of cleaning the IAC Valve pintle and also inside the IAC port housing for good measure! I also did cleaning of the internal throttle valve body and the mass airflow sensor as a scheduled service!

I have 1989 Ford F250 with a 351ci 5.8L V8 and because my scan tool doesn't work on OBD and OBD 1 systems. I pulled the code with the blinking check engine light. and got a 53 code and came up with TPS circuit above maximum 4.5 volts. but I'm not sure what the parameters are supposed to be for that particular TPS. or if it's something in the circuit that is out of range.
@brunaciniautoАй бұрын
4.5 volts is about Max which means your throttle blade is fully open in other words you're pedal is to the metal. Add idol your truck likes to be at about . 98 volts. When you test your throttle position. Just be sure to use the black wire as your ground source and not another point on the frame or battery to get your negative on your voltmeter.

Thank you Finally a video with 4 pins 📌 Would the idle switch create surging/ bucking engine light on not flashing all simultaneously.. thus happens about 10 miles into driving. If I turn car off five minutes or even 5 hours it seems to start the time of miles again before it repeats. Other than this runs excellent and great gas mileage 😮😊

On a Honda Accord EX 2.4 l I have a good ground 5 volts and TPS adjusted to .5 ohm resistance level. Gives .5V to 4.5V signal on the PWM. It works great get restarted once still good 20 minutes it slowly goes bad again? I don't really have a $170 for a wiring expert to go digging until maybe they find it. Redid pig tail crimp rewired the ground to the chassis. P0122 Low Voltage code pops up again. Every time I checked it with the car on without running it gets exactly 5 v

I'd be interested in seeing a teardown showing the failure mode of the sensor. I'm gonna guess that it's corrosion caused by water ingress, but I've been surprised before. Could just be a mechanical failure I suppose. That said, it worked out for you this time, but back-probing will bite you in the ass one day. One day you're gonna waste a bunch of time over a poor back-probed connection. I'd go straight to Pomona piercing probes.

It's not water, the issue is heat so the plastic inside get damaged. Lexus gs300 mk2 98-05, has absolutely the same tps drama...

@tobiseopa24 күн бұрын
Mine too, did you manage to figure this out by the way?
@GregRickard23 күн бұрын
@@tobiseopa no, still like that. I thought there was a missing relay as there's an empty space in the relay box, but after investigating, Toyota said that relay doesn't exist for my model. I felt behind the relay box and lo and behold, no wires going to that slot. Back to the drawing board.
@tobiseopa23 күн бұрын
@GregRickard thanks I actually found the issue. The issue is the tps itself. The new tps I bought was aftermarket and it was faulty, the original does work. An easy way to test this is if you take the multimeter and do a continuity test on the sensor (while it's completely disconnected) put the black probe on the ground and the red probe on the idle switch. If it does not give you a reading the tps sensor is faulty. You need to have continuity between the idle switch and the ground pin on your sensor. I have also added a video on how to check this kzbin.infoSqS5IA1fVGI?si=m1S3GMh-RIbaZxQm
