If you are a fan of Chinese Kung Fu and are very curious about the authentic training content of Wing Chun Kuen in China, then you must not miss this video.
In this video, I visited our friend, Master Desong's Wing Chun martial arts hall and recorded everything about his evening Wing Chun class. included body training, various Wing Chun forms such as Siu Nim Tao, equipment such as the Wooden Dummy and Eight-Cut Knives(butterfly sword), as well as explanations of internal power training and street self-defense techniques. Finally, we also discussed the relationship between Zen and martial arts.

OMG, this video made me emotional, it took me back to 1973 when I started learning Fu-Jow-Pai at New York's City College of New York at the age of 18. My instructor at the time was Master Tak Wah Eng. Great memories!

People like to diss wing Chun like they like to diss taijiquan, but they don't understand. We aren't looking to fight 3 5 minute rounds, we want to quickly defend ourselves and get away, self cultivation is a byproduct of proper training. As a taijiquan boxer I always enjoyed touching hands with wing Chun boxers as friends.

Thats right, so in China we say:kungfu is not for the boxing ring, but for the street.

@@KK_China when the principles of these arts are internalized and flow forth naturally, sensed in advance though sensitivity (because sight is too slow and unreliable when Jin is released with a strike or whatever) it with be touch, take center and release, it won't be a long street fight. Few train to that level today and even less will teach it. I wish you every success. Regards from Thailand.

@@maelstrom57 imagine a government that out laws your ability to learn MMA hundreds of years ago and only allows you to train in mock WWF wrestling and everyone criticizes you over it and you think you can Rock bottom and cold stole stunner people who are actually trained because you have no idea what trained even is at least the youth isn’t dressing in drag or twerking for Tik Tok the young woman in the video said cause she was shy and wanted to change that

MMA artists don't understand. WC was designed as an assasin's art. to put someone down in the most lethal manner, as quickly as possible because it was developed at a time when the manchurian government was using the huen kuen to oppress the chinese people. the style was developed to counter the huen kuen....the practicitioners were considered revolutionaries. the concept of 5 minutes rounds is for sporting purposes, kung fu was never intended to be used sportingly outside of TRAINING ---i have practiced both WC and ta'i chi ch'uan for years, they complement each other beautifully.

As someone who has been doing Martial Arts for over 20 years I will put in my 2 cents. Most traditional arts can't compete with things like MMA or other competitive Martial Arts. The reason isn't so much the style it's the training. As some would say we train for self defense for protection on the street. The reality is many of these practitioners do not spar in a way that will make you a capable fighter. Most traditional schools do not do the kind of training that competitive fighters go through. Lack of grappling in many arts is also an issue. Many traditional styles refuse to adapt to change and add to their systems. I started training in Wing Chun in 2001 before that I tried some Tae Kwon Do. Many people I trained with had Wrestling experience from high school and then some had done Jujitsu, Hapkido, Karate and other things. Training with people of other backgrounds is a must. If you want to be good at actually fighting I suggest mixing things up take Wing Chun do some Boxing and learn some BJJ. Traditionalist fool themselves thinking they are capable but have no idea at the level of conditioning and fighting range competitive fighters have.

People who dump on this don't understand its not to teach you to fight to beat people up, but rather for self defense.

yeah, and those 1.5 hr classes are a couple times a week i bet too...maybe now you understand why practicitioners in the US tend to take decades to master one style...

We did two classes a week and about an hour for lower level students then an extra hour for advanced. People are busy you got to train on your own as much as you can. I started in high school and would hide in the art room after lunch to practice. I made my dummy in a tech school welding class out of pipe covered in old cloth and tape. I read a story once in like Kung Fu Magazine about how people trained half the day and then society has become more busy and unable to train like they used to and now people aren't getting the quality of training and even losing information. I moved before becoming an instructor in training. I learned most of the system but my experience with the weapons is limited. Over the last several years I haven't been able to find people to practice with so I spend most of my time reading and watching a few Wing Chun people online. I like to compare different Wing Chun schools techniques and beliefs.

This is a great social experience and it's good for health, both mental and physical. Wing Chun is not necessarily so great in real fighting but it's better than nothing. If nothing else at least it'll help you get coordinated and better fit mentally & physically.

Pao fa lin or lien Wing Chun lineage is the one and only one lineage of wing chun which is useful for Martial arts others lineage is good for health but not for Martial Arts. It may be Ip man's lineage, Yuen kay sun lineage, Sum nung lineage, pin sun wing chun lineage, Ban chun wing chun or red boat opera lineage or Tang family wing chun or Yip kin lineage. There is hardly any one knows about Pao fa lin or lien wing chun lineage which is completely designed only for Martial Arts purposes .

this master has all his students learning very advanced techniques yet none of them can tell him the meaning of man sao, a basic hand shape...the quality is lacking in them...he briefly calls it an internal martial art at the end of the video, but he's got all his students practicing the sui nim tao at sparring speed...Ip Man used to spend 45 minutes just on the Tan Sao section of the sui nim tao. The SNT is suppose to be trained slowly with mindfulness on the quality of the individual movements, there is no soul to their SNT...Correct practice of the SNT IS a MEDITATION, seated meditation is unnecessary if SNT practiced properly
