Watermelons are mostly water - about 92 percent - but this refreshing fruit is soaked with nutrients. Each juicy bite has significant levels of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids. There's even a modest amount of potassium.

I'm raw till 4. I eat fruit in the morning/afternoon and a cooked vegan meal in the evening and it works for me. I tried fully raw and I hated it!! It's a HUGE step to take and commitment day in day out. My main focus is being vegan, that's hard enough! Also, take a multi-vitamin just in case you fall short of B12, iron etc. (common sense)

Again, you can take a B-Complex vitamin (like I do) and there's other options to choose from to get your daily vitamins and minerals. There's no reason to sacrifice anything such as; quantity and taste. Anything you want you can have vegan :)

Watermelon seeds are extremely nutritious (especially high in iron, magnesium and copper)!!! Just wash them, sprinkle a bit of salt on them, dehydrate them a bit (under the sun is fine) and enjoy an awesome snack! "Seedless watermelon" really sounds unnatural to me...like it's been stripped off its lifeforce!

one has to have access to all those wonderful fresh fruits of course...not always available in a supermarket or even a food co-op. you must live in a tropical climate like FL or CA or Hawaii to have access to beautiful food.

not true. when one lives in an area where stores are far apart, and it's deep winter, like in AK, the only fruit available is super expensive, and just not fresh, as fruit should be for the most vitamin content.
@hogueguy

Ildiko Mester Notice, I said food, not fruit. A frozen climate would make things difficult, though... are you able to indoor garden at all? (I know you wouldn't be able to produce much at home, but it's better than nothing, no?)
@ildiko1vt
@ildiko1vt 10 жыл бұрын
Fruit is food for this raw vegan in the video. (i use the term interchangeably) I personally do not live in AK, but my son does. Their growing season is limited to a mere few months, unless grown in greenhouses. Prices for produce are sky high, and not that fresh. If one wants to eat like a vegan/vegetarian, one has to be ready to spend a lot of money in a place like AK. Even here in VT, where I live...fresh food is not what it is during the growing season.
@jezzabellissimo
@jezzabellissimo 10 жыл бұрын
Ildiko Mester So your saying its cheaper for you to buy over processed garbage than it is to buy fruit and vegetables? Even frozen vegetables or frozen fruit for smoothies is a better option if fresh food is too expensive. People need to think of food as medicine. If you invest in good healthy food then you will spend less going to the doctor.

No, I don't agree at all. Cutting up a watermelon, peeling bananas and chopping up some veggies or making a smoothie is much faster and easier than cooking meats and other foods...this takes no time at all! No washing burnt food off dirty pans, etc.. And the energy and vitality one gets from this lifestyle is precisely the reason busy people with lives love it so much!

+C Cobra Being busy is not the main issue . The main issue is living in a warm counrty You cannot follow this diet without support form sun and air around you I eat wonderful green smoothing according to Rawvana recipies - for colon cleansing- and the are wonderful - but- the body is cold like ice after that. I started to look for a reason and I have found out that according to chinese medicine juices have "cooling" attitude.When you have strong wind and rain outside you just HAVE to have something more energetic: and warm in order to keep your body in balance As you have to balance your body not only from inside but also with the enviroment

The carbon-hydrogen bonds are broken during hydrolysis to form carbon-oxygen bonds, and due to be highly exothermic nature much energy is released. This is basic high school chemistry. I have trouble eating large meals at once though and tend to pack a smaller lunch, like a banana ice cream or smoothie or container of fruit , and then a couple of snacks for the work day. any suggestions on training my body to eat just three larger meals? also, I have found that since packing some greens or celery with my banana ice cream for lunch, I feel so much more satisfied.

for those who think that proteins are the most important: just search how much protein is in the mother's breast milk! Yes, it has only 1.1% protein and then think about how a baby doubles his weight in the first six month! Is it only because of the proteins? Stop arguing about the proteins, is just a myth perpetuated by manufacturers of food and protein supplements that want to sell a lot of their products lying us that we need a lot of proteins in our diet. Carbohydrates are the most important! But if you really want proteins then check out Soybeans, it has 40% proteins and there is nothing that can beat it, not even meat.
@jamiejones7992

Breast milk is mostly fat, hence babies are in ketosis and their protein requirement is much lower. Soybeans are full of phytoestrogens that cause hormone imbalances.

Here is a challenge for raw vegans. Eat ONLY locally grown foods! I bet that would make being a raw vegan a bit more difficult depending on where you live. To make the challenge even more fun; only eat food grown outdoors in soil. No greenhouse, hydroponics ETC. In cold climates what would you eat in the winter? Dried fruit? Modern industrial food production and distribution is what allows people to be raw vegans. The only raw vegan I have any real respect for is John Kohler because he grows much of the food he eats.

I live in north east Ohio and the non organic fruits alone are priced high. Do you have any recommendations on where I could find produce that is more affordable? Ok, so I have been watching your videos for awhile now and I'm thinking about making some changes. Is it an easier transition to start out vegan rather than going raw immediately?

I'm a vegan and this look so amazing, I would trade all of my cooked food for all these amazing raw foods. ( I still love Coffey though, and I don't know how to get over it, lol) ❤️😊🌺

I've been really into your videos lately, because I want to learn more about the raw vegan culture. I've been a simple vegan for two years now, but I'd love to try this new approach out, maybe a couple of days a week to start, just to give it a try and see how it goes. So, I was wondering, what about olive oil? Is that "allowed"? Sorry for the silly question :)

I like the whole idea of this, but I live in Newzealand. A water melon is $7 each, and is only in season for two months. Pinapple is $5 each and not the best quality. We have cheaper bananas and apples, is that ok?. What do you eat when these foods are not in season?

+Julia Miss true, Russia, that is tough, well I did this diet for two weeks and was so weak I could not look after my family,, so I have been eating a very small amount of cooked food and I feel way better. maybe it's too late for my body to accept such a drastic change. and yes I eat lots of bananas, they are so expensive here too. so I feel it did something, but without my vitamins I can't sleep and my teeth hurt. maybe it's not for everyone. stick to hot soups in Russia...would love some cold weather right now, it's too hot here!!

I'm a vegan and I'm wondering where you get your protein? (I know I just asked a fellow vegan the most annoying question you could ask a vegan.) I get mine from mostly beans, but also eat tofu and other proteins. I don't see how you do it. I'll feel crappy after a few days.

I need to know!! How do you afford this..? I tried it for one month and ran out of money. Here in Maine, USA, there are no huge co-ops or farmer's markets, and buying in bulk just doesn't fit in my fridge with two other roommates' food. I bought from either Walmart or Hannaford's, and that's $100 a week to keep my caloric intake up. I envy this lifestyle, if only I could get my hands on a wealthy benefactor! lol

Many animals systems are very adaptable. I bet a Horsey could live a fine and healthy life subsisting on mainly cheeseburgers. I would suggest the term "opportunivore" would be an accurate way to describe Humans most basic relationship with food.
