He didn't commit arson, he was the victim. And I believe it was the sheriff who killed her, revealed at the end where she's taking to him before getting in his car.

Richard is not only a big-time artist, but also an outstanding and awarded songwriter. He has written for N'Sync and Luther Vandross among others, winning a Grammy for Luther's "Dance With My Father". His big debut album came out my senior year of high school, and I played that over and over that summer. "Endless Summer Nights" was mine and my girlfriend's song that summer. You really need to listen to more.

Richard Marx became huge in the 80's... His ballad - 'Right here waiting'... every girl or woman had heard that song at some point in passing or in a movie, TV or pop culture. It was a song he wrote to his first wife Cynthia (his GF then) while on tour. His 2nd album 'Repeat Offender' sold 4x platinum in the US and became an international hit. Richard Marx's career, like many 80's artists like Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Kate Bush, George Michael, Roxette ... went down in the 90's... but Richard Marx has continued to record albums and tour til today. Some of his other hits include - 'Satisfied'... 'Angelia' ... 'Now and forever'... 'Children of the night'... "Don't mean nothing" ... 'Hold on to the nights"... 'Hazard' came in the early 90's from his 3rd album 'Rush street' which sold platinum ... the video was about how outcasts in small towns in America are easy targets for law enforcement and accused of crimes they didn't commit. One example was the 'West Memphis 3' of Arkansas - 3 teens who were charged and convicted of the death & sexual assault of 3 boys... One teen who was mentally handicapped confessed to the police under duress and there was no evidence tying the murders to the 3 teens, only rumors and accusations that they did it as part of a 'satanic cult'... (The real killer was presumably a parent or parents of the boys) The state of Arkansas eventually released the 3 but only as part of a plea deal and none of them could take legal action against the state as a result.

Like so many others commenting, this is my favorite Richard Marx song. Somewhat scary story about him from within these past ten years or so: He was flying between gigs on tour, seated in an exit row, when the guy next to him went nuts and tried to get out. Being the one in closest proximity, Richard managed to subdue the guy and he was restrained until the flight landed safely. People bandied the term "hero" around, but Richard shrugged it off. I liken Richard's voice more to Kenny Loggins than to George Michael. Kenny has had many, many hit songs, including the title track to the original "Footloose" movie, and "Danger Zone" which is the signature song from both "Top Gun" movies. Early in his career, he did a lot of very popular collaborations with Jim Messina. I suggest checking out their song "Be Free"; the (instrumental) bridge in that song was a staple of the laser show at the local planetarium. For something different, I suggest hearing the Alan Parsons Project's song "Eye in the Sky" and especially its intro, "Sirius". These may surprise you. Alan continues to make music since the Project broke up, and I suggest checking out "Too Close to the Sun". But close your eyes and listen because the visuals in the video are unremarkable and don't represent the ancient legend told in the lyrics.

Such a phenomenal talent, been a fan of his for ages, it seems. This song is in my Top 3 RM songs, no doubt. My #1 is "ENDLESS SUMMER NIGHTS" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3_ZpICBjsx2qa8. I did a double-take the first time I saw the video, the actress is a dead ringer for someone I was engaged to back in the mid-80s. So freaky. He had several other really great songs. "SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER", "RIGHT HERE WAITING", "DON'T MEAN NOTHING", "HOLD ON TO THE NIGHT", and more. Lovely reaction, Stacey!

Imagine listening to this song for 32 years and never listening to the WORDS and what a shock when I watched the video. I always thought it was a PERFECT song, the music, the voice, just perfection. After watching this about a month ago I was trying to decipher the story and I may be wrong but I think the policeman following the girl was the clue, I think he did it. Stacey I was on the fence as to whether to request this songs version or the instrumental being I was so in love with this tune without the lyrics being analyzed. You always impress me Stacey and I am so glad you liked it, I mean who doesn't like that voice, right?

Other amazing songs from him include "Now and Forever", "Angelia", and "Hold on to the Nights" Richard has also wrote a number of amazing songs for other artists including: Kenny Rogers, Sarah Brightman, Vince Gill, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat King Cole), N'Sync, Josh Groban, Kenny Loggins, and Keith Urban.

It took me ages to refind this song as i couldn't remember his name. I bought his greatest hits to make sure I hadn't missed anything. On the album insert it said that he wasn't going to release this song as he didn't think it was good enough. His wife heard it, loved it, and begged him to release it and said it would be his greatest hit. So we owe his wife for this one. Another great song you should react to of his is "right here waiting for you "

I had to look it up to confirm that I wasn't batshit crazy, apparently there were 2 versions of this video. The other one is called "Hazard (Chapter 2)" which is the one that I remembered on MTV. In that one he is cleared and the incident was ruled a suicide. Great tune. There is a live version of it as the B-side to another great Richard Marx song called Now and Forever.

Great reaction Stacey!! A journey with Richard Marx is a journey into amazing songwriting & vocals! I LOVED this song instantly when it came out. It had a dark vibe to it (and subject matter), but was singable and easy to move to! Kudos to the video on 'presenting' the story. His voice is superb in all he does. I think they referenced that as a kid, he burned his house down after his dad committed adultery. As an adult, they burned his trailer down while he was held at the police. I think it was the lover she was with who killed her, but this misfit in town was easy to blame. Future considerations: Right Here Waiting, Endless Summer Nights, Should've Known Better, Hold On To The Nights, Now And Forever. He can rock out as well as make perfect ballads! Cheers from Canada, eh!

Hi! I just found your channel today and love seeing you going back in time to check out the classic rock bands from my younger days before rock all but disappeared! What is the best way to request a reaction? I have a band that I'm not seeing in your past reactions that I think you will LOVE, as they grew up with their major inspirations being many of the bands you've been discovering, Queen, Pink Floyd, Metallica... They are a band called 'The Warning'. They are reviving Hard Rock. Here is some info about them: Three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico who went viral on KZbin when they posted a cover of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' with the intention of just having their Grandparents see their progress with their instruments. At the time they were ages 9 (Bass Player), 12 (Drummer), 14 (Lead vocals/Guitar). Metallica actually watched the video and Kirk Hammett tweeted, "The drummer kicks maximum ass." Shortly after that, they started writing their own music. We are now 10 year later, that cover has garnered over 26M views, they have 2 EPs and just released their FOURTH studio album in June. They are now 19, 22 and 24 and just finished a world tour. They can all sing and often do three-part harmonies with the drummer taking lead in about 10% of their songs, while playing drums. They have roughly 60 songs in their catalog, but only three are in Spanish. So here is my ask: PLEASE let me know what I need to do, to have you take a look at this song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWfFkHmdhtOLgpo This is called 'Hell You Call a Dream', just 3 minutes long - it's about living their dream of being rock stars, but also dealing with the hard parts of the job (grueling tours, sharing a bus with 15 people, eating nothing but fast food on the road, very little sleep, lack of showers, missing their home - they all still live with Mom & Dad who travel with them - etc) It's professionally shot/recorded LIVE - which is where this band shines, without the need for auto-tune, etc. They do use some backing tracks to fill-in little parts that they can't do live (some background chorus, or piano outros - they're all classically trained pianists - or a special effects sound here and there, but they don't lean on them as a crutch.) And once I figure out what you're asking for reaction requests, and how to donate, I'll ask for these next two - Best to do them both as one single reaction as a 'then and now' thing - here is the original 'Enter Sandman' cover so you can see the foundation being laid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5PShox4brF5gLs And next - Metallica's Black Album (with Enter Sandman) is over 30 years old. Metallica made a 30 year Anniversary Album 'The Blacklist' and invited dozens of bands to cover songs from the original album with the instructions, "We don't want a straight cover. Turn the song upside down and inside out and make it your own, just don't change the lyrics'. The Warning were invited to re-make 'Enter Sandman' with Canadian Pop-Star Alessia Cara during the pandemic. They re-made it over Zoom in just over a week. Metallica made it the first song on 'The Blacklist Album': kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6WugpqbqKiWisU

Great reaction Stacey. Once you recover from this plot, I have another for you. Please keep an open mind and delve into some "Out-of-The-Box" genius talent! The legendary Al Jarreau (RIP) performed "Take Five" in Germany 1976... in the intro, he sets up the story of how he asked a girl for five(minutes) to hear him out... the rest is history! Take Five is the biggest-selling jazz song of all time, composed by Paul Desmond, from The Dave Brubeck Quartet. Al showcases his amazing talent using his voice to mimic all sorts of instruments and shows exceptional range. Well worth the listen... enjoy!

Richard Marx is an awesome singer. Before his breakout solo work he used to do commercial jingles and was a backup singer for Lionel Ritchie. I think he may also have written songs for late 90s boy bands. 30+ years later, people still ask Richard Marx who killed Mary. He leaves it to interpretation but says there's enough clues. I think Marx's character killed Mary and that he is an unreliable narrator. His limerance for Mary was not romantically reciprocated
