"ISTP have treated me like crap to the point of looking like they're being abusing when the reality of the situation is they're just trying to burn the lies away" spot on. I can't stand it when people lie to themselves to make dealing with life easier because it's this exact willful ignorance that is keeping you weak. I don't want to be weak and I don't want weakness in my group, diluting our strength, and so I'll bully them to nurture growth. And the ones who are too weak will distance themselves even though you care more than the "real friends" who let them believe their little pity lies.
@Beyondflix

Well..you'll alienate lots of inxx that way. When the time for strategic thinking comes, you'll find your group to be weaker because of their supposed strength. There's different ways to lead bro.

Adrian Daniel Botnariu Youre being unfair to inxx’s here. Not all inxx’s are so weak that they have to lie to themselves to deal with reality. Any type can fall into that trap. plenty of strong inxx’s in my group at the moment so i don’t mind letting the weak ones leave if they wish.

I just wish it when ISTPs decide to burn the lies away that they make sure they stand up to the same flames of truth they are spouting.

@@mykolharper Judging from you pic and your writing, you're fairly young. Maybe 20, 22. What you haven't learned yet, is that different personalities need to be nurtured differently. Let's put it in your terms. Say you wanna build a rack. You got some perfectly cut boards and some screws. The hammer is in your hand and the screwdriver in your pocket. It would take extra effort for you to take out the screwdriver, so you start pounding at those screws with your hammer. They break. Whose at fault? The screws, cause they were too weak, or you cause you used the wrong tool?

My mom is an ISTP. She's been driving without a license in the US for about 11 years. She has NEVER got a ticket and somehow she ALMOST gets into little accidents through the years while driving but somehow she acts at the moment and nothing ever happens. She was the one that taught me how to drive and honestly, it was amazing. I learned a lot. She also doesn't like to wear jewelry, makeup, nails, or exaggerated "ridiculous dresses," she says. The best thing you can give to an ISTP female for her birthday is money, it's like giving her Ni child the power to buy themselves whatever they want. Another thing is shoes, my ISTP mom loves shoes and specifically sports shoes. Favorite quotes of my mom "If you don't use your brain, then use your hands", "You'll never get to anywhere being lazy", "Crying will not solve your problems", "It was logical for it to happen" and "If I die one day, what are you gonna do? * Proceeds to explain all things that might happen and how to solve it while I internally want to cry just to think about it *"

8:40 it is very comforting to know that I’m not the only one struggling to understand my type due to family issues. When I was 18, I knew I had to move out as far away as I could from my mom (ISFJ) because I knew that I couldn’t grow as a person if I chose to stay. So I left my home for college, and I was the happiest person I’ve ever been because of all the freedom I had. The freedom to choose what I want to wear (I was forced to wear hijab by my muslim family), the freedom to befriend non-muslim friends, and the freedom to speak my mind (I’m a closeted atheist in a muslim dominated country). Yet for the longest time I thought I was an INFJ because that’s what I wanted to be due to my mom’s huge Fe influence and my dad’s (INTJ) Ni influence in raising me. Now at 21, I’m glad to say that I am a proud ISTP :)

Holy sh*t. This is possibly the most useful information that I have ever received. My family is so controlling and has suppressed my personality my entire life and I didn’t even understand. I’m out of the house and they still try to do it. I never understood this. I always thought (as I was taught) that there is something wrong with me. No wonder I have so many issues. Thank you for this. I feel like you’re helping me break free from others’ wills and expectations being imposed on me. By the way, I had no idea you read the Bible, awesome.

Being a 20yr old female ISTP in the midst of a depression induced chaotic mental breakdown is difficult because I feel like a failure in life and I never ask for help.
@dixielp
@dixielp 3 жыл бұрын
I’m a 36 yo female ISTP and I still don’t ask for help until I’m on the edge of complete failure. The fact that you’re in your twenty’s and aware of 1) your personality type at all, and 2) your weakness of asking for help, means you’re probably much further in your cognitive development than most your age. In my experience, all of my cognitive development has come through my hardest times and I’d say, and also caused some of my hardest times. Getting to truly know yourself is ugly. Embrace your Ni child and let it pull you out of this feeling. As an ISTP lady, you’re an extraordinarily rare gem. Keep going and share your shine with those around you.

You can’t be a failure, you’re 21, this is the time when you establish. If you’re at the same level by 35 bc you didn’t use this time usefully, then you can call yourself a failure, but even then it’s always life ahead of you. You can only be a failure in the moment but the option will always be there to learn from your failures

I love the bit about "you always figure it out" especially with the comment "even though you always forget that you always figure it out." so true! I always forget the magnitude and "impressiveness" of my achievements so far (I say it in quotation because for me it was more of a need being met so didn't feel impressive to me), like moving abroad on my own, maneuvering my way into a brand new career over here on top of that, and yet somehow I always revert to thinking I'm worthless and unskilled... But I remember now (I might even make a fun looking quote and stick it on my wall) that I ALWAYS FIGURE IT OUT. Logic problem irl? We got this 🙌

Female ISTP. Definitely became ESTJ through mid 20s to get family expectations off my back. I moved out at 23 but it took me years before my ISTP fully revealed itself. By then the stress of pretzeling myself to be an RN and, after that finished, an efficient mother caught up with me through an autoimmune disease, MS. I can’t even walk too well now and it is difficult to be an ISTP who is disabled. I anticipate overcoming it someday but it’s a slow go. I think as my mind frees up with Truth my body will recover. For now I miss using my body to run and hike. Thank God ISTPs keep it practical and so deal with things one day at a time. 🙂

Damn.... Most insightful video ever so far.... I find this so interesting because when looking at videos of just my personality type, they don't show the transitioning ,so I didn't fully understand it . But when I'm seeing this, it all makes sense now... Well,almost,but we're getting there and it's very exciting.... Now I know, i have to literally learn how to help people ,like actively think about the best way to go about it and create win win situations.... When you talked about this, a recent incident popped into my mind... My friend needed help, and I really did want to help this friend, so I was like...oh ohkay, so this is what the situation is and how to go about it.... And I did that, and it worked...and I was really happy that I could be of help to her. Not in a showing off kind of way, but yes like you said, we get so much satisfaction when we help people's lives to become better.... the thing is , it doesn't come natural to us, helping people, because we're so focussed on ourselves sometimes....so, I think practicing helping people until it becomes natural... You know, you get into different kinds of problems people have , the more we solve problems, the more we will know how to deal with future problems,.wow. it's like now I can put the scattered pieces of my confused mind to pieces. It's come full circle! An istp helped you, and now you have helped an istp which is also going to try to be better at helping. Thank you for this.

Some interesting ideas particularly about having a hard idea accepting I'm an ISTP; my mum always saw me as an INFP, my friends preferred me as an ESTJ/ENFJ, only my dad appreciated my ISTP side to an extent (as he is an xSTJ and his dad and brothers are xSTPs). So much so that I grew up planning my life based on strengths and weaknesses that where only situational, growing up as a permanently depressed scholar/analyst/people-pleaser that was always pushed away from developing my Se parent which was the real thing holding me back I think nowadays. But then with the development of new strengths came the development of new weaknesses; as Se improved, Fe became more and more of a concern. Now the real issue is dealing with tolerating/ignoring peoples bs, wanting to help them, but regretting it as everything worked so much better when they thought I was just an asshole and played along... Now the issue is figuring out the balance between being alienating and fake I guess...

♀️ISTP Constantly being told to be more lady like. (Most of my highschool thought I was a lesbian or trans. *eyeroll!*) Also... DUH! Of course we are safety conscious! If we hurt ourselves too bad how else are we supposed to go on more epic life adventures to collect more skills? Responsible vs irresponsible... that stuff makes sense now. I can be super good at saving money then some idiot ticks me off so I go to the local arcade and defend all of my high scores... spending money... (at least I don't drink or do drugs) Hmm burning lies with brutal, cold, truths... one of my favourite things to do. I get into so much trouble with my brutal realities and morbid tendencies. I know I can be a hypocrite... I hate it. The stupid thing is I feel like most of the time that because I am a person and human nature can suck, that I can't stop myself. As for my demons ... (rage, depression, etc) they burn hot and hit hard, always. I feel like a robot or a psycho on a rampage much of the time. The middle area is hardly ever habited for me. Thank you for the episode. It really keeps the depression away, i have been helping alot of people online, and it finnaly makes me able to respect my self thanks a lot for the advice!. Old comment: ISTP- Im unsure about the validity of your advise about finally being able to find meaning in life by teaching people, to generally satisfy the needs from some allegedly hidden polar opposite ENFJ type in ones subconscious. BUT I am soon 25, years old and i have now tried just about anything, including pils, antidepressats, love, drugs and selfishness, both isolated and in countless combinations, so im gonna actually COMMIT to your advice since im out of options, and some part of me is feeling that if anythings gotta work, then it have to be this.

Hey I have this templar cousin, he's 17 and I think he's either an ESTP-focused INFJ or ISTP. I'm 100% sure he's a templar though and 100% direct responding movement (both of these things are hillariously obvious in him) He's kind of affiliative in the sense that he's cooperative and asks permission for things. Also it is way easier to make the case for Se inferior than Fe inferior. Doesn't seem to be scared of making people feel bad, more scared of making people uncomfortable (noise-related things for example). The thing though is that he grew up in a small town in a third world society, and he's been extremely focused on sports and physical activities throughout his life. People know him as a sort of dare-devil who does all sorts of crazy things and gets all sorts of injuries. He often sees people doing some activity and spontaneously says "I wanna do that!", even if the activity is risky. This to me seems kind of aligned with the Ni-child/Ne-trickster of the ISTP. Also, cross-comparing against myself (Ni-hero), I don't often spontaneously say I wanna do some activity when it's like physically dangerous. I usually need more time to say I wanna do it or not. Another component is the abstract vs concrete. I've had trouble discerning this one due to the fact that english isn't his native language and therefore he may have limited ability to express abstract ideas. I find that I come off more abstract than him in conversations, but it may be due to the different environments we grew up in. I think my schooling emphasized abstract analysis and critical thinking, perhaps more so than third world societies where the material they focus on leans towards the concrete (math, science). And I guess schooling is one of the influences for what you talk about with your peers or how you talk about it. Another thing is that it's really hard to picture him as Ti-hero, because he doesn't give off that vibe of correcting everything. Along with that it's hard make a case for Te-nemesis and easier to see Te-trickster, because he doesn't really keep track of what people know in a conversation and such. So in a way by writing this out I'm realizing that there's more evidence for INFJ, and more specifically a heavily ESTP-focused one. But just interested if you have thoughts on this, or if you've seen similar INFJ individuals that align with him.

Woody Harrelson, Bruce Springsteen and Denzel Washington are my favorite ENFJ focused ISTPs. I know that Denzel Washington taps into his ESTJ unconscious when lecturing to college students but I still believe he is more often than not ENFJ focused in his private life. My favorite ESTJ focused ISTPs are Michael Jordan and Mark Wahlberg. They love talking about their past and how hard they worked which is what ESTJs do. That's why I believe those two celebrities are ESTJ focused ISTPs.

I really love when CSJ constantly says in each ISTP related lecture, 'ISTPs make excellent teachers', and 'I was taught by an ISTP and it was really great.' It just reinforces what I've been dreaming to do, which is that i want to be a teacher. I am an ISTP, and every time I'm asked what I want to do, and teacher is the response, it's always met with backlash about salaries, or annoying kids, that the job is difficult. All I care about is doing what I want to do, and doing it right, so CSJ bringing the reminder that teaching is something good that an ISTP does, brings me some reassurance.

ISTP here: There’s an urge in me to shed light on the truth and see the other person grow, but I’m totally insecure when they make me feel like I’m an insensitive soulless jerk, so then I step back and leave if I can or please them with an apology. Apology after apology, makes me look bad:) My opinion is that most people dont care about the truth, they are either emotional about it or ignorant (my experience).

So at the clinic I work at, the phlebotomy room has constantly been getting up to 80° and I am just too tired, hot, uncomfortable and tired to deal with it every day (Si child.) To try to make changes, I've been bringing up safety issues. Patients passing out and potential of mistakes and the like to get it changed. (Te inferior) That didn't work so I started to do 'illeagal' solutions like keep a water bottle in the room, put dry ice behind the fan and use work icepacks in my pockets and take slightly longer breaks than I'm allowed. It is a real safety issue but my real (secret) reasons for doing all this is because "this is stupid and I'm not putting up with it! No one is fixing it so I don't care what anyone thinks, I'm doing the smart thing." Is that ISTP demon talking? -INFP

It's really interesting that ISTPs are unaware of the consequences of their actions. You'd think with their Ti hero they'd be able to say if I do this, then this will happen logically. But I guess there's a black hole that prevents them from even applying logic to that area.

I've always been a 'dangerous' person since I know i could find my way out of any situation that requires physical prowess. Having a not fully developed Se Parent, my Ni Child has been running amok. And I almost blew my father's car because of that but luckily we didn't sustain immense damages or injured people because I was tactical enough to minimize the impact to trivial scratches(i'm talking about the car). A crazy thing that happened to me recently is that two ISJs of my family accused me of 'not taking enough risks' . My brain paused for a minute as I couldn't understand the absurdity of the situation.

My focus in life is on working towards a cure for a chronic condition, that completely ruined my teen years and that I will have to worry about for the rest of my life, and/or treating people for the same or related conditions. I keep typing people I know in my head and then ask them to do an online test and sure enough it keeps coming up what I typed them as (although we could both be wrong). Apparentively, though, introverted intuitives (the great majority of Chase's audience) have a lower success rate when taking online tests because we tend to over think things since the outcome is more important to us. As an INTP it took me several years (and many tests) before I firmly found my type through self study. So a 20% success rate among Chase's audience could be right. But a 20% overall success rate for people that take an online test just seems too low. At least in my experience. If I had to guess I'd say online tests are about 30 to 60 % accurate. With 3 out of 4 letters being right say 80 % of the time. Which is still pretty inaccurate! More importantly, we have also been horrible at typing others for a long time, especially celebrities, until Chase came along. It boggles my mind, for example, how Obama is still often typed ENTP. Ridiculous. CSJ took away the insanity of mistyping others. The vast majority whom never took any tests. Thank you Chase for that.

I think the idea is that having difficulty/worry caused a shadow reaction. This is unconscious. The introverted intuitive pragmatic shadow (Ni) would be more self-reflective than the extraverted intuitive pragmatic ego (Ne). The switch to self reflection being the attempt to resolve the difficulty by investigating 'is it me causing the difficulty?' and retreating from the affiliative world.

Intj=wayfarer => the most compatible types are entp intp esfj isfj, all affiliative+he had an isfj mother and usually when you have the same quadra in a family the child is forced in a side of the mind with the functions that the parent requires, the ones that the parent doesn't have aka Intj for an isfj mother.
