I just watched this. This video is one of the best explanations on this topic. Everyone should see it. The only information here could save a lot of people's lives. We need to change our understanding of food and symbiotic relationship with our microbiota.

Best, most succinct explanation I’ve heard. Well done. I now have a video I can share with friends and family that might understand a very complex topic 👍

Thank you for the video. Question: I've had major issues with cholesterol and weight so recently started taking very small doses of @ 1/8 teaspoon of psyllium husk 3 x's a day for about 3 weeks. After only 4 weeks my new blood work come back with cholesterol from 270 to normal, blood sugars stabilizing, nails harder and stronger, weight loss of 6 pounds, and just as importantly a sensitivity I've had to chemicals of formaldehyde and finishing chemicals much minimized (about 50% to 60%). However, within that time I also began to notice my lungs began to wheeze which grew into a nonproductive cough and then a serious bronchial effect where it felt like I was breathing gelatin and my lungs sounded like balloons that were barely full -- I did have very small expectorants of a dark green mucus... not much though... so I went to the doctor. As I wasn't sure what this was I immediately stopped taking the psyllium husk as I suspected that could be the reason. I was tested for Covid, Flu's and RSV's which were negative. I did have a X-ray that came out clear -- but my Dr. diagnosed me with Bronchitis as my Grandson who was very sick with lung issues... My Dr. said chest X-ray was clear and deducted probably a bacterial issue due to dark green mucus, however I have my doubts -- to me it might be an allergy to psyllium husk which is a huge disappointment as it seemed that fiber was helping me in many ways but of course obviously too dangerous for me to consume if this is the reason for my lung issues... Thus my reason for researching fiber and found your video... So may I ask what are your thoughts on fiber supplementation and do you have any videos on that topic?

Have you tried chia seeds or flax seeds? You’ll get fiber and some other healthy stuff
@tigerlilly6895

@@Patrickdaawsome I did try the other and had the same effects but I think it's because I didn't start slowly. I've read these types of fiber can encourage T-reg cells that think you have parasites... but I'm now trying the psyllium husk again, this time slowly, which has helped but you have to be careful as it can have side effects...

So apparently, the idea that "we don't digest fiber" isn't actually very accurate. It all depends on what kind of microbiome we are sporting at that moment. Correct?

If you notice, most of the foods listed in this video are ones that Keto tells you NOT to eat. It's like society wants you either to be fat and eating a ton of fast food, or skinny and eating a ton of meat and fat. Both of these outcomes are marketable and makes food companies rich. Either way you are devoid of fiber. Thanks for the video.

Indeed. It's perplexing to see how elimination diets (which should probably be used for very specific health reasons, and in most cases should be done temporarily even if they are necessary) have become FAD diets. People are drawn towards "easy fixes" that put their health at the mercy of profitable marketing campaigns rather than just doing research necessary to maintain their health. Intellectual laziness is a part of western culture(I can't really speak for other regions), as we're taught that all that matters is how productive you are in the workplace and any kind of physiological and psychological health is just a side quest. "Americans live to work rather than working to live," as a friend of mine once told me.

There is currently a lot of debate around whether fibre is actually good or bad for you in the nutrition community, or how much is good, or what kind... It seems it mechanistically carries a lot of good effects, although it's hard to really weigh these effects of we don't have some figures or percentage (maybe all those very beneficial effects are very tiny and insignificant in proportion, who knows). That being said, the one claim that still seems very bogus to me is that fiber improves transit. I didn't hear anything about that in this video. Is there any proposed mechanism as to explain this effect? Because personally I've had much better transit after I reduced fibers.

Fiber in diet feed the microbes in the gut. It is their primary source of food that they don't have to compete with human cells for since only they can break the fiber's glycosidic bonds down.
