I have the same problem of saying those words. However there has only been one person in my entire existence I say that to that many times a day freely and loving every moment of it. I wonder why myself. Truth is there have been better girls than this girl I verbally express myself to but I still have a difficult time saying the words if it’s not her. That’s how I lost a good INFJ lady just because of those 3 words. I said to her in an argument “those words don’t mean anything, do I act like I don’t care about you? Any sociopath can say those words but no one will act the way I do towards you.” I thought I had given a noble speech didn’t know those will be one of my last words to her. When she didn’t respond positively and was withdrawing I later said out of anger “if you are waiting for me to say ‘I love you’ you won’t hear it. Go to the street there’ll be many guys who will tell you that to get under you. Not me, i show how I feel by the way I act”. I apologized later maybe 2 months later after realizing my mistake. Wanted us to get back together but Still didn’t say the words so she refused. We had been together only 3 weeks prior the split. So it Didn’t feel right. I now understand she felt like she had poured herself into me and I can’t tell her simple 3 words. But to me saying the words meant a higher level commitment. One which I wasn’t sure if I was ready for. Again it had only been 3 weeks. So don’t judge me.

@big heart the only problem is that ISTP hears word salad when INFP talks. I have a friend who is INFP and that's not true but she's worked in tech and is a therapist now. Your basic INFP, to an ISTP, seems cute but batshit. Not a lot of real communication - which can be fine with an ISTP, until it's not.
@barrydworak4 жыл бұрын
@big heart I don't really care what ENFJs think about INFPs. Not at all helpful. NFs sound like they're spouting word salad except to other NFs. And that's fine. But the ISTP isn't obligated to play in NF land, either. Communication doesn't require empathy. It requires clarity.
@barrydworak4 жыл бұрын
@big heart am I being paid? Because when I'm being paid, I'll put in the effort to meet people where they are. If I'm not being paid, they can put in some effort. It's not up to me to empathize and communicate with people. It's a two-way street. If someone is spouting word salad, that means they aren't putting in the effort to meet me halfway. I'm not here to put in all the effort. BTDT and it doesn't end well. Other people have responsibilities, too, and it's not up to me to do all the communicating. They have the right to remain silent, too.
@CMDRZero013 жыл бұрын
@bigger heart. Here's the thing I think. As an ISTP I don't talk to anyone for the jot of talking, it is either to get something or give something and the last thing I'm interested in are their feelings, because those just always get in the way. There is a single question though that can normally get to the root of any communication problem when dealing with ISTPs, "Is that what they said or is that what you heard?"

I found the part about constant reading very close to home. I started a few years ago wearing 3m's 'Work Tunes' to listen to podcasts or audiobooks while at work or working around the yard and I've learned the value of constantly taking in new information and learning. I've even taken it a step further and purchased some bone conduction headphones so I can listen while at home without losing the use of my ears. Also, I've only ever said, "I love you." to my wife and kids, except once on the phone I accidentally responded with, "Love you too." when my mother said goodbye with, "Love you." It was an automatic response since I was used to saying it since being in a relationship with my wife. I instantly regretted it as not being an authentic response from me but of course, didn't bother correcting the mistake. Your understanding of the ISTP is very accurate and I really appreciate the expertise.

As an ISTP I definitely find it hard to sympathize with people, when you already see the solution to what is making them sad. Sometimes people be just too dependent on external factors which keeps them miserable. However there is a dilemma, whether to sympathize, listen to crying , complaints and leaving those people with their problem unsolved or Listen to those people and propose a solution to their problems because we actually care. Helping you solve your problem is our way of sympathizing with you. If we didn't care we will just ignore you. So I am not sure if this is a strength or a weakness. Your thoughts???? My sister an INFJ sometimes just cries when overwhelmed, and she gets angry when I ask her why she is crying. She responds she just feels like crying, when In my mind the solution is easy.

Especially ISTP, I think I have a pretty accurate vision of what it's like in a man (thanks to my ISTP grandpa, who is a self made man), but I have trouble understanding how it presents in women. Any thoughts ? For example I have a female friend who typed herself as ENFJ but I don't buy it because she's quite unaware of other's intentions and very independant. Also she thinks she's always right and that other people are morons :-) and I see her as very concrete (likes to be always in action, see the results of her actions). @bobbyjean15814 жыл бұрын
In socionics entps supervise istps - istp is the 'supervisee' essentially. Basicac reason is that both are high Ti users, but ENTPs have Ne hero, istps Ne trickster so istps are using Ti without benefits of Ne, ENTPs can use Ti with all the Ne, so they can essentially supervise the Ti of ISTPs and see where they are going wrong with the Ne blindspot. this could be a good thing - istps learns, entp feels valued and also feels this pull towards helping guide the istp. And entp finds istp interesting because of their (to them) 'different' use of Ti so i guess can learn from them too. Socionics says its an unequal relationship tho with entps at an unfair advantage due to having istps trickster as their hero - so arguablyy they can manipulate them. Not sure how true this is - would be interested in Chase's opinion on supervisor relationships

what does it mean "Istp should focus on actions not words" can any one give me an example ?
@Istpmom2 жыл бұрын
In other words the song “more than words” was most likely written by an Istp.

@@eneopopa3145 Well, I'm into biology, fine art, and psychology, but currently, I am a psychology major at my college. I would like to be some sort of creative person, whether that be an artist, songwriter, writer, filmmaker, but I'm also interested in people and helping them. I think some sort of combination between helping others and being creative would be a job that makes me happy :) thanks for asking! what about you as an INFJ?

The main issue with c s joseph obviously is that all his evidence is anecdotal and referring to his friends etc. He bases all his theories purely on anecdotes and personal experiences

Yet, I find the things relating to ISTP's very accurate, so is that a bad thing?
