Sometimes I struggle to identify with the super successful, super accomplished, super everything people that will sometimes come on the podcast. Not that I can't identify with people different from me. It's just nice to see a seemingly normal guy talking

I think not having this conversation include voices like trans comedians or disabled comedians kinda missed the heart of why comedy is a problem. Always discussed in our absence, the conversation simply further marginalises us and fails to seem less tone deaf than Chris Rock or Dave Chapele or Ricky Gervais have been. How about inviting Hannah Gadsby or Mae Martin instead of another white cis man? No offense but I really don't think Matt helps us advance this issue at all. This podcast is just another slap in the face to queer/disabled creators , as most media that doesn't include the voices of those being discussed tend to be. Wanna be man enough? Let us speak for ourselves. So tired of this "Why are they, what mystery is this?". Ask us. Many of us are more than willing to explain it, in crayon even. We'd be less mad if the discussions had that determine our place in society actually presence our voices and experiences. It rarely does.

Thank you for your feedback, Chris. We hear you and we strive for inclusion as widely as possible. We have had comedians and performers on from the trans and disability communities (including Zach Anner, Shane Burcaw), and we certainly aim to have more. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to have a discussion about this topic, specifically, with them and others in the space as you recommend. Our intention wasn't to focus on this topic - we invite people on and the conversation often takes on a life of its own. We take your feedback to heart and will continue to challenge ourselves to truly elevate underrepresented voices, which is core to our mission. Thank you for being here and keeping us accountable.

We also can't just exclude the existence of the majority to make space for the minority....we have to open the space more. There is more then enough space to hear from any and everyone.

Perfect example - was the joke that Chris Rock made on Will Smith's wife as something we can laugh at or that should not have been permitted?

Should mocking a woman for her chronic illness be permitted? Really, that's a serious question you don't know how to answer? Wow.

@@chrisbasson9603 Great question for Chris Rock. Thats the challenge for the comedians today. A very hard place to be to trend by.

@@chrisbasson9603 Dude, Erik did not say that, and Chris did not mock Jada's illness. Be better than that!

Yes he demonstrably remarked on her having a bald head knowing she has alopecia and is sensitive about her appearance. If not why was Will so upset? Rewriting the story to pretend it was "just a joke" is classic ableist bulshit. And what way is it you mean I should be if to be better? The way where we have no respect for women with chronic illness and people with disabilities? Jog on. Sick people are not the butt of your jokes. Why don't you be better and gain some empathy with alopecia sufferers instead of defending that jerk Dave?

@@chrisbasson9603 It is well known that Chris Rock didn't know that Jada had alopecia. And let's say he did, so what? She's bald!! She's not dying of cancer, she is not in a serious condition! And the fact you are excusing Will assaulting for a joke he laughed at shows you are willing to excuse violent behaviour when it suits you, and says more about you than anything. And you are the one rewriting things as Erik never said mocking a woman for her chronic illness should be permitted, Chris Rock did not mock Jada for having a chronic illness, as being bald is not a disability. IT NEVER WAS!! I am bald and you rewriting the narrative to suit your narcissistic means is worse than anything Chris Rock said. Be better than that for God's sake!! If not, GTFO with your trifling ass!!
