As a Slayer 1g V3 owner I would say I’m really enjoying this machine very much. The ability to precisely and smoothly adjusting the profile, the design and the experience, it nailed it all. One thing you need to consider when having such an expensive machine is the (water quality).

The Sanremo YOU is a great machine. Full of innovation. Small boilers, heat up times 5-8 minutes. Pressure profiling, programmable and paddle controlled - paddle generated profiles can be saved. Separate control and heating of brew boiler temperatures. Superb steaming capability. Lots of plans from the Sanremo development team to further develop the machine by SW upgrades. Super responsive to the community - just had a 90 minute teams call with them today to go through all my observations and proposed SW enhancements.

@@ds_7 they use an SR61 group head, which is an improved E61 with an active heating element and integrated temperature sensors. They don’t hide this, you can read it in the technical specs.
@ds_7 Жыл бұрын
@@christopherschmitz1804 Yes it is in the fine print; it isn’t advertised, which is what I was saying. I want to an explanation of the impact of this choice vs using a saturated group head, because I don’t trust that when people put bandaid modifications onto inferior products that it makes it as good as the superior product.
@christopherschmitz1804 Жыл бұрын
@@ds_7 I can not report any downsides of this choice. Quick heat up times, good stability during extractions. Also when doing back to back extractions. Longevity of the brew head should not be a concern given its origin is probably the most used brew head in coffee’s history. The manual lever issues of the E61 with requirement to grease are not relevant. Pressure buildup is controlled through the gear pump. SR has been using the SR61 in some of their commercial grade machines for quite some time now. Saturated brew heads may be fine, but they are for sure not the only solution to stability.
@matthewhoffman6868 Жыл бұрын
I found your comments informative and acute, but may I make one suggestion? Recent spring lever machines, such as the ACS Vesuvius Eco, the Nurri SA and (above all) the La Marzocco Leva allow the precise control of the extractions that you appreciate, plus the piston-driven wall-of-water flow that no pump machine (not even the Decent) can emulate.

Great video and thank you for it. My input after owning both GS3 MP / AV is they are loud pumps. The electronic interface is now looking very dated. And the MP I found hugely frustrating to repeat. Plus it wastes a huge amount of water. Last month I enquired about a slayer and was going to pull the trigger. No one mentions this but it has zero volumetric ability so like the GS3 MP how do you accurately repeat a shot. I cannot be bothered at 5am in the morning using scales under my coffee cup. So I’ve narrowed it down to an R9One or if I push the boat out a Strada EP1. What puts me off the Strada is the Gs3 app is absolutely brilliant to use and I don’t think LM have developed it for the Strada. Keep up the good work. Love your videos.

What is the price range of the Speedster? As I don't see it on their site. I used the Spirit and their Mirage at a cafe I used to work at. I loved them.. but they were a little abused and were not the most reliable because of that. They really are built like old supercars. Do incredible things but need to be maintained properly. At one shop we had the mod bar.. it was ok but honestly kind of a waist of space and would get SUPPER hot. So you can't place stuff on top, you don't want to reach around them and also don't want customers to be able to touch them.. but man I love their presence on the counter.
@Rydecoffeecoach Жыл бұрын
Great info! Thanks for sharing. I haven't worked with the Modbars so I didn't know they got so hot like that. Speedsters retail for about $14.5k AUD (I think the idro-matic add on is about $2k more). You're absolutely right about the way they need to be maintained, that's why they've moved to all S/S parts. But did your work have an RO system? I wouldn't put any new specialty coffee machine on a bench without one.
@wexy021 Жыл бұрын
@@Rydecoffeecoach Yep RO, and Idro-matic for the Kees. I feel like we were a bit rough, highish volume and didn't have a solid maintenance schedule, till I had multiple conversations with Kees, and made one 😅 The people over at Kees were fantastic to work with btw. Even with the 7hr time difference. When cafe volume is low, the ModBar is ok for the most part. However during rush, in about 5 months 3 baristas received severe burns from the sides while reaching between to grab syrup or to wipe down the counter. All this to say, haha training and bar set up are key to a safe work place 😄

Wow.. How nice of you to have replied. Pump is under my bench/counter. It's stainless steel..had to cut a hole in it for all the damn hoses..nearly set the bench on fire cutting the hole...lol!! And then needed to upgrade the power switch to accommodate the fuse it needed to run from my house power. What a bloody drama!! Should have just kept the Mini. But wait...I have more. I then needed an EG1 grinder just to add to the stupidity!!

I wish I didn’t but I can’t stand the sound of the decent. I know it’s the type of pump but it sounds like it’s dying

It disturbed me at first too, but you really get used to it and now I don't even notice it at all.

I wouldn’t ever buy Decent . Unless they make newer generation

Why not? Other than a proven track record beyond 7 years, they are fantastic. Every issue I have come across with it is easily resolved via the huge community on Basecamp and John Buckman is always active on their listening to feedback and improving the models. Sure, it doesn't have the history that LM has and that makes it slightly more risky for that price point, but I think they are worth it.
