In an irrational sea of "wasn't Charles horrible" I feel compelled to add that while I was a big fan of Diana as well, I also understand that none of the tragedy would have happened if Charles had been allowed to marry Camilla in the 70s, so he found someone he thought he could love and build a life with. Sadly she was too young, too needy and too different from him. She was psychologically damaged from childhood and he could not cope with that because in his world you did not wear your emotions on your sleeve. Witnesses have said she was quite demanding of him and was too young to understand the duty he had. I think he did try but was not equipped to deal with her need to be together so much. When she threw a tantrum, he just walked away. I do think that he and Camilla lied to themselves that they could just remain friends and live so near each other... He insisted to Diana they were just old friends when he knew in his heart it was more than that, but he felt he couldn't have her anyways because she was married so he thought he could have a life with Diana instead... In the end it wasn't fair to ANY of them. More lives ruined by 'the Court' who decreed that Camilla wasn't good enough for Charles back in the 70s.
