I’m fairly local and have ridden that descent multiple times, and while it is quick it’s not one I would choose for this challenge. Brilliant video! Great chemistry between these two, and it's always good to see Hank at speed! Some of us enjoy speed and have the abilities required to descend quickly. People imply that I'm crazy for my descent speed too, but it's all relative. This is a skillset of mine, and it comes naturally to me. I don't go around calling other people crazy for doing things that I'm not proficient at, like chefs or synchronised swimmers. We can all choose whether or not we ride down a hill quickly. If you don't think you can do it, don't do it. You shouldn't need someone (e.g. GCN) to warn you that it might be dangerous. Assess it for yourself and make your own decision based on your competence and risk appetite. You know, like an evolved human.

This one looked really dangerous. It wouldn’t have taken much to lose traction on a corner and go straight into an oncoming car. You really need a totally straight road for this, especially if you were going to do the aero bars and tri-spoke front wheel.
@theegg-viator470710 ай бұрын
Cold air is more dense than Warm air. Likewise, higher elevations have less dense air than lower elevations. Ideally you want to be in LESS dense air in order to reduce aerodynamic drag forces being felt on the body / bike. However, there is a performance penalty on humans / engines that operate in high elevation environments. You / your engine (cardiovascular system) will be unable to intake better levels of oxygen when up at a less dense environment (high altitude) compared to when at lower altitudes (high density air) of which has more oxygen per unit volume of air used by your cardiovascular system. In a magical controlled experiment, If you wanted to see the fastest velodrome times, you would want to have an indoor velodrome up in the Himalayan mountains but, the velodrome cyclist would need to have a positive pressure oxygen mask on when he rides. 😁
