Would make sense that they will adopt a family of weapons. The M4 was an off-shoot of the M16 in practice, but was limited in design in certain ways and didn't go beyond that. The new SIG NGSW has both a rifle/carbine version and a belt-fed SAW variant. The interchangability of parts is a HUGE thing for logistics and maintenence. We'll probably get a DMR rifle from that family as well soon enough.

The additional "pike" armor sections on the M1 Abrams tanks is similar to those of the Leopard 2. They're hollow inside and their function is to destabilize Russian sabot rounds before they contact the main armor underneath. A closer inspection of the tanks in the trailer and you can definitely see the familiar M1 tank underneath. Look how a Leo 2 without the outer armor looks like and it will look very different as well.

@@mabgaesm To be fair, in previous BF games before BF5, each class was the same model. For example, every assault was the same guy in BF4 and BF1. You could change camo in BF4, but that was it. This time around, there will be several specialists per class, and I imagine each will have customization options, so it will be MORE visually diverse. I also bet that if you’re on a server with bots, they might be “regular grunts”.

But lets be honest, not everyone is gonna be buying passes every time they release a new season, including me, we will be stuck with the default character, And here’s the thing, i actually want to play as the generic faceless grunt, and i want to change his camo too.

Something I noticed about the specialists: In the trailer, especially in the first half, there are quite a lot of characters (possibly non-gameplay models) that look like how you would expect a soldier in combat to look like, They have helmets with some variation, tactical gear, and they’re wearing more or less identical uniforms. However, the specialist system sounds as if each specialist will have unique appearances, to better distinguish them. This means either one of two things. 1: the models in the trailer are not representative of the final game, meaning you could potentially have 40 different variants of wingsuit guy running around, which doesn’t do wonders for immersion. 2: the in-game models for the specialists are more uniform than is otherwise implied, or that the character customization is fairly in-depth, while still adhering to things a soldier on a modern battlefield could be expected to wear. Either way the complete removal of a core aspect of the battlefield formula just does NOT seem like something that should have been done, nor one that should be repeated in future games.

What I saw was some specialists with different outfits. The "S. Espinoza" guy was portrayed twice with different outfits, but looking nothing almost nothing alike and still looked like a soldier. I think the specialist thing could play out very well if there is enough customization which corresponds with the soldier like idea. Even though I understand what you're saying, I don't think you're in a place to tell DICE what they should or shouldn't do after only a reveal trailer and a tiny bit of info.

A couple things I found: The M5 doesn’t look like a direct evolution of the M4. Rather it looks to be based on the SIG entry in the NGSW program, which seeks to supplement and possibly supplant the M4 with a new rifle firing a 6.8mm round with the option for a new advanced sight. I also saw a machine gun in the trailer similar to the machine gun SIG developed for the program as well. Other guns I saw were the modern AK-12 as adopted by the Russian Army, an LWRC .45 SMG (the UMP looking one), a Kriss Vector held by one of the soldiers crushed by the ship hull, and the rifles near the end of the trailer resembling a Desert Recon and a SIG 716. The US tank looks to me like DICE went with an approach similar to Tom Clancy’s Endwar with the tank, basing it vaguely on the M1 while borrowing elements of other designs. It looks like an Abrams with a Merkava inspired turret as opposed to being one of the newest variants of the Abrams set to enter service soon. The Russians use a T-14 basically unaltered from its current look. The jets are also mostly just F-35s and Su-57s with no alterations I could really see.

6:07 I just noticed the soldier in the back is wearing an Ops Core bump helmet that doesn't have a ballistic rating meaning it's worthless for anything other than accidentally bumping your head on something (hence the term bump helmet) The soldier in front, however, is wearing either an Ops Core or Team Wendy FAST style high cut ballistic helmet. These are rated to about IIIA armor protection and are more appropriate for the setting. Bump helmets are not typically used in actual combat and are more commonly used by non-deployed troops to protect them from hazards on-base.

10:51 that means there wont be pilot class or special classes assignet to certain vehicle if he can carry a bazooka, so if anyone can jump into a plane or heli that could create some problems, they could potentialy use those vehicles as a taxi to get to inaccessible spots, like for example snipers in battlefield 3/4 on gulf of oman where they were going for those High Towers on the middle of the map and kept respawning there ... or teammate stealing your vehicle while you were repairing it ... ive seen it too many times in bf3

That "M5a3" very much is a Sig MCX variant. If your unaware, the US Army is in the mid-to-late stages of the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program, which is going to select a new rifle and squad automatic weapon, and a new medium machine gun is being selected as well. They're going to be in a new cartridge, which will be 6.8X51mm. Basically, 308 was too big, 5.56 is too weak particuarly at range and out of the short barrel of the M4 carbine, and somewhere in the 6.5-7mm range seems about right, and will have the armor penetration needed for fighting new near-peer fights. Sig Sauer is one of the 3 remaining competitors, and each of the three (Sig Sauer, General Dynamics Land Systems feat. Berretta+True Velocity, and Textron) offer something very different. Sig is the "safest" bet, as theirs is the most conventional and is AR-15/10 like rifle, and is the most conventional with their ammo. Their MCX rifles are already used within SOCCOM, so its the safest bet for DICE, cause they can either have it be the new service weapon, or just a future Sig rifle.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw alot more weapons and vehicles based off the US militaries "next generation platforms" they are currently developing. Some of those unarmoured transport vehicles, would also be inspired by the infantry squad vehicle and the ground mobility vehicle. It also looks like BF2042 is going to have some elements inspired by Escape From Tarkov Also the calamity that knocked out most of the satellite systems sounds like the Kessler effect.

The only similar I could find was the Flyer ALSV and Polaris Dagor. But it could honestly be just a mashup of all the platforms of the "Ground Mobility Vehicle" program that the US is running.

Im surprised nobody's talking about the fact that the map manifest is a night map. We've only had a few night maps in the battlefield franchise and I've always found them to be a fun experience. Night maps add an extra element of gameplay with shadows and whatnot. I'm really excited to see how it turns out

its just an upgrade to the M1 Abrams. They might have some other internal upgrades but the turret arrowhead design similar to the Leopard 2 is a simple yet effective upgrade against APFSDS round

? Was is chaos. Of you ever played bf4 everyone runs with there heads off lol no one in battlefield is really moving around as a team maybe as small squads but usually not the case for battlefield and I've been playing since bad company 2

I need to say that I was not disappointed by the trailer, but I wasn't amazed however. Yeah, the trailer is cool and packed with action, but they are no clear factions, so it is difficult to have a clear frame for where the game is set and who is fighting (In my opinion). Plus, with the reveal of the Battle Pass and the specialists system, I'm afraid that we will have an R6 style of game, with specialists who lack versatility or some who are clearly way better than the others. But well, it's only the first trailer, so lets see what we will have next!
