WATER DAMAGE????... RUN!!!!!! You never know how extensive the damage is until you get into the job. You are so right that there is a lot of junk out there. I'm glad you guys aren't in a hurry. We are retired so it is just the two of us but we LOVE being able to park our older class B van just about anywhere at just under 21 feet. I think there are a couple of 25 footer class C's with a rear bed but they are definitely harder to find. If you can go up to 27 feet you are more likely to find a rear bed. Also if you were really up to an adventure you could get a class B with the pop top roof and sleep 4, not necessarily comfortably though. lol. Best of luck to you guys. Looking forward to seeing your shopping adventures.

My husband and i bought a Runaway Rouser last November its only 13' It comes blank inside with electricity and air conditioning you build it out the way you want. We love it, fiberglass roof and composite material inside so it will never rot or mildew. It is a very tiny trailer but we only use it for sleeping since we spend most of our time outside and we don't have to deal with all the problems of a bigger camper. We can stand up in it and we built 2 beds in it and 2 night stands and a place for our foot wear and other storage clothes go under the bed in plastic bins everything else goes in the pullout drawers in our pickup truck. It's not for everyone but we love it and it's made in Ocala Florida a small family owned business. We went to the Hershey RV show last year but we were not impressed with the quality of the trailers or motor homes. There is something out there for everyone.

There must be a point where an RV has been used enough that the owners have fixed enough of the initial issues that you won't have to do much to start using it and you won't have all of the horrible problems of buying a new rig (which are prodigious.) Were it not for your suggestion I wouldn't have two electric dehumidifiers and 3 Damp Rids hanging in this 40.5 ft. RV where mold and water damage would be an issue here in South Carolina. I thank you for that.

We have our 36' Tiffin Phaeton, and very much like the 'room' we have inside our coach. We 'have' looked, but it was for a 5th wheel type trailer, but then truck prices are extremely high as well, that are capable of pulling a 'roomy' 5th wheel. So, for now, we'll continue using our Tiffin. We wouldn't mind a 30'ish 5th wheel, but the overall length of it and the truck are still long of course. We don't want to feel closed in, thus the reason for having room to move about, without being in one another's way.

We did downsize a tad. We had a Coachmen RV Leprechaun Premier 260DS. We changed to look for a unit that had Driver Assist Technology (required for my wife) that the Leprechaun doesn’t have. If we wanted to stay with a Ford E-series, we would have to go to a Winnebago. The Minnie Winnie/Spirit 26T is the same floorplan. The dealer also had a View/Navion that was a couple of feet shorter and on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis. We decided to take a look at the Sprinter (View/Navion 24D). We drove the Sprinter and it was a big difference. We now own a Navion 24D.

Like you I wanted an RV, but decided on a smaller trailer that I can pull and set up by myself. I found a 2010 R-Pod R-171 that is about 20 feet and weighs less than 3000 lbs. It has a queen size rear bed, a dinette that makes into a twin, a wet bath, stove top and refrigerator. I bought a combo air fryer/toaster oven since there wasn't a microwave or oven. The R-Pod also came with an R-Dome which doubles the usable space of the camper. I have camped with my daughter and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren in this camper so far. My grandson is getting to the age, he wants to sleep in a tent away from the "girls"! I'm not comfortable backing yet, but also haven't needed to as I have found drive-through campsites at our favorite campground a few hours away. Love being able to spend time with the grandkids without the interference of electronic devices!!

We don’t full-time it, but we use our trailer as a hotel room to travel to events where we sell our products all over New England. We love having a truck and trailer combo. Since it’s just the two of us, we have a small 20 foot with a slide out. We looked at lots and lots of layouts on the manufacturer’s websites and loved the he 3-D interactive scans to get a good feeling of what the interior was like. We will only ever buy new because trailers have enough issues on their own without owners who ignore and not fix problems. Living in New England, the prices for new are nuts. So we found a dealer who carried the model we wanted and called and asked for the “out the door” price and it was 10 grand less than our local dealer for a better unit. Traveled 8 hours to get it in Pennsylvania. Best decision we ever made.

7:59 : For this small of size (and the age of RV that you are looking at), you want rear bath. It is too small to have those fumes anywhere else. Trust me. Rear bath keeps all of that away from everything else (especially when A/C or fan as centrally located is on). My rear bath spans east to west and keeps all of that where it needs to stay - away from me - while I sleep in the over-cab bunk and as far forward as possible. Go for rear bath with that size ALWAYS! The "bath" looking shower is helpful, because that grey water tank is SMALL. That is likely where it will pool if you don't empty it on time. It could be as little as a small sink of dishes - and this will prevent mayhem. Also, the seat part is great for shaving legs!!! You'll get about two days of water with that in terms of the likely grey tank capacity. The water damage is kinda interesting, because stuff can look a certain way (not all of it), but some of it can look like that due to how humidity can build up in a small space (including while occupied with no obvious leaks and/or boondocking). In the bathroom, most or all of that could be from the shower steam. You might not believe it, but it's possible! Meanwhile, the bunk was VERY concerning for someone without know how to fix. I don't know your area, but list price by an individual was super surprising - :( ... As for the second one, as someone living in a 21' RV, please, please try to figure out what is humidity and what is water damage from a leak/water intrusion. I do not sell RV's (though I would if I could do it in a way to save others in grad school and dutiful careers from homelessness or throwing money away on subpar rentals). But you need to know how to differentiate between humidity and water intrusion. If I put you into a tent - brand new - and you had it sealed up and slept in it during a humid week, you would see all of the condensation on the ceiling too. I have a temperature and humidity gauge in my RV and can tell some differences related to this. It is wayyyyyy more dramatic looking in a small space but (as with mine) bounces back! My roof was resealed and looks so good, so I know it's not leaks. It's the interior humidity - and where does it go? The ceiling! Know this before buying a small, ductless RV. Still, this RV could save someone's life (and their pets' lives) and be a way to turn instability (such as experienced by a currently poor grad student) into an adventure and a unique way to connect with people! For some of us from different spiritual customs, it's also a way to flip the script benevolently via the journey and sublimity in nature! ;) In my experience, housing security at an affordable rate can equal personal agency and likelihood of sabbath observance (since employers these days pretend to be oblivious to religious accommodations as mandated by law and most of us are currently too poor to afford lawyers)! If priced correctly, this could be a lifeline - and a fun one to build on someone's experience and knowledge base while preserving dignity and religious tradition.

Here is our experience buying RV. We bought RV from the person, not the dealer definitely, who has used RV for a long time. That's why we could trust to buy RV ftom him. He is a great family man, has a dog, and did take care of his 2006 Pursuit class A motorhome. We were so amazed how inside were nice and couldn't see any damage from the corner to the corner. First, when you look RV inside, check any stain on the top sealing and wall. Open all cavinet as well. He listed RV fist $38k. And it seemed like he didn't sell due to a horrible economy! He marked down $22k that we found from our neighbors, and we got it. We bever ever looked for RV from another state. This is the key when you're looking for RV! BRW, he got back injured pretty badly. That's the reason he had to sell the RV. After we got RV, we straight went to the shop, which provided the checking of all vehicles. I am not a mechanical person, but my husband is. So he could write down here, but I'm not gonna do that. Anyway, we wanted to make our RV close to perfect because we moveing in. We spent 6k to fix them up. And definitely had to change tires. They were old. So, we spent $3800 on tires. And of course the bed mattress was a pretty industrial bed which was awful! We changed that. Anyway we ended up spending 38k on RV because w are moving in. Here is my opinion on buying RV. If you live on RV as full time, you're not gonna looking for a cheap RV. You also better think about the extra budget for fixing up whatever they need. If you are just looking for RV for a short term using, then go cheap. Just a couple fix it up for saftty drive because 10 out of 12 month RV is going to be a garage. Love ya grateful glamper! 😊 P.S. we're spending more on our RV for insulation. 😅

They don't typically have the ability to tow your Expedition, have leveling jacks or gain much in fuel milage. We currently are in Fla from NJ in our 42R American Eagle till 4/15 and as much as I understand your reasoning, size does matter. My must have is a fiberglass roof, kings size bed, large shower, 22.5" tires and horse power. Ill settle for the inconvenience of availability. Your current RV is big but it is way nicer than anything you showed on this video. Keep looking, you will know when you have found the right one. Maybe you all should consider a towable if the Expedition is capable.

5k max is what Alex says for the first one... did they slide work? Clearly water damage... you will probably spend 5k fixing it. 2nd one... it's a no.. and Alex was like, heck no for the 2007.. he tried to sell you the 3rd one anyway.. that's why he bought that water logged one

I would keep looking find a clean one. I know you’re on a budget, but you don’t want to buy one that’s too trashed. I’d be sure to have an inspection or you guys do it. Good luck with your search. I enjoy your videos sending you positive energy from Malibu, California.

Water damage, beware of mold. Definitely a pass for me. Not worth the trouble to fix.

You can't see where all of the water damage is. I wouldn't buy it for no amount of money.

Take someone with you with a good nose. Musty mildew smell is a indicator of water intrusion. With my allergies my whole nose reacts, but alot of people can't smell it.😢

Rent out your rv? Sure, and try to figure out who broke what and deal with all the management? If that still works out for you, great.
@GratefulGlamper2 ай бұрын
That is definitely a lot to take on.
