Living in the U.S., one of the difficulties I have watching interviews like this is that they seem to view the United States as monolithic. Especially when they assume they know about American politics, they don't seem to realize that there is a whole range or spectrum of beliefs and ideas. If one party wins an election, it is always by 51 percent or thereabouts. And the presidential elections are even more skewed because of the electoral college. Literally, if Europeans assume that Americans believe "A" there are literally 170 million of us who believe some shade of "B." There are conservative states and progressive states and states poised in-between. There are progressive cities inside conservative states, and conservative counties inside liberal states. There is no single culture in the U.S. It's a mosaic of ethnicities, subcultures and different attitudes. If you don't like one American, try another one. We are literally almost as different from each other as we are from other nationalities.

Not really true. All american politics is right and extreme right. Average American is ignorant about world, didnt travel outside US and think that US is the greatest country in the world. Ask Iraqi, Afgans, Palestinians, Chinese.. and many more nations. They dont think so. Even Europeans dont like Americans and we are in "allies and friends" category.

So, the impressions that I've gathered from some of these individuals is that they're kind of disappointed in the USA. But that is a very fixable problem.

@@TheMVCohoHow come? You write nonsense without a reason. So we are waiting for something useful from you! What needs e.g. B. Norway from the USA? Or Spain or Austria? Conversely, the USA has stolen a lot of technology from the Europeans over the last 140 years.

Btw Nato is the price what u won with selling us weapons and after WW2 recover economy by selling us things...but imagine if we care about militar power again.... to be honest USA looks a 3rd world country with "make up" in a lot of things. Safety/weapons, homeless people, health system, public education etc but for sure is the best country in the world and the only place where u have freedom xd... open a world map and see what is in the center. @@Issac-eg5ek People in the US live 10 minutes away from someone from every country in the world. Most of them fled the BS from the countries that we are judging. We are literally listening to first hand accounts. You are listening to Twitter. 40% of my graduating class were children of immigrants or even 1st generation immigrants. Half my workplace is foreign nationals from universities all over the world - that came to study at our universities because they are the envy of the world. You guys take media way too seriously, and you don't even talk to your own countrymen. We talk to EVERYONE and we don't really take media as seriously as you think we do, certainly not as seriously as _you_ take our media. We actually talk to people on the streets. In restaurants. In elevators. While we wait in line. We talk to people who sit next to us on the plane. We talk to our cashiers. We talk to our taxi drivers. We make conversation with our mailmen. In those conversations, we always run into someone who was not born in the USA. We are FAR more cultured and aware of the world than you are.

@Chris-fn4df all lies!! People in the us don't live 10 minutes away from someone from every country in the world, NOT EVEN CLOSE, at 'best' they live 30 mins away from one person from another country. It may be just a tiny different in big cities.
