I would absolutely love a new implementation of the outpost system. A small quest where you can buy a contract from LIST, UC, or FC to build a new colony. You can put out advertisements to send colonists to their new home. Full of stores and homes and decide if it's a mining town, manufacturing hub, or a high end luxury center. You could even use the shuttle system to link your colonies to eachother or capitals of different factions. That would dramatically change the "emptiness" of human civilization that 90% of planets are uninhabited all by tweaking an already existing mechanic

thats the ironic part. people say it has poorly written quests, and some are, but some questlines are so incredibly well written. Their multiverse narrative is probably the best ive seen so far in a media. especially how you kinda turn into the hunter yourself cause of the NG+. its so good i struggled to believe they did it on purpose

This was my first full play through of a Bethesda game and as time has passed I have become more and more enamored with Starfield. The updates have been great and I can’t wait for Shattered Space! Like with Cyberpunk Starfield is a game that launched with negativity (not shared by me) but with each update I’ve become even more obsessed with it like I did Cyberpunk, which is now one of my favorite games of all time.

They need to expand the walls of Akila City. 200 years and its the size of my back yard!

Did you follow the lore about Akila? Tell me you didn't understand the lore without telling me.
@aperezdeal
@aperezdeal 6 ай бұрын
Akila City was founded in 2167 by Solomon Coe, at the site of his first camp on Akila. Solomon named the settlement "Akila City" despite being its only inhabitant at the time because he was confident that other settlers would soon follow him. He was correct, and soon other families, such as the Cartwrights and Hasanovs, arrived on Akila and helped construct Akila City. Akila City grew into a bustling regional hub, and when Solomon engineered an alliance between the Cheyenne and Volii systems, the city was made the capital of Freestar Collective. The oldest part of Akila City is The Core, an elevated and fortified settlement where the founding families built their homes. Since countless Ashta roamed the planet and proved to be a a cunning and deadly threat, Akila City had to be walled to keep them out. The center of the settlement was The Rock, which initially served as both a cantina and a meeting hall. Over time, new sets of walls were built around The Core, with the first expansion creating the Midtown district and the spaceport, and the third and most recent expansion creating The Stretch. In 2231, following the creation of the Freestar Rangers by the Council of Governors, the upper floors of The Rock were set aside for the Rangers' use. By 2330, The Core had become an exclusive neighborhood where descendants of the founding families resided, though vacated homes could be sold to outsiders with the approval of the city's historical society. Midtown and Coe Plaza hosted most of the city's businesses, services, and residences, while the poor and unfortunate lived in improvised shacks built in The Stretch. So yep. That’s a long time for the town to be so tiny. A central hub the size of a nickel.

Just discovered your channel yesterday. I really like your format for making these videos, it really helps me get my fix for Starfield while I am doing other things, and I can just listen. Most other Starfield videos mainly report news, and don't go in depth like this, too. I just had an idea after you mentioned space walking. You should be able to make more substantial repairs to your ship while outside of your ship. Maybe you couldn't fully repair it like a ship service technician, but better than just simply using ship parts while inside the ship.

I like starfield well enough that I play it, and I also avoided the hype train before purchasing and playing through at least once. That said, for a game they wanted to last as long as skyrim, they should have used a modern game creation engine, and focused a great deal more on optimization rather than how many low value misc. items you could relocate with a grenade. My personal biggest wish is to actually be able to reskin my space suits or guns at a crafting bench. Kinda irks me every time I see the nearly useless option during customization, and I prefer darker colors.

-Keep making more settlements & cities & storylines which further flesh out the lore of the Settled Systems with each DLC -If removing loading screens altogether is not realisitcally possible, at least find ways to disguise them to make them less immersion breaking (like an animation of your ship in a grav jump tunnel) -Similarly, make an option to disable fast travel altogether for those who don’t want it -Expand on the library of procedurally generated POIs to make exploration feel more interesting & meaningful. Add some new types of POIs, and add more possible layouts of the existing POIs so that even if you find two of the same type (e.g Abandoned Fuel Depot), at least there’s a good chance they won’t be EXACTLY the same.
@mccm333

Do people not find lots of POI layouts? Honestly wondering. Personally I have seen repeats for some “Abandoned” locations, but every citizen outpost I have found has a slightly different look and layout that seems to cater to the area on the planet.

One guy suggest using a white loading screen for when you grav jump. Currently the screen goes white from the special effect, but then you are hit with a black loading screen, a white screen would ease the transition. A hyperspace tunnel would be better though.

I think what lacks a ton is that on the planets where there ARE cities, there is just nothing outside of them. No smaller settlements, suburbs, things that relate to the city?? New Atlantis is decent size, but how has no one thought to go start another city on the same planet, or build outside of it? Has to be because of performance issues, but that is the biggest hole in this game. I don’t mind and actually kinda like the exploration on the planets with less human life, I think it makes sense, add some more random lore maybe.
@skyriminspace
@skyriminspace 6 ай бұрын
I'm no expert but i don't think that's a performance issue, well, not for higher spec systems at least. I think it's a development time issue. What strikes me about the cities is that there are 0 load screens. The cities are totally open! That means modders can just add entire new districts to extend NA or Akila, or put a whole new town somewhere nearby on the same tile.

I'm hoping that the code for Star Station creation is brought to life in an update or with DLC. A ship is a cool player home/transport, but it's not a BASE. I know outposts can fill this role, but I want my base in SPACE. I agree with you about space-walking. You have a jet-pack, there's the gymnastics skill, and there's definitely the opportunity for magnetized spacesuits and Expanse-style combat outside the ship. I want a better economy, and I think Starstations and outposts are great ways the player should be able to connect to it, rather than just buildinga standalone groupof settlements just for the sake of crafting and then selling things by carrying them in your hold. It should be a passive income system, with the ability to set up shops and services.

In my opinion is even when you speak to someone heard any gossip type you get a quest to look into something like skyrims guards. mechs and mech building how you build a starshit. space station with settlement builder.i also hope they start to hide some ofthe loading scren, i got no clue why the screen goes to black, during warpdrive, when it could be an animation that hides the loading screen. same with elevator, cause they actually did that in fallout 4. I dont think the game needs less loading screens, they only need to find tricks that hides em. no mans sky hides their loading screens. and having seamless flight would really make the space travel feel more like actual space travel

The enemies bothered me the most. They were just too easy to take down, dumb on their movements, and didn’t feel like there were a large variety of them. The other nuance I had was the outposts were just copied and pasted on different planets, their textures were the same, the loot crates were the same. Just no variety. It does feel a bit like barebones fresh Windows without adding your software to it. I just wish I knew that was the plan initially. There are tons of things I was disillusioned about not having found, and things that just plain should have been there to begin with. Being "overwhelmed at the sheer scale of the universe" gets old fast walking through barren wastelands for 5-10 minutes and I have been denied loot by falling spacers clipping through rocks

I have a big list of things I would like to see in future "live service" updates (mostly implementing game systems from previous BGS games, like underwater swimming), but I think my biggest desire is more lore in the form of more books, notes, and computer entries that tell us more of Starfield's setting and history. For example, when I took the Vanguard history tour, all of the Constellation companions hinted that the UC version of the Narion and Colony wars wasn't true or the full story. But there is no counter narrative. The history before the invention of the grav drive and formation of the UC is mostly non-existent.

I recently reinstalled this game to try out the new update and finish the Crimson Fleet quest because I never finished, and I'll give credit where it's due, I like how customizable the settings are now, I found the combat to be far too easy so I immediately set my difficulty to extreme and enemy difficulty to very easy. I still think it's too easy because how dumb the AI is, but I at least have to take cover now and actually try which is better I guess. Everything else in the update should have been in the game at launch though so no brownie points for those and I'm still waiting for a dedicated survival mode. As for the game itself..... Yeeeaaa I still don't like it, I think the biggest issue I have with this game, and I have a lot, is how it constantly kills my immersion. As a quick example, one of the quest for the Crimson Fleet has you sneak into an award ceremony/ball to steal an executives credentials, you also have another objective to steal the award itself. All you have to do is convince the lady who's job is to protect the award to let you see it. It only took me two convinces to do this, "I'm sure we can come to an agreement" and "I'm sure we can work something out." That's all it took convince this women, whos job is to literally protect this award, to give the keys to a complete stranger she has never met before, and is wearing Crimson Fleet Pirate armor (also, not a single person cared that some random dude wearing Pirate armor was walking around this ship, not even the guards) That's just one of many many examples where the game completely ruins any immersion I might've had. I'm still holding onto a sliver of hope that the expansion will change my opinion about this game, but if it doesn't I'm probably just gonna give up on this game. Anyways, thanks for reading my rant if you got all the way through.

My main issue with Starfield is that I HATE what it _is_ now, how it handles its core themes and gameplay, its fundamental worldbuilding, most of the characterization and writing, all of it. Without a major re-wright and fundamental re-design of nearly EVERYTHING in this dead-end universe, it will forever be the final nail in Bethesdas coffin for me. I _so_ wish there were a secret "true" ending where we END the unity, stopping the early destruction of Earth due to one man that wanted humanity to "reach the stars" WHEN THEY WERE ALREADY DOING THAT! Humanity is stubborn, we _will_ persevere, the ECS Constant practically _proves_ that. I want them to pull the current game from the shelves and _start_ _over_ again, they've said it themselves, they view the game itself as the "design document" and it shows. This game, more than ANY other Bethesda game, feels incomplete. It barely feels like a Beta version of a _real_ AAA game, I expected _so_ _much_ more from them and what they gave us feels the same level as "insulting" as the Star Wars sequel trilogy. How did they not anticipate people wanting to decorate their ships and control the layout of the interior. Seriously, the ship interior design feels like randomly generated space dungeons instead of a _vehicle_ _meant_ _to_ _transport_ _people_ and some have the _longest_ pathways from door to chair. They are, and have been, _aggressively_ monetizing their fans passion and I find what they've turned into disgusting. I would LOVE for someone to point out the good to me, and how I'm wrong about what I think is the bad, because I am _genuinely_ struggling to find it.

I think the problem with "Creations" is because of the payment system. You have to pay to use the mod. If it isn't good or not described well or whatever how do you get your money back? They would have less controversy if they had their own version of Ko-fi and Patreon. If you like the mod you give the mod author whatever you feel is right and MS/BGS takes a cut, or you "subscribe" or whatever to the mod author and give them X amount per month. Maybe with Patreon-esq tiers or just pick a number. Then MS/BGS gets a cut of that monthly amount. They still make money off mods but the community has more control and if a mod isn't what someone wanted they didn't waste their money.

I think that's where reviews are going to come in. Microsoft and Bethesda have been working hand in hand to make a marketplace comparable to Minecraft. I've bought a few mods for minecraft over the years and only 1 or 2 have really disappointed me. I also think there will still be plenty of free mods to play with like cosmetics... but bigger mods with drawn out stories will get a $ tag. Sim Settlements 2 deserves a $10 pricetag with how much time and energy and updates KG and team have put into it. Even though paid dlc is always a tough conversation piece, I also think subcontracted creators deserve a piece of the pie too. If it's officially in the paid creation club then it will get more visibility as well as being achievement appropriate (not breaking).

@@CatDadGamer right, but for example Damn Apocalypse is regularly described as a fantastic mod for a more "hard core" survival playthrough. A lot of the changes in that mod are fantastic and the author did a great job. I still wasn't a fan of the hunting and crop degradation systems and didn't know that until after I had played it for awhile. If I had to pay up front taking the reviews and recommendations as guarantee then I would still be unhappy I spent money on something. On the other hand, if I could pay what I want at any time (eg Ko-fi) then I could try it, realize it's not for me and keep going. For the people who did enjoy it they could give as much as they want. To use your SS2 example KingGath has spoken on his livestreams about how they have come up with ways for people to donate but still get something out of it, since the devs did not want to just be given money, so capping that at only a $10 would be leaving money on the table. MS/BGS want to do a set payment bc of corporate earnings pressure to pretend that they can predict incoming earnings. Yet that will be the thing that causes the problem. I've got no experience in Minecraft but I feel like they didn't have nearly 25 years of free mod content in that community before moving over to a store model, correct?

Is that what Starfield feels like? To me, it feels like an incomplete game. Skyrim... Solid foundation of a game. Oblivion, solid foundation of a game. Morrowind, solid foundation of a game. Fallout 3, would foundation of a game. Fallout 4, solid foundation of a game. And that is coming from someone who didn't enjoy half of that list, but can still see there being a solid foundation in each. A game with a solid foundation breeds a good player base. Making a game that promises to get good in the future is getting the cart before the squid. Maybe they will turn the game around, pull a cyberpunk or a no man's sky. But those two were stories of heavily-flawed games turning around... I find this the same as the modders will make a game great... Modders grow organically around games that invoke passion, and sadly, the passion Starfield has invoked is not positive. I don't think the passionate negativity is warranted, but it is a mid game, something that had potential, but due to decisions made, didn't live up to it's potential.

I think the R&D system is hit and miss. Developing pharmaceuticals and medical supplies from flora and fauna is really good, being forced to spend perk points into weapon and armor research is dumb because you're being forced to reinvent the wheel, 200 years of people tinkering with their gear would have led to a plethora of in-game mods being available for purchase from merchants. Custom ship building should have been a part of the R&D system instead. Research into fields found in laboratories and boss chests behind master locks would have made exploration much better. Cooking is almost entirely useless, why is it a part of R&D? And why the hell can't you craft your own ship parts for ship repairs?🤨

I've mod'd Beth games from Oblivion to fallout 4 and Skyrim. Tod really ticked off the modding community with his comments at the start. I know several big modders that are not going to mod starfield as they feel like they are being used for free and taken for granted by Tod Howard. This isn't all a bad thing as it will inject new blood into the starfield mods. It might help keep it from feeling like Skyrim in space. There was a DLC sized mod in planning to connect fallout 4 stuff into starfield. One Modder was planning on bringing the ability to create your own robots, like in fallout 4. A lot of the graphics modders will have to be new. So, it is sad but also will create more room for starfield to have its own mod feel. I still play and make small mods for Starfield on a personal level. We will see how the future is, it looks brighter. Good vids and love the positive vibe from you.

You have to download mods to make this game more than an empty wasteland. just over 100 GB of nothing and 100GB of space for mods. You make the game and then you play it alone. The end. Don't like that? Don't worry there is a mod for that mod at the mod store.

i think they should have just gone back the the FO4 camera, that was done well in comparison to starfield's version of bringing back the oblivion camera. but the decision in taking away the players voice with no togglable option to turn it on is a misstep in my opinion, the voiced player worked very well in FO4 for both male and female and i simply prefer it over the silent protagonist. there is this really cool mod in FO4 that adds the face light to activate on conversation so the NPC's face will be slightly lit by a warm light and it looks really good in conversations, why they couldn't do something like this in starfield is beyond me.

The only thing that will fundamentally change the game is the introduction of a different procedural generation mechanic that addresses the infuriating sameness of the planetary bases. I uninstalled the game mainly because I was sick of encountering the same 5 bases a hundred times on every single planet, with the exact same enemy types, and even with the same loot in the same place, again, and again, and again, and again. I will not reinstall Starfieldl if this is not addressed, and I will not pay money for expansions. Repetitiveness has killed the game for me.

Bad bones can't be fixed. It's precisely like a soulless live service pos that will get hamfisted with MTXs and trashy shop crap, especially given it FO76-esque loot system.

i refuse to buy player made mods, won't happen and can only be a detriment to the industry.

This was a decent video made way too late. It would have been a great video had it been made BEFORE Starfield released when all of the red flags leading to this video were present and easily seen by people who have experience playing space games. When I watched the June 2022 showcase, I immediately said that for Starfield to work it needed to be a Bethesda game attached to the single-payer version of Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous And look at you with this video almost two years later. You want a working metro system, EVA gameplay and basic functionality not sold to you piecemeal in the cash shop, JUST LIKE STAR CITIZEN. It's cute. At least team positivity is finally waking up. Now imagine something crazy. How about if the ships actually did something and weren't just flying dollhouses? That could be years of KZbin videos.

It isnt relevant, and it won't ever be. It's a terrible game. Mods wont save it as the modding community isnt thriving. The reason why it isnt thriving is because the figures on Steam are super troubling. You need players to sustain a healthy modding community. The players are leaving on the platform that is responsible for that. Starfield is not the next Skyrim. How this didnt get dumped alongside Redfall is a mystery to me. People are way to lenient to Bethesda than they should be. Even after they screwed their consumer base with 76... Starfield is considered a dumpster fire, a 5/10 game, but because it's Beth and they have a fanbase that refuses to let it go the game can survive as long as it has.

Nope, Starfield had 14 millions players last month with 40 hours average playtime. And now the official mod tools are out it's even more popular!

@StarOyster_ The number of players does not relate to how good a game is. All that means is that 14 million people are willing to chug the Bugthesda kool-aid no matter how much Todd Howard shits and pisses in it.
