I live in Canada, and always wanted a 2 dollar bill. I would go to my local currency exchange every now and then to see if they had one, and eventually they did. I was most pleased to find it to be a 1963 red seal. So Cool!

Actually it's partially coincidental - this was the video I was making when that story came out, but I wasn't able to finish it right away. I got some Red Seal 1963, $2’s hidden and I’m guessing they are low grade of 40-45 on condition I found a very used Red Seal $2, badly used. Just buy and use 2 bills and half dollar coins. The places you shop at regulatorily get used to them fast. No questions if not tell them to go their phone of information.. I just spend them , they are money. I never use cards the bank get a swipe fee of up to 4 dollars per 100! Even waiters in some restaurants have to pay to get their tips! NO Way! it's CASH FOR ME. AND THEM.

i had fun with some 2$ bills the other day i took out 7,500$ from my bank in cash and had my bank put 1k of 2$ bills in the paper sack. and i went to my credit union to pay off my credit card that had a lot of medical debt and the teller asked how much was in the sack i sad it's 7,500$ in mixed cash to pay off my credit card . and the teller and another teller walks over to the other side of the bank to cash counter . and when they were counting out the cash and got to the 2$ bills all i hear the teller's yell out he's paying off his credit card with 2$ bills . and main teller comes back to me in total shock and i'm standing there chuckling and the teller was like ok you got me. it made me feel better about paying the medical debt off. as the 1k In 2$ shock entertainment was priceless.

Found a bank envelope in my yard today when I was walking my dog. I picked it up and it had a red thing around 5 $2 dollar bills and one one dollar bill and the red band around the bills had $1,000 on it. The two dollar bills all have green seals but one has a green star next to the serial numbers. The one dollar bill looks way different than any other one dollar bill also

You didn't cover the "First Day of Release". These were allowed to have a postage stamp affixed to them stamped at the US Post Office with that date. I only had the money to get 25 of them with the different states. I still have them in my safe and they have never been folded or handled at all. I'm wondering if they are worth any extra.

I've got at least a couple hundred dollars in $2 bills. Quite a few are pristine condition, and sequential, about half, the rest are worn, folded, and dirty. Have 5 1953, and one 1963 red seals also. Fair to good condition.

Sounds good. Some people will pay more than face value for sequential pristine bills. I often make 15-20% on those. Your red seals could get $7-$10 each as well. That's if you ever want to sell any of them. The worn bills... just spend them.

What was tragic was that we were TOLD to turn in Silver Certificate for Federal Reserve Notes. Never knowing that it was not mandatory. And now find out those SC are worth more. Same with silver dollar coins. More government propaganda we had shoved down out throats.

People think the 1976s are the most rare because they're the oldest of the green-treasury-seal bills. But there were 400 million printed in that run, and no other run has come close to that. So yes, the 1976s are the most common even though many people stuffed theirs in a sock drawer for safe keeping.

You can try Greysheet. You need a subscription, but I think you get 10 free price-looks, so if you just want to look up one or two bills, that's a collector guideline to currency values. If you think you have something really valuable, take it directly to a local coin & currency dealer. But if it's a green treasury seal bill from 1976 or later, it's most likely worth $2. Finally, you can check sold comps on eBay to see what people are paying, because what a bill is worth really comes down to what you can get for it.

There are 12 district banks in the U.S., and when money is printed, it is usually for a particular region or regions that are low on supply of that denomination. So look at any piece of currency, see the district letter on the left and the city, and you'll know which Federal Reserve Bank was given that money to distribute to the banks in its region.

Yes... potentially. Does it have a postal cancellation stamp as well, with a date? If so, and if it's April 13, 1976, you have a bona fide first day issue, stamped on the day the bill was released, making it valuable to many. If it just has a random stamp on it like a regular piece of mail, someone has ruined that bill.

No bill in 1789. At least not a Federally-issued bill. You probably have what's called a broken bank note, and it would have great value. Take it to a local coin & currency dealer for an assessment. The 2017 bill falls into the group of green seal bills described in this video. Worth $2 unless it grades at a 63 or higher or has a fancy serial number or error.
