I visited my cousin in 1972 while he was a Corporal stationed at Ft. Hood so that I could get a 1st hand look at military life although I was a military brat living under the auspices of my retired Army father at the time. My cousin, the Corporal had paid his entire chain for him not report to work so that he could manage his prostitution ring of women living in 2 double wides whilst he drove around in 3 Porches. He got a Honorable Discharge after 7 years of manipulating his chain. And that's not 1/16th the whole story.

I was enlisted, got out, went ROTC, then reserve officer... Was XO in on unit and... offered command twice, turned down and other unit I was supply. Wellllll... I moved to xxx and resigned my commish so I could go to DINFOS (non officer visual information school) and... I went back to BOTH units as a SGT! It was incredible. I had people walk by me in hall, "Good Morning, MAAM"... catch themselves, about face and ask WTF??? It was epic. I will say this... We officers DO work hard too. Just a different way. SP4 to CPT to SSG!!!!! What a career!!!!
