Soooooo... this is a documentary.... Nothing like sitting on a promotion board for a field artillery unit and having the PFCs sitting there picking their noses. We ended up promoting the Soldier who refrained from nose picking. She turned out to be the right choice

I failed my promotion because I was 1lb over weight. Yet had high scores on everything else. The person that was promoted over me. Crashed the First Sargent’s Humbee not once but 5 time on post. He was transferred to another post. Then I got the promotion after 71 days of that fiasco.

@@Theggman83 I am referring to the Army Physical Fitness Test. When I was in, we used the 1980's test standard and I recall only 1person in my basic training company maxing out with a 300. I know they lowered the standards around late 1991, but my unit still used the old standard at least to the end of 1992 when I got out. My last APFT was 267 using the 1986 standard, but 293 (way over max run) on the 1992 standard.

@@NoFaceINoCase i know for a fact that they were lowered in 1992 from the 1987 standard because my pt test recorded on a 1987 scorecard was adjusted upwards from 267 to 293 (17-21 male category) with a run time which was well above the 100 point threshold. In my unit, all males were scored in 17-21 range, regardless of age.
