Kuba I have a theory that might catch your interest. I hope so... It goes like this... Basically it has to do a lot with time dilation between the nine realms. If I am not mistaken when Kratos travel to Hellheim from His own perspective it seems like time passes slower. In order for this to make actual sense time must go faster in Hellheim than in Midgard so that when someone travels back to Midgard it gets the feel to him/her that time got somewhat stuck there. When comparing Midgard with Jotunheim the same thing happens but in the opposite direction. In Jotunheim time must pass slower than that of Midgard so that when someone returns from Jotunheim they actually return to a Midgard from the future. I believe that Is how time travel mechanic is tied to the game. Imagine if Atreus for example were sent by Kratos to live in Hellheim for one Midgard year. That could probably equal to 15 years in Hellheim, since time passes faster there, so that when Atreus returns to Midgard he will be an adult and from Kratos perspective only one year has passed. So by having clarified how the time dilation mechanic works I Will just state my little theory. Since time passes in each realm differently since the beggining of all realms would not that mean that Hellheim for example Is more ahead in terms of quantity of events. Think of it has a race between all the realms since the beggining of time in which all of them compete to see who is more ahead in the future and Hellheim Is the one winning it since time passes faster there and more chains of events have ocurred there. So would not that technically mean that each time someone travels to Hellheim, he or she travels to the future since Hellheim Is the realm who Is the one most ahead in time? If that Is so then the same thing happens to Jotunheim but backwards. When someone travels to Jotunheim from Hellheim or Midgard they be travelling to the past since it Is a realm in which time passes slower and thus is behind in time. Another mechanic that Is implemented in the game Is the spacial mechanic in which all the realms are imposed spacially one on top of another. What I am trying to say is that all realms share the same spacial dimension and it is up to the player to activate each realm using the bifrost at Tyr's temple. So if each realm share the same spacial dimension and what actually changes Is the time dimension that means that in reality each realm Is in fact a period from the same space. Yes Tyr's temple Is in fact a time machine in which you travel to 9 different eons or eras (9 realms of the Iggdrasil tree) of the same location or space. I figured this too myself- What got it for me is that frumble winter began while Loki and Kratos were in Jotunhiem. Time traveled faster in midgard. While in Helhiem, it seemed like Kratos was gone for 20-30 mins in midgard but was probably gone for a few hours.

It could be kratos is the one who splinters the world tree by trying to cut it down. We would already have some forshadowing with the first game starting by cutting down a tree. Maybe he does it with the intention of sending everyone spiraling through time to have a better chance at victory.

I believe that in the previous timeline, Ragnarok played out exactly as it does in proper Norse mythology, with the one addition that Jormangander was sent back in time and Fay did her time-traveling adventures as well. I believe that Loki and all of his siblings and children existed in the previous timeline, with Fay being his mother, but Kratos was not his father. His parentage changed with the introduction of Kratos in the new timeline.

Might be a wild stretch but adding from what you said, what if in the beginning of ragnarok, Faye was consulting with the other giants trying to find anything or someone that might tip the balance in their favour. One of the solutions is recruiting someone of considerable strength. Faye mentions "The Ghost Of Sparta". The giants are against this, even thought he is powerful, its also known that he destroyed the greek pantheon. So this solution is seen as too much of a risk. Not only would it blow up in their face, Odin could use his cunning trickery to somehow turn Kratos against the giants. So this solution is dropped. Now fast foward a bit and the giants are losing the battle, the W.S is sent back in time in his battle against thor ( Kuba's theory ) At this point Faye brings up Kratos as a solution again to the giants, some are still against it but at this point have nothing to lose. Faye ( using whatever probability magics or something that shows alternative timelines throught different actions/decisions like what dr strange did Infinite war or whatever the santa monica comes up with ) shows the giants a future which could help them and that future must include Kratos which in turn includes the main key ( loki who is fathered by kratos ) Faye would need to go back in time ( again Kuba theory ) in order to set the preferred future on track.

There won’t be any time travel. This is just their version of the lore. Most of the myths involving Norse gods are very open and have different things attributed that happen. In the end Thor and Odin will die Freya will change and become the leader she was meant to be of the Norse pantheon and Atreus and angrabota will be apart of it. Where as Kratos will be drawn to go to Egypt for whatever reason starting a new 2part sequel or 3 chapter saga. Where in one of the games he will need his son to defeat some Egyptian god where Atreus all grow up at the time will join his father for a brief period in the game

Atreus has always been there in all the timelines, at-least that’s what I think, Because the foreshadowing of it are enormous. Just like you said, The boy seemed familiar. Similarly, Modi says I’m going to make you my new brother. Mimir has also stated that Thor is a Lustful monster. So maybe in the original timeline. Thor rapped Faye and Atreus was born which actually ignited the war between Giants and Aesir Gods. Later, The giants fight a battle against Aesir Gods and that’s when, Jormungandr comes to the new timeline. I believe, Aesir Gods won that war and prevented Ragnarok

You said that all of the pantheon live under one world right? Imagine this, you are on the war with the norse god, but on the first battle, the outcome was not in your fave. But then you heard a marked warrior on the other side of the world take down the greek gods. So now you found the one thing that can turn the tides of the war. Changing the outcome and control. Even when your life was taken, the outcome can change. Odin on the other hand wants to control the outcome also. But did not know about Kratos, Odin was trying to control the outcome of Ragnarok but did not manage to find Kratos sooner than Faye. So it is a big loss for Odin.

The pantheons are not on the same planet. Each a pantheon is referred to as its own world or universe with in the lore. It makes sense as jormungandur is so large he covers the world if the Greek pantheon and norse pantheon were on the same world or planet than the Greek pantheon would be able to see jormungandurs body within their pantheon

Thor fights the younger one from this timeline where he sends it back in time and then the older one from the previous timeline fights Thor in which they kill each other as in the mythology? Hey Kuba, new theory! When we meet Sindri for the first time, look after his intro is complete. There are two trolls standing, made of stone. But they do not attck obviously. Same encounter is after opening the door to the black breath after we fight the Oger for the first time. There is a Troll made of Stone. I think someone from the Future has came back to fight them because when we go to see the mountain again after Atreus knows that he is a God, we see that all the trolls have been broken and disappeared. I think that "someone" who also blew the horn, fought the stone trolls. Oh and I think these trolls are from Jötunheim or Svartalfheim, as they are made of stone, but I could be wrong man. Love the Theory Kaptain. Although, I was under the impression Fimbulwinter occurred 100 years earlier due to Kratos' arrival as Magni, Modi and Buldur played big parts of Ragnarok. I feel like with the branch timeline logic, this theory would actually have a problem with the snake travelling back in time. Faye was still in the original timeline when the snake was sent back and created a branch timeline. Meaning that Faye went back in time later compared to the snake and thus would have created a second branch timeline. The snake cannot be in this second timeline since he was sent into the first branch timeline. I don't know if this makes sense. Time travel hurts my brain.

(today's science say no but even einstein just revoluted the science... even twice!!! so...) in this case the time travel work what the author want!!! if they want then they rewrite the past and even make loops and holes even looks like in gow the time travel not started in a certain point so there is no original past but started with the zero time! what it's mean even in the first timeline it's happened... even they can say in the ragnarok the space-time just damaged even destroyed! or we can say in the norse gods realm there is an another space-time and has no effects with the greek realm! the divine realms just reach the mortals realms and only that mortals parts can reach! like the scandinavian gods realm reach only the nordic europe and has effect on only that area greco-roman realm reach only greece and has effects only on that area so the time travels has no effects on the different realms

I find it very interesting that all the mythology that Mimir talks about, he talks as if it's already happened. Which Greek and Norse mythology do themselves when telling stories from their Ancient past. Notice it a lot with GoW and one of my first clues to time travel.

It is a pretty easy Platinum. The only difficult thing is killing all the Valkyries. But if it gets too hard just put it on easy. And getting all the treasures in the realm of frost and mist. That is pretty time consuming.

I love the theory, because I came up with a similar one, but you mentioned Faye brought, who would be her grandchildren, back to the past, so Loki has to be born in her timeline to give birth to her grandchildren. So my theory lines up with yours about a different path that Kratos threw off when he landed, except in my theory, Loki is already grown, and his father is someone else, a regular giant, Farbauti, who isn't as powerful as Kratos. And the "weaker" Loki, goes down the same path Loki does in the mythos, being adopted, raised by Aesir, only to kill Baldur, and start Ragnarok, etc. Since giants can see prophecy, they see Loki as their savior, except that in every timeline but the one that we play, he gets caught and defeated as per usual, so the giants aren't sure when their vision will come true, they just see a timeline where it does. In the timeline we play, Kratos is there to replace Farbauti, and just like your theory with future Faye bringing Kratos to past Faye, mine continues there. She never met Farbauti in our timeline, but the giants of the other timelines predicted she will give birth to their savior Loki, whos father is Farbauti, so they named Kratos "Farbauti" because of the visions they saw.

Hey Kuba, I hope we get some previous ragnarok knowledge, maybe the events happen again and we realise the prophecy is continueing and may be bound to happen once more, but in the end breaking the prophecy of ragnarok somehow. I'm just curious to see what Atreus will end up as. Does Kratos die? Does Atreus go on his own? Where does Kratos go then? So many questions, so little answers.😔 I'm dutch and my local gamestore had the GoW pre order up before the release of the world wide preorders, and I called them friday and got to lock down the LAST collectors box. How would the first timeline fimblewinter and then Ragnarok start without the death of boldur? Without loki how would he die? I think loki along with his role in starting Ragnarok is inevitable in any timeline or cycle. Now the time when loki starts fimblewinter, his age and other loki choices isn't necessarily determined or predestined. Loki will always exist at a time to fulfill the beginning of the end just like surtr will always have a role in the end no matter when things start. Now my theory is that all other timelines kratos isn't Loki's dad. I think the timeline when jormengandr gets sent back tyr is Loki's father. I think it must be a god of war that father's Loki. I think in every new timeline Odin has learned more and changes one thing at a time that effects the new cycle. Meaning I think Odin intentionally had jormengandr sent back in time, knowing it would lead to Ragnarok starting sooner. So when jormengandr got sent back in time it changed the future of that timeline. The giants saw the change in their future and started to council a plan. Faye would tell tyr he can't father their future child, nor other gods of war because those lokis would never make the needed choices along the way. It has to be kratos. Probably to serve as a way for Atreus yo be different in his choices like if he kills anyone or if he impulsively does something that ruins the win so to speak. So tyr in this timeline goes after finding a way to bring kratos to Norse pantheon. Now I believe this Odin, with all that he's learned somehow from every other cycle, knows about kratos. I think it's possible that Odin also sent that his cycles Thor back in time with the snake. My reason for that is maybe the Thor that asks kratos if he's a calm and reasonable person is trying to compromise or corporate with him. Telling him stuff he wouldn't otherwise know. Anyway, so in our cycle I also think if it wasn't tyr that got kratos, maybe it was Odin himself? I think every choice Odin makes like banning Freya to mudguard was centered around his knowledge of kratos and what just happened. Like Mimir said to kratos about how Odin knew they would seek the giants realm, "it doesn't matter that he knew you'd go there before you did, what matters is he was right". Now ultimately I think Faye gave the axe to kratos not to kill Odin or Thor with it necessarily. Kratos in the cutscenes trailers said war may not need to be the answer. Perhaps he just uses the axe to put out the fire surtr starts in Asgard and someone else like Odin kills surtr. Probably a betrayal by him. That word betrayal... And who's Odin a father of ...? Is it tyr dying on the lap of Atreus in the mural...??? 🤔 😁

Now I’m starting to think the jotunheim we saw at the end of the game, was from the first timeline that would’ve happened if we had not altered it. We were able to see what would happen to the realm if ragnarok happens as planned so we are basically seeing the future of a timeline that won’t happen anymore because of us. I think in that version we see, everything happened exactly according to Norse mythology. Since we came in and changed things, now anything can happen so some stuff won’t be exactly according to the myth as you can see by the death of magni which shouldn’t happen until ragnarok which also means Odin would have been the one to change fate if he killed tyr which is another reason why I never believed he was dead

This seems like a solid theory, but I've found a problem: in god of war 2018, the serpent tells Mimir that Atreus/loki is familiar to him, so we can assume that Atreus exists in the first timeline and could be Loki also.

I don't understand how Kratos would be absent from the first timeline. correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the rock in the back of Kratos's home show the journey that Faye and Kratos took, instead of it being Atreus and Kratos. Plus, besides the obvious that none of Loki's children would've have been born; how would Jörmungandr( from the first timeline) recognise Atreus.

That rock and the murals are there because of Faye's foresight which some giants possess to varying degrees. That's how she knew what was to happen. Has nothing to do with the other timeline. My personal take is that Odin or somebody else fathered Loki in another timeline. Kratos simply changes things by meeting Faye and falling in love with her. This in turn creates Atreus, who is good, rather than an evil trickster Loki

personally i think the wolves that dragged Kratos to Scandinavia (at least 2 of the 3) are the same ones driving our sled. ones black and ones grey. remember the orangish tail on the grey one kuba? kinda looks like atreus hair color from the first game, i think that's significant. Perhaps Tyr helped with Faye going to get Kratos. Using his unity stone to open the pathway that led to Kratos. Perhaps it was even Tyr that told Faye about Kratos. We know that Tyr knew of Kratos due to vase being in his temple, and who better to take down a pantheon of gods then Kratos. Someone who already had.
