@76ToneCrome Go watch the Australian movie The Walkabout. She and her little brother are left to die by her father, who commits suicide in the outback. He just shoots himself in front of his kids in the middle of nowhere. She and her brother are befriended by an aboriginal boy. Then their journey begins. That's all I will say. She's also in Logans Run.Thats a heart fluttering film...

The fact that this whole movie is supposedly 100% practical effects is absolutely INSANE! No CGI, no outside effects, just pure makeup and a script, maybe some accidental scenes or improv. These types of movies are absolutely golden because of how they can be funny on set, but horrifying in cinemas. I'm very entertained by lycanthrope movies, but movies in general that are all practical, those are a breath of fresh air to me, a person who was born in the late 2000's.

Not really a part of the movie, but when I was stationed in the UK in the mid 90s with the US Air Force, I lived just outside London. During one of my many, many trips into London (20 min. from nearest Tube station) I took my visiting sister-in-law with me, and took her to lunch at Lee Ho Fook's. I didn't order a big dish of beef chow mein, but I DID pick up a business card for a souvenir which I keep in my Warren Zevon "Excitable Boy" CD case. Lee Ho Fook's has sadly gone out of business and is replaced by a dumpling restaurant. Grateful for the opportunity to to visit a "Werewolves Of London" landmark! Ahh-WHOOOOOOOOO!

@MoviesMusicMonsters Brilliant as always Dan, found memories of renting the VHS from our local store. Would have been interesting - 'It's 106 miles to the Slaughtered Lamb, we got a full back pack, half a pack of Kendal Mint Cake, it's dark... and we're being stalked by a Werewolf'.............edit...............after finishing watching this you are spot on, this movie, a long with a few others should never be remade. What makes this movie stand out, even today, is the special effects. 'Oscar' is without a doubt the most menacing Werewolf ever created, the way it walked through Piccadilly, snapping at people, was outstanding. The howl, even to this day, would eradicate the worse case of constipation if you heard it. This channel brings a great deal of respect to the classic movies, and your way of presenting complements very well.

Welcome home, Dan! Glad you enjoyed your holiday in London. An American Werewolf in London is a personal favorite. I think I still may be crushing on the lovely Jenny Agutter a little. That gorgeous lady almost stole my heart. ❤️ But I digress. John Landis did an excellent job directing. David Naughton and the rest of the cast were pretty awesome with their roles, too. One of my favorite scenes occurred at the pub when some of the locals start making those tasteless jokes. Hard to believe that 43 years have come and gone since this very interesting film was in theaters. 😁 🎥 Thanks for covering this fantastic modern classic Dan.

One of my favorites so thanks for taking us back. You mentioned Rick Baker so many times and so rightfully so. That was stand-out. The comedy was stand-out too and the two male leads pulled it off. Horror-Comedy is a format now but not back then. Besides the “Dr Pepper” thing you could have mentioned David Naughton’s singing career as he had a hit with a song called Making It. Thought the music in the soundtrack was funny too in a subtle way with all the Moon-related songs. Didn’t know it was shot sequentially as I can see Roger Ebert’s point in some way as I feel the ending was rushed and then it just suddenly ended. Maybe they ran out of budget? One of my all-time favorite horror movies!!

John Landis, a very talented filmmaker from comedy to horror - very underrated, his name seems to be forgotten when people in general are listing the great filmmakers of our time. Hey Dan, one thing you didn't mention was that in 1997, BBC Radio did a full cast radio adaptation of the film. John Landis gave them the original script, and served as creative consultant. A few cast members reprised their roles including Jenny Agutter, John Woodvine, and Brian Glover. It expands on the movie, going more in depth on how the werewolf that attacked David and Jack is (literally) related to the villagers of East Proctor, as well as scenes of Jack in the afterlife and learning about the curse of the werewolf...from the werewolf that killed him. Some of the acting, and American accents, is suspect but I've always enjoyed the program very much. It's available to listen to right here on KZbin.

Mad Max was another movie that was shot in sequence. George Miller did it this way because it was his first film and he just thought that was the way movies were made at that time.

@@jetsons101 I didn't see it in the theater either, but I would have liked to also. I was 6 when it came out. It is actually my favorite of the entire series. Even over Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, which introduced me to this film series as it did for a lot of us. I like those old '60's-80's grindhouse/drive-in B-movies.

All landus movies are must see over and over. Certain moods elicit certain movies to be must watches by John. Werewolf is a Halloween must watch classic. Twilight zone occasionally, blue's brothers frequently,a masterpiece in and of itself as one of the greatest movies ever made. Excellent job Dan 😂❤

Great deep dive. I saw it only once, and i didn't get it back then. It was on TV one night, and i guess it was cut too much. The effects looked great. And i still love the Thriller video, watch or listen to it a few times a month. Especially the Vincent Price parts are so cool. Max Landis making a movie his dad already did... well, we have seen how that turned out with Ghostbusters... I wish you good luck in getting in tought with Bob to check his stuff out. Looking forward to all the mentioned movies :)

You could do a whole video on just Bob Burns basement. I'd love to hear an update on how Bob is doing. Ghostbusters was one of my favorite shows as a young kid...and I mean the Storch/Tucker/Burns version.

Great video and I absolutely LOVED the photos of the shape shifting apparatus. Small point though, Griffin Dunne pronounces his last name same as "done" NOT "dune." Look up the video interview _Griffin Dunne - A Life In Hollywood._

Thanks for the review Dan. This is my favourite monster movie. I was 15 when it was released and was, and still am in awe of it. One of the villagers, in the pub was Rik Mayall. He would go on to star (the following year) as Rick, Iin the popular stcom, over here in the UK called the "The young ones".

Jenny Agutter *sigh*. Is there anything she can’t make better? And yes, the cut scene with her…. DAMN! Pretty cool seeing what looked like and Arri 35BL. I repaired one once. It's a workhorse!
