Close Enough did something refreshing for an adult animated show and didn't rely heavily on cussing, sex jokes, or other kinds of juvenile "adult" humor to be funny. It was subtle with most of the humor coming from the scenarios and not from the sex jokes

This show was originally supposed to be broadcast on TBS, but then they delayed the release of this show by about 2 years to when HBO Max would be launched. That alone was a massive sign of things, and would ultimately be a very huge mistake that should not go understated.

I got this video recommended for me and I've been dreading watching it, so I've been avoiding it. It makes me so upset to think about Close Enough now. I absolutely loved Close Enough and I will never forgive WBD for canceling and removing it as well as the other countless programs they tossed away for a tax write off. I didn't even get to watch season 3 since they almost immediately canceled and removed it after the 3rd season came out. The fact that Velma was made and is getting a second season yet things like Close Enough and the spiritual successor to Batman the Animated Series got axed is insane! I'm glad the Batman show is not moving to Amazon, but it would be awesome if the same would happen for Close Enough.

This just proves that animation departments/studios attached to big names like Max, Netflix, and even Disney, aren’t gonna thrive anymore. I feel like the only real way we’ll get quality shows (and not soulless cash grabs) like Close Enough, Beastars, and Final Space itself is to start supporting animators directly. There’s definitely a risk that comes with crowdfunding, but I feel like we could all get behind supporting established animators and their teams. It’ll also make viewers feel closer to creators, which in turn can garner more funding/support. I mean, instead of paying up to $20 a month for Max or any other stale platform for only a few shows I actually like, I’d prefer to shill out $5-$10 monthly to the people who make my favorite animations with love and passion. It’s just a matter of getting viewers on board.

I feel like modern, particularly adult, animated tv shows that don't have decades of being popular and on the air pre-streaming are very likely to get canned before they ever reach more than one or two seasons. Companies now absolutely place absurdly over the top viewer requirements for the show to continue, because these shows take a long time to make and are very expensive to make. Even if a show is popular with its fans, if EVERYONE isn't watching it or buying subscriptions to the service that provides it, then its not profitable, and it gets nuked.

That's actually a great way to look at it: Regular Show was most relatable for young adults, while Close Enough dives into the next stage in life. Close Enough was actually a good show, and the fact that they cancelled it but kept Velma is pretty sad. If you think about it, I see Close Enough as a mix of Regular Show, Family Guy, and Rick and Morty, in ways.

Personally I was never a Regular Show fan (no strong opinion either way) but LOVED Close Enough. It legit became my comfort show. When I'm not feeling well I had it on in the back ground, if new company was coming over it played, when I needed a laugh and to feel cozy IT WAS ON I will forever be mad that this show was canned. Too many shows were given the cut, the biggest loss I think was Infinity Train (THE LAST SEASON IS LITERALLY ALL WRITTEN) and if I win the lottery that's one of the first self-serving things I would do.

Loved Regular show, and Loved Close enough, was really sad when it ended, Alot of the family jokes in Close enough I can relate to, due to having children at the same sorta time, like the first sleep over allowedin Josh and Emily time together, just be be filled with odd jobs they couldnt do normally, form then I always saw Regular show as Quintel in his 20's and Close Enough was him in his 30's the things I feel like let it down was the short story format, if they made 22min episodes not 11, and it was drowning in a sea of edgy gross out adult animations, and in particular I think Rick and Mortys over the top gross out storys ruined it for a lot of animated shows. I forgot Logans was the Lemon dream time tea, I had Alex saying "Lemon Dream time" as my text tone for about a year
