Let us address the elephant in the room... Your Skylander chips are not dying anytime soon! Someone actually talked to the guy who made them, and he said that they will last a vary.. vary.. vary.. long time. So no.. the skylanders figures are not dying, and that was proven to be false. @@OvalCreations Your fine bro.. this false information came from a tik tok, and what people don't realize is that if your figure doesn't work it was most likely mistreated/or dropped. Some skylander figures can have a chance of a problem if you buy pre-owned, and sadly that is the only way to get them unless you want to drop the bank. The figures themselves will eventually die in the far future but it shouldn't be for another 50+ years, and that will probably give Activision/Microsoft plenty of time to potentially remaster the games digitally without figures. My information comes from an interview video with the man who programmed/created the skylander chips.

I loved skylanders. I remembered how hype I was to get Thumpback for my birthday in 2013. When I grew up, I stopped playing the games and eventually sold all my Skylanders to EB Games. I wish i could my skylanders back, just for one last ride.

I’m starting to see a rise in Skylanders videos and I’m so happy to be able to say that. I miss this franchise so much, so much nostalgia even seeing this fr lol. Hopefully with the rise in Skylanders videos and people talking about it more and more it might gain the attention of Toys for Bob and or Activision to be able to push a 7th one out. But who knows honestly, if the people want it enough then I’d say they’d do it bc yk it’s a good idea and good way for the company to get more money as well as revive the series

I got into the 'Toys to life' craze way too late. The game i played was Starlink by Ubisoft. That game was fun to me but relied heavily on buying the toys for weapons and ships. But the game sadly flopped because it came out after Disney infinity and skylander franchise had fizzled out.

Me and my brother were massive skylander fans, but not the ones with massive collections eg we had a few extra skylanders but starter traps and car. we played the trap team, superchargers and imaginators over and over and I would've never guessed they made one per year. Honestly the biggest complaint I have is how they ruined the in game card game in imaginators, we would take turns to play but "creation clash" is just dumb Edit: also the tower defence minigame is goated

What they need to do is bring Skylanders back in another matter. Like have Netflix continue its skylanders show or have someone else buy it and continue it. Make a Skylanders movie since video game movies are becoming a big thing. But Spyro and Crash should get their own movies first and then the first skylanders movie wouldn’t have either of them and they become honorary Skylanders when they come to skylandes through some inter dimensional event

Personally if I were to bring the franchise back I’d release a remastered version of the first 4 games for new consoles to bring back old fans and introduce the franchise to a new generation. The twist would be that it would all be completely digital and you wouldn’t need buy any figures to play the game. You’d unlock characters when you unlock their soul gems in the different levels but you’d start the game out with the starter pack characters already unlocked. I would also make it where you could plug and of your old portals into your console and scan your old figures in and you’d unlock certain gear and cosmetics only available through your old figures, kinda like what Nintendo does with amiibo’s where you don’t need them to play the game. I would save the introduction of the light and dark elements and have that be the gimmick of the new story, story wise superchargers and imaginators would be completely retconned and Kaos’ story as a villain would end with him being trapped in trap team

In terms of Skylanders coming back… this is the problem. Removing the collectible figures part removes part of the magic of the franchise, but trying it again could cause a repeat of wallet crashing and burn outs. They need to find a new way to incentivize “collecting” the Skylanders without buying them. Collectible RFID cards could be a cheaper and easier to mass produce option compared to figures, and would be easier for collectors to store via card binders, but it wouldn’t be as immersive. They could just completely drop the RFID stuff and have you start with a select few Skylanders (like the starter packs) and have to rescue/unlock the rest of them as you play through the game. The problem with this is backwards compatibility with Skylanders from previous games. They would have to make Skylanders from previous games available from the start. And then there’s the shenanigans with series reposes, lightcores, in-game variants, and chase variants. Unless they were made into alternate skins you can wear, it’d be confusing unlocking, for example, Spyro, Spyro again (series 2/3), Dark Spyro, Legendary Spyro… you get the point. As for Magic Items, ETC… similar idea. Find/unlock them, and give them a cooldown so they can’t be spammed. Level/Adventure Packs wouldn’t have a reason to exist, unless they were released as DLC. As for how “rescuing” the new Skylanders each game could work… perhaps in a similar vain to what happened in Spyro’s Adventure, the Skylanders are petrified and turned into statues, but are locked away somewhere in Skylands instead of being sent to Earth. A nod to the figure aspect so it’s at least SOMEWHAT still relevant in the lore, without forcing people to hunt for them in stores. Also another random thing. GIVE MORE USES FOR TREASURE. Once you unlock all the upgrades, treasure just racks up in your Skylander’s inventory until it hits max. They could bring back hats and alt costumes as pure cosmetics in a shop that you can buy with treasure, and they could also go the extra mile and let you spend treasure for permanent stat boosts, reminiscent of the Heroic Challenges. This would be especially useful for older Skylanders with weaker stats due to the power creep of enemies and bosses in new games.

I remember how great giants was, then having my mind absolutely blown at how beautiful swap force was, (skipping trap team), then playing superchargers 5 years later and being more disappointed than coming home to a roast in the crock pot after school. I've gone back and replayed the older Skylanders games up to trap team with my friends, and they're still so dang good. But the last two are the definition of mid.
