Absolutely one of the best British soaps ever. Would loved to have seen more coverage of the cast, such as Mick Jonno, Barry Grant, Max Farnham, in fact, all of the cast. But this clip was a real tasty teaser, so well done to you.

I loved Brookside but went of it when they started to bring some unlikable characters/actors in like Ron Dixon and Claire Sweeney - the nail in the coffin for me though was Jimmy Corkhill - dreadfully over acted and if that wasnt bad enough the character started to take over the whole show - it all became just too much to take - earlier on though with The Grants ,The Collins"s and the Jacksons - Marie Jackson probably being the best battleaxe ever in any soap, the show was way above its competition for a good number of years.

apart from Matt Musgrove from Brookside to Hollyoaks , NO Other Character moved to another soap with there SAME name. Think About Karen Mcdonald from Corrie moving to Emmerdale & have a Fight with Chas Dingle.

Sadly Brian fell on hard times and drifted into a life of crime. He served a prison term for his involvement as a driver in a planned murder

Watching the early years again on STV loved the programme but the acting by some was awful it tried to go too silly with the story lines. The beauty of Brookside was gritty reality but it lost its way and tried to emuiate doomenders. Soaps now are all vying for who is the most miserable and if it comes back it should follow the original ethos get rid of the shops just the close and family dynamics. Jimmy Corkhill etc should not come back start again with all unknowns. The only ones I would bring back are Damon Ducksie and Gizzmo. All now with grown up families.

Claire Sweeney did not have a 10 year stint on Brookside. She only became a regular cast member in 1996.
