I remember the day I first saw the mummy. I was 10 (32 now) and My dad (65 today and retired now) had a heart attack he was in surgery and my uncle took me to his place. He was trying to distract my brother and I and he put The Mummy on. After seeing the movie i loved everything about it. I’ve seen the movie 20+ times since than. It's an amazing movie and one that i will always love.

Such a great movie! No politics. No overbearing themes. No attempt to heighten the material to be more serious than it should be... Just a fun, campy, action flick! Hard to imagine that movies with world-ending stakes used to do so with a small, contained story!

Absolutely f**king love this movie!! Think I saw it at least 3-4 times when it was released and of course now have it on DVD. But I always thought it was really stupid of those ancient Egyptians to basically make some guy they wanted to punish a super villain, lol:) I mean, ok, mummify him alive, great. Put a load of flesh eating beetles in his sarcophagus, nice .... but leave the book that can bring him back to life with super powers right next to his body?! WTF?!
@Leviathan_669Ай бұрын
The curse was also a punishment for Imhotep. It condemned his soul to never truly move on after death. The downside was the “if he’s resurrected” part. It’s why they said the curse was so feared by the Egyptians that it had never before been bestowed upon someone. Plus, I’m sure they were thinking “once people read what’ll happen if he’s resurrected they’ll change their minds and just leave him.” Lmao 😅

Definitely a fun movie. I've seen it a few times over the years, maybe more than a few. My only wish is that they would have leaned into the horror a bit more.

I love this movie. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have great chemistry together. The whole thing is a wonderful adventure, with a beautiful score. It's more action rather than horror, but still a fun watch. Let's remember Boris Karloff wears bandages only in the first scene, and in a flashback. The rest of the time, he is his marvelous, creepy self. And although Christopher Lee wears bandages, he plays it straight as a tragic figure, and a brutal, unstoppable force of destruction.

So glad to hear a continuation is one of the "Dark Universe" projects, but given that it's implied "Van Helsing" is in the same universe it makes one wonder why they didn't get Sommers for any consultation. We know he isn't much for sequels, but they need their own Feige for a connected universe.

Universal got greedy. They saw how Marvel was making money from the MCU movies and wanted to get a piece of the pie so bad they ruined everything great about this Mummy movie and it's sequels. They should have combined the worlds of this Mummy with the world setup in Dracula Untold and the 2010 Wolfman to create their Dark Universe. That's what made all the Marvel movies work to create the MCU. They were all great stand alone stories that setup the events to come without needing to go into much detail. Universal just decided to reboot it all into one movie and expect it to work because they had big names like Cruise and Crowe.

Loved this movie. Saw it in a theatre with some classmates. The CGI is shit, but the rest of this film holds up well. This is a kind of action adventure Hollywood doesn't do anymore cos they're to busy grooming other people's children. Also, Brendan Fraser is a fucking Legend.
