@@jema2609 Fun fact about Margaret Atwood. She refuses to call her works "science fiction" and gets annoyed when other people do, because she purposely never includes something that has not already happened at some point in human history. So that people cannot say "this is unrealistic, or "that would never happen"... like "sir, it already has."🤨

@@jema2609 I understand, but I think it’s very important to watch, especially now when all these anti-women laws are being passed. As another commenter said above, the author of the book (Margaret Atwood) said that everything that happens in it has happened to women in different countries in the world and in different times, so it’s all real. We have to understand what some men, and even some women, especially in government and religion are willing, and even happy, to do terrible things to women so we must be ready to fight against them. Some men, again - and women (Ann Coulter) are even saying that our government should take women’s right to vote away! Our right to vote is the ONLY right women have in the U.S. Constitution. Ladies, fight for your rights!

I was SA’d by a guy I thought was my friend because I said NO! He knew I was a virgin and he still forced himself on me. I fought back and bit him and he claimed I injured him so bad that he had to go to the hospital. He threatened to harm my family if I didn’t give him money. I called the police but they said I didn’t have any proof so I never received justice. I fell into a deep depression and even contemplating suicide. My friends turned against me because I brought “ negative vibes “. My own mother said I should have never invited him to the room and my cousin called me “ damaged goods “. I’m still in therapy to this day. This is why I choose the bear. At least if I was attacked by a bear, they would believe me.

I was in Bloomington a couple of months ago visiting my niece for her birthday, and we went to Mall of America for a shopping spree and lunch. We went into Sea Life Aquarium, and were accosted by a group of bm dudes wanting her attention (she is a gorgeous and red boned 22 year old). She very politely declined, and we kept on walking. But NO, they couldn't let it go at that. They kept following us and pumping each other up. I then turned around and asked them if they wanted to see my ghetto come out. They called me a few choice names and proceeded to threaten my niece. Luckily, security came over and separated us. They held the guys there until we left the aquarium and put a good distance between us. When we sat down for dinner, she was so upset that she couldn't even enjoy her meal that I ordered especially for her. They put a damper on her special day. After that, she took down all her social media for fear they would stalk her. 😢 People need to start actually raising their sons. I don't know wtf parents are doing, but it's certainly not parenting with these boys.

How many women have rejected guys by telling them "You are a very nice guy", or "I am a lesbian", or "I am not looking for a relationship right now". And by doing that we are unwittingly teaching them that not only do we owe them an explanation for rejecting them, but we owe them a SATISFYING explanation. And now they think they can negotiate, when a simple no should have closed the conversation...

I have expertise in this area, having chased off men and bears. As a single, Canadian women at 40, I have actually had to chase off an agressive bear before, all by myself. I was fast asleep in my tent with the flaps up because of the heat. I woke up to immediately gaze into the eyes of a black bear that was 2 feet away, standing over me. I stayed calm and carefully got out of my tent and made loud noises and aggressive gestures and the bear decided fighting me wasn't worth it. As a Canadian, I've encountered dozens and dozens of bears in my lifetime. I get the impression from a lot of men in these response videos, that they don't have any bear or wilderness experience. Sort of in the same way that a lot of men didn't think that women's MeToo stories were true, because they hadn't experienced that type of sexual harassment. And as a city dweller, I have in fact been chased by a man trying to rape me. A man tried following me home. Ive been groped, threatened and harassed by multiple men. I have taken bear courses. I feel good about hiking and camping solo. I have also taken self defense courses and gun courses. I do walk with pepper spray and rape alarms because of MEN. I would 1000% percent prefer the bear.

We never laid eyes on each other before. I declined for a straight hour. An hour! He gave me every reason. I think I'm too good, he knows I think he is sexy, everyone needs sex at some point in time because no one can spend their whole life without sex and he's trying to give me that. I remember I was 15 and it was raining. I was standing at the bus stop under it so I didn’t have my hood on because I was covered. A man pulled up and said I was beautiful and asked me for my number. I could tell he was much older than me so I said no I’m only 15. He made a U-turn, drove back past me but got close to the curb and splashed a bunch of water on me. I couldn’t believe a GROWN man was insulted by a 15 year old telling him no. I’m older now and I can also recall several men calling me the B-word for not giving them my number. It’s very strange and something I’ll never understand

that’s hilarious and also incredibly sad. I remember a few years ago witnessing a group of young girls (13-14 maybe) walking home from school, still literally wearing school uniform and getting beeped at and hollered at (is that the right word?) whilst crossing the road, by an obviously much older guy judging by his voice. those girls went from chatting and laughing together to complete silence and you could tell they were uncomfortable from the situation and that the guy wasn’t at all someone they knew. I felt so bad I almost wanted to ask if they were okay but they were a significant distance away and I’m shy anyways but I think about that situation often. I was technically no longer a minor when I had my first creepy interaction but it didn’t make it any easier to deal with.

One time I was walking in a normal route I usually walk to get home. I was wearing a new dress, the hem around my knees. I felt so happy just coming back from an aquarium. I love going to places where there's animals and nature. A man in a car began to talk to me. I realized he wasn't asking directions, he was trying to flirt with me. I walked away because that's my usual technique. He drove ahead and I began to round the corner of the street I usually walk. Suddenly he was outside of his car, approaching me. I couldn't believe a man was doing this. I ran away. Luckily he didn't chase me. I can't understand why can't I just walk home without being bothered.

And this is the way it has been since forever. It is nothing new. My brother warned me 50 years ago, "Men do not have an "off switch" built in them". That it was only societal pressures and fear of the law that keep men from running totally amuck, but that they will still push and push boundaries anyway. I knew this to be true because it was actually a common thing that women would wear a fake wedding ring to keep men from harassing them. But even then, some guys would be like 'wink-wink, your man ain't gotta know'.

I've had men say they don't believe I'm married and get angry because they think I'm lying to make them leave. All the while, not realizing that even if I WAS lying, shouldn't me lying to get you to leave mean I'm NOT INTERESTED? You would think, but no. They still think they can convince me to date them. Other times, they acknowledge that I'm married, BUT CHOOSE TO KEEP PESTERING ME. They claim to be better than my husband. They say they can "steal" me from him. I said no. I'm happily married. I'm not interested in someone older than my father. Working in retail is a minefield for women.

When I tell you I was APPALLED at the number of comments just dragging that 4- or 5-year-old little girl. So many people were saying things about how she didn't deserve him anyway, he was too good for her, she'd regret it when she was older, she'd grow up to be a bitch, she was already a bitch, the list goes on. All this vitriol aimed at a SMALL CHILD who didn't even do ANYTHING wrong. It made me feel physically ill. If the roles had been reversed, I guarantee you the little boy wouldn't have been attacked so savagely.

They wonder why women have a hard time communicating sometimes but if we are clear and blunt it can put us in danger. ‘Fawn’ is probably an insanely underestimated response in women for survival. I will choose that initially if I feel uncomfortable and to de-escalate but if I’m then harassed or disrespected I will get loud real quick and violent if necessary. A friend says she purposely doesn’t move out of the way of men in the street because they are so used to everyone clearing a path for them but I personally think that isn’t a wise move as you never know who you’re annoying and generally as a courtesy both people adjust their course naturally anyway. I’ll choose the bear but I won’t poke it lol. One man I went on a few dates with then told him I wasn’t feeling enough of a connection stalked me and threatened suicide, it took a year and threatening to call the police for him to leave me alone. I’ve been rejected a few times myself, yes it hurts and I was upset but I just left and got over it after a while. You can’t *convince* anyone to be with you when they already don’t.

I remember I was 19 and needed to get gas, but the only one opened was one I normally do not go to due to how many men usually hang out there at night. This particular night it was a lot, but I needed gas. I pulled in and immediately some guys were catcalling me. The gentleman on the other side told his son to get out the car and stand next to me ask if we were together. He told me if I was okay and if it was okay his son stayed close by while I pumped my gas. I was so appreciative of both of them. They both waited and didn't drive off until I did. There are so many more instances of men that were not so nice that I had to encounter since my teens. Men have no idea how scary they can be and how scarier men have become over the years. Woman/girls are being raped on trains, buses, daylight, night time, killed on first dates, killed for rejection, etc. Yet, you have men who still get mad us for picking bears over them. It worries me on if these men are really not watching the news or just don't care when something horrific is happening to females.

All that talk of ‘listen’ and he didn’t hear her ‘no’? I’m also not a fan of a guy hitting on a girl while she’s on the clock at work. Anyone’s that’s worked in corporate or retail knows that employees are instructed to be polite and to ‘temper’ their attitudes towards customers or clients, even when they’re rude/pushy/negative. It feels like a desperate, low level power move to approach her under those circumstances. She can’t physically leave without risking disciplinary action from her manager, she ‘has’ to still be cordial which he’ll constitute as ‘flirty/playing hard to get’, and if it still goes south for her he can weaponize the interaction to ruin her work experience. And that’s not even focusing on the fact that even if he decides to ‘back off’, she now knows there’s an aggressive/pushy man who knows where she works.
