For real though. I bought a 81 kz750 with a ruined swing-arm and a cracked steering neck bearing and the guy never once said anything about it. The chump just wanted his cash and hid all the problems from me. I got in contact with a former mechanic that worked on the bike and he told me he had told the guy about all of those problems and he just decided to sell it. He could have literally killed someone and made money from it. Pretty terrible.

That's what I love about the customer's rights in the EU - every dealership needs to give you a one year guarantee on a used motorcycle that you buy from them. So obviously the chance you're gonna get fucked over is significantly smaller.

Rodney Saunders Sometimes, yes. You have to be much more creative to make things like this work and there’s a real sense of pride. I can walk into any dealer now, purchase a bike without any real thought of the cost. That takes a lot out of it. Now I’m not complaining one bit, I’ve worked very hard to be where I’m currently at. But things were much simpler back when I had limited means if that makes sense.

Sarah Dell I really hate when people say shit like this. I guarantee you there are lots of people reading this comment who can’t afford to even get a 500 dollar craigslist bike or make their rent payment this month or a million other issues that come with lack of means. Making being broke out to be some charming simple thing and being able to walk in anywhere and buy anything is so terrible and complicated is rather insulting to those people in my opinion. If you miss being young and carefree then that is understandable but I guarantee you if you suddenly found yourself lacking said means tomorrow you wouldn’t be too happy about it. It also often has very little to do with working hard or being lazy. Plenty of very hard working people fell on pretty rough times and it’s 100% no fault of their own and an equal number of people who just got lucky and ended up with lots of money. You can still drive 10 hours if you want to save 200 bucks. Meanwhile when this kids car brakes down next month and it’s 500 bucks to fix he’s likely not going to have money for it.

Always always always drain bowls on a bike that’s been setting a bit. Most times you’ll actually see the water or moisture in the container when you drain carb bowl or bowls. Learned a long time ago it’s worth the few minutes to get the moisture or condensation out and fresh gas in. Nice 1,100 profit !

FYI Sean and Co. Being a mechanic, engines HATE not being allowed to come up in temp. Not just carburetor fed engines. Any engine. Do the engines a favor, and let them run for at least 15-20 minutes. Cold starting an engine and not allowing it to warm up the oil will damage internals over time. In the short term, you'll foul the plugs and allow the ethanol that's already in the carburetor/s to continue to accumulate moisture and cause oxidation inside of them. On the fuel. Always....warm up the bike, then shut the fuel petcock off and let the engine run until the carb/s run dry. Treat the fuel in your big fuel drum with fuel storage stabilizer as soon as you fill it, and keep a record of when you fill and treat that fuel. Trust me....it will save you a lot of time and trouble if you follow these simple guidelines and you won't have to go through the mad dash right before the sale. Just hit the key and the bikes will fire off as though you just rode them the day before. God Bless! Zip~
