Happy for the hei players, sad about the story and the lies harada said and used like, im not gonna bring him back out of respect for the old voice actors and now he is paid dlc, not even a free update character out of the love for the character and the story of tekken 7 just feels useless, i thought this was supposed to be the end of the mishima saga....guess its not over

Pretty sure Heihachi doesn't survive the encounter in T7. Judging by the trailer, Reina tries to "resurrect" Heihachi via some ritual (hence King of Iron Resurrection). Heihachi also appears younger than his T7 counterpart indicating he has revived but more youthful (much blacker hair than his greys). Seems he was actually brought back to life!

Couple of things to add to the mix, Heihachi died in T7 but is resurrected, when you see him walking out it’s easy to assume that it’s the volcano it’s not… and if you look at the trailer again you see a bag tied, Jin and Kaz lose their powers, a dark purple smoke leaving the bag as it’s now untied and ogre standing there just before Heihachi is seen walking out in the reveal. I think ogre is who we may get for our 4th as it matches the orange colour used for the final slot and also they seem to be bringing a lot of old stuff back, we’ve had Azereal briefly now I can see ogre being the problem… lastly just to throw a random theory in there, what if all the mishimas banded together temporarily to try and defeat ogre as he’s a bigger threat would make the story a bit different at least.

T7-T8, although not great and filled with retcons, finally put an end to the Grandson vs Son vs Dad Mishima dynamic, with Kaz seemingly interacting with Jun at the end - and she was always implied to be a salve for Devil implying potential development of character we haven't seen since T4. Its really cool to have him back as a playable character but him returning to the narrative is a bad, stagnating play that reduces the stakes of any future conflict (theyve pulled this stunt a few times but never adamantly stated the character is gone forever before, meaning any future claims like this dont have weight) and lessens the impacy of character conflict imho. Super happy to see him added to the roster, I wanted to pick him up in T7 but it seemed like he wasnt coming back. Equally as dubious about his return to the story though. Edit: Also theyre likely continuing with hid T8 retcon of secretly being a good guy despite him seeking world domination and eternal life through the merging of his DNA with devil and ogre DNA, which was a major source of the family conflict since T3. Worst retcon ever imho.

@@ArcAngelus6 Nah but thats the weird thing. Hei's retcons means he's all about fighting the Devil Gene. Neither Kaz nor Jin have it. Jin's whole deal was revenge for his mother and hating the Devil Gene and by extention Kazuya. He has come to terms with her passing (he never saw Jun at the end) and has purged the Devil Gene. Kaz's whole thing was revenge against Hei by any means, resulting in devil possession, resulting in a lust for power and seeking Jin out to take his powers. Reina seemingly wanted revenge for Heihachi (or at least respected him) yet is now his sole, reasonable target. The only reason for the Mishima's to keep fighting each other is petty revenge unless they speedrun character development and have all 3 classic mishimas tag team Reina - which would be silly after like 3 decades of infighting to be resolved in a single free DLC story expansion. Jin is going full Kazama power isn't everything again, even sparing Kazuya. Kazuya is no longer host to Devio and implied to be in contact with Jun again. Hei's bloodline is (almost) free of Devil and the source is dead. Reina is the outlier but doesn't have a strong enough connection to anyone to carry the conflict. Its such a weird position, narratively. They should've took the opportunity to expand on other characters tbh. Have Gei back as a legacy roster member but not story relevant beyond flashbacks and stuff.

I don't see any story left to tell with him that warrants his return. Other then the novelty of him interacting with Reina.

T1-T3 Kazuya; I was abused by my father who taught me "power is everything" but thought I didn't have enough to be his heir so threw me off a cliff. In a near death experience, I accepted Devil into me for the power needed to get my revenge. Got involved with a girl that suppresses devil after getting my revenge. Life is good. Dad came back and I'm dead now. T4-5 Kaz: I am back, rebuilt from scraps. I have spent my time in hiding gaining dominion over Devil but must seek out my son to make myself whole by merging the inherited devil gene within him back with devil to complete the process. T6 Kaz: Devil isn't a thing. Azazel gifts the gene. T7: I was always afflicted with the devil gene and am evil because I am, and because I am evil I want to fight my son and dad because they fight me and I must win to prove I'm better. T3-5 Jin: My dad was cursed and passed down the genes of devil onto me. My mother's family can suppress it. I am a being inheriting two opposing forces that I cannot control on my own. After my mother went missing I went to my grandad who taught me "power is everything" and helping me seek revenge before doming me for having devil DNA, making it take over. Between his and dads hunting of me fur power, I choose to hate this DNA and myself, attempting to live up to my mothers image. T6 Jin: Being evil makes me less evil eventually because my devil gene isn't hereditary DNA, its a curse/gift bestowed by Azazel who will be baited by the evil, thus I will become less evil by commiting all the evil as bait. T7: (Not hugely different its just that Heihachi would have been trying to hunt him down rather than experiment on him post T3). In T7+ retcons, Kaz has zero reason to ever seek out Jin so him and Kaz have no beef. Heihachi is the core aggressor but seemingly forgot Jin was Kaz's son long enough to teach him his martial arts for years before betraying him after remembering about the Devil Gene. It makes no damn sense lmao.

Oddly enough I don’t think the leaks were wrong either, I think Heihachi was going to be announced at a later time and they decided to speed up the process because of hype(Heihachi obviously brings more hype then Marduk or Fahkumram) or maybe the possibility of Marduk/Fahkumram being unfinished…I mean personally the thought of Marduk’s tackle while in Heat + Rage is scary, along with the chance that they’ll probably give one of his options out of tackle the ability to delete gray health :(

The leaks aren’t fake. The datamines pulled their fighting styles and countries, so it seemed likely they would show up. I’m personally really glad with Heihachi as a choice but I do believe Marduk and Fakuhmrahm will happen, whether they’re in the fourth slot or part of season 2.

I think they changed course on DLC after it leaked. Michael Murray said they recently decided to put Heihachi in and he also tweeted to not believe everything you see on the internet wayyy back when the leaks came out. Eddy and Lidia weren’t able to be changed since the game was almost out in Eddy’s case, and summer was too soon after release to replace Lidia. So I’m assuming that around January they started working on Heihachi.

Before the Leaks I said to all my Tekken Friends that Hei would be the Season One DLC Cash Cow. I like the theory that they change tack .... but I think that after the Vanila Roster leak was true ..... they planted the clues from the start as I don't think Hei was just pushed up the List .....They already had his Resurection Storymode extension DLC planned in 2022/23

I'm pretty sure, people who understand tekken, knows that HEIHACHI is TEKKEN, and knew that it was inevitable, they just can't throw him away or replace him with some other character. I would say people who just accepted that Heihachi won't come, at the words of game devs, are very gullible. Even if he was not revived, he still would have made a comeback. It was only a matter of time, but Tekken team sure delivered unexpectedly early, and just can't wait for him!!

TLDR: I’m kinda conflicted on this whole reveal due to the leaks, the character choice, and the DLC lineup. I’m happy that the leaks were wrong. I don’t understand what people get from ruining the surprises like that. Leaking characters right before big events doesn’t nothing except potentially ruin the surprise and hype for everyone. It makes it even worse when leaked way before the trailer because now the waiting is worse once the leak gets confirmed. I’m mixed on Heihachi’s return. Did I want him to return? No, but it makes sense that he would survive since the Mishimas are just built like that. However, I feel like Heihachi’s return is too soon especially since Reina is also here. You’d think it’d take a while before Heihachi comes back.

Characters like Roger, Alex, Ogre, Bruce 😑. Nothing new. And balance? Dragunov is insane and they think this is fine! Old modes like Team Battle? 00...and more. Tk8 is poor.

@@Ssjgeekthere comes a breaking point where there are too many characters. For developers there's only so much creativity in moves and design they can work with. The franchise started with almost half the current roster so of course they could pump out new characters and kill off old ones. The FGC, sales, technological improvement and story progression is impossible to synchronise with that same method.

I'm so happy for him coming back, but I feel likes it sucks so much, cuz like the whole thing with Tekken 7 was the final showdown between him and Kazuya. The fight was so epic and the consequences so big, that making him come back just destroys the whole plot of tekken 7 and I think it's bad story telling. It's like when you played with your legos or some shit when u were a kid and every character came back from the death everytime. It feels like you're going no where, like nothing was evolving.

Heihachi coming back cheapens the story too early too quick and cheapens development for Reina, Kuma, and Lars. They should’ve played the long game and waited to make him Season 3. Maybe Season 2 if they are clutching their pearls. Definitely agree they moved Heihachi up on the schedule.

TLDR: I’m kinda conflicted on this whole reveal due to the leaks, the character choice, and the DLC lineup. I’m happy that the leaks were wrong. I don’t understand what people get from ruining the surprises like that. Leaking characters right before big events doesn’t nothing except potentially ruin the surprise and hype for everyone. It makes it even worse when leaked way before the trailer because now the waiting is worse once the leak gets confirmed. I’m mixed on Heihachi’s return. Did I want him to return? No, but it makes sense that he would survive since the Mishimas are just built like that. However, I feel like Heihachi’s return is too soon especially since Reina is also here. It’s kinda similar to how I feel about Bison in SF6. I would’ve assumed it’d take a while before Heihachi comes back.

Who is going to be 4th DLC? If they are going with the story relations. Lei Wulong and Kunimitsu are number one and number two. Wild Card is Bruce Irvin as the G-Corp Army Commander. This is hes Tekken 6 story and we did not see him Tekken 7. In the trailer we see huge G-Corp army scene with explosions. They do need a Commander right? Nina did defect in the end right? Hmm...?? Big Super UFO card is Devil Reina, meaning Jin and Reina would have double slots now.

I'm a Heihachi main, but i gotta say that Harda and Murry only did this because of the leak characters ppl saw and lost rates already when Eddy and Lidia were true. If they were to put out Marduk and Fahkumram in the next DLC's. They would lose even more rates and money for predictions the audience and new consumers are already expecting that would be pretty basic for the community. I felt like in order to save themselves. They pulled this card out of their asses to save the games integrity 🙄 😒 🎮

I had the same idea that they just pushed grandaddy to stop the backlash for the leaks. Although logically this doesn't actually make any sense. There is no way they have just added him into the story DLC that they're going to add. So clearly he was going to be here before the story DLC dropped. Which would indicate that he was always planned for season one.

I don't know dude, if I wanted Heihachi back, it would be in a memory sequence like Jun. Fake deaths are overdone across alot of media, it takes away from impactful story telling and making a long lasting impression that something is absolute. His absence was felt and it was pretty strong. I would've like to have seen the story grow, not regress into a parody (although I know fake deaths are all over this series, but I was really hoping they'd be serious this time, it wouldve made for a great story). Anyways, I'm not entirely bummed out, I am kinda glad he's back. The story of Tekken 7 and 8 are just damn near irrelevant now. The change in the dynamic could be cool though for the family feud. Jin and Kazuya are cleansed at least (please for the love of God, if anything, DON'T CHANGE THAT), and Heihachi could be on the hunt for Reina now that she has achieved his goal.

Realistically speaking, I think they just planned Heihachi from the start. The leaks themselves were credible yes, but they weren't definitive. They were just files in the code. So many things planned for games often get implemented in rudimentary ways early in development, and end up altered or outright removed later. But because building a game is similar to making a "web" it's much harder to remove all remnants of previous versions. In a lot of ways, it's in the companies interest for hype, to leave some of it in there, cause they know fans will pick through it anyway. I think the biggest problem when it comes to gamer speculation, is that they forget that gaming is a business first and an extremely expensive and risky one at that. It would be extremely disorganized and unproductive to put so much work into planning a products route months-years and advanced, just to shift gears because someone saw a random data log, with zero context.

I think it's clear that they weren't really lying, Heihachi is/was dead. He clearly has dark hair again, so my best guess is either he is resurrected in some arcane rite or alternatively this new Heihachi is a clone. I'm actually leaning towards the more mundane "clone" idea right now with the magical/arcane element all being smoke and mirrors subterfuge. If a clone was made of Heihachi after the events of Tekken 1, that clone would be in their 50s now. Hell, maybe all the Tekken Monks are Heihachi clones. This one may simply be the first who has now gone crazy (hence the voice over talking of "mind, body & technique") and think that they are the real Heihachi

Guilty Gear Strive gives us cool guest characters, Tekken8 gives us Eddy and Lidia as DLC, they belong in the basic grid! Heihachi should be one of them. We don't have Team Tag Mode, Guilty Gear Strive gives us Team Tag Mode (howling "It's such a mess" doesn't count!)
