I'm not a big fan of pills, if you haven't already guessed that. So, just reaching for Midol when I get cramps isn't the solution for me. Here's what I do to naturally ease my menstrual cramps.
Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe, and for even more menstrual magic come find me on my website or social media:

Ginger. Ginger tea. Ginger beer. Even candied ginger. Wonderful for cramps and nausea that sometimes accompanies first day stuff.

I grate ginger into my tummy tea to help with cramps. On the third day, I will drink hot water with a squeeze of lemon juice to shorten the length of my length of my cycle and lessen the flow.

This video is probably my favorite that you've done so far. So great with the yoga poses and the bloopers:) just getting to hear and see the "behind the scenes" process of making a video makes a video so much more personable.

I had an iron deficiency for years. As soon as I found out I took iron pills and after month my cramps just disappeared. Now I never have cramps anymore. And my guess is that there are so many girls out there who have the same problem and don't even know, since my gynecologist never told me about this connection.

Hey Victoria! Ahhhh I'm just in love with your videos! For me, I noticed that as soon as I went vegan (and off the Pill around the same time) my cramps just disappeared. Sometimes I'll have just that "feeling" like you're really full with a tiny teeny bit of pain, but other than that my period is a breeze and I love it! I'm always so excited about getting my period and I wanted to thank you for sharing that excitement too! I know no one else who does unfortunately...

I'm vegan too and if I have cramps, I have cacao powder (in a banana smoothie/warm plant milk/oats) and it is very helpful! Heating pad, water, warm bath and breathing techniques also definitely work too!

Awesome video! Oh man. My cramps were so bad before I got my iud that i woud have to miss work. Advil wouldn't even work for them. But now I'm golden! I also still get ovulation cramps and that is VERY painful. It feels like someone is knifing my side for 1-2 days. I still get cramps but they're nowhere as bad. I usually like a heating pad and and advil and it's okay. Understanding the menstrual cycle is very important but that doesn't make them hurt any less

Thank you for this information! I recently quit hormonal birth control also and I already feel better, so this information is super helpful. But PLEASE talk about what you use for makeup/skincare/toothpaste/deoderant/etc. I am looking to switch to all natural products and would love to know what you recommend. Your makeup is subtle but SO pretty!

Before and during my time using the pill, periods were nothing. I never really had issues with cramping. But now on the Paragard they HURT. So this was really helpful because sometimes they're debilitating and I still have to be at work and function.

You mentioned using a menstural cup as well as cramping around ovulation. Are you able to use a menstural cup during ovulation as well as your period? I find that ovulating can cause excessive amounts of discharge. I'd also like to say I just found your channel and I love it! I love how you talk about so many things most women just ignore.

You definitely should not be putting anything inside of you for discharge. Only when you're on your period.

First off I love your channel! I need some advice. my cramps for all of my life and into my adult life have been almost unbearable. I started taking birth control in order to control the insane mood swings that I was going through. I quickly got off when I realized my mood swings were getting worse. I go through this for the both the first week before my period and a bit after. is there anything that you would would recommend ie food natural items to help with mood swings / cramping? thanks again

i brew anise (stars or seeds) or cinnamon or marjoram leaves (i don't like the taste of marjoram but it is the fastest relief to me especially in winter ) with cinnamon it clears out any bloating but don't drink too much of it the recommended dosage is 5-6 grams powder cinnamon i think ? but if i have bloating to me a small cup would do the trick and if i have cramps still i would go for anise i use anise also when i have insomnia since There are chemicals in anise that have estrogen-like effects and also sedating so anise is the only thing for me whenever i am sick or feeling unwell . i hope it would help !

+Elizabeth Smith I really enjoy going to yoga classes. I started in college because this lady would come twice a week and teach a yoga class in the morning and it was free. After graduation I started going to a yoga studio, but that got too expensive. Now, I have a membership at my local YMCA which I've really been loving because I can go do yoga, lift weights, do the stairmaster and they have a sauna!
