Lillie, I think it was wise of you to have someone of Melissa’s age represented here. As I often read in the comments “women” who feel they can not eat this way or do this because they are peri menopause or menopause( which gets on my nerves a bit 😝 ) Have a great rest of your week!

Now having seen ALL of the video, I must add to my previous comment. You two are such beautiful examples of health and energy that shines from you both. Your discussion thrills this 72YO woman who committed to the best health I can manifest back in my twenties. I was addicted to cardio from my high school years of exposure to running, then tennis and running through my 50s. My hips decided running was no longer viable so walking and weight training have been my mainstays into my 70s. I have more energy than most 30 year olds. My clarity astounds me. I don't make New Year's resolutions, but I do tweak my top five priorities at the beginning of each year. #1 is always my health. Sharing from my list of priorities that I read first thing each morning before I meditate. "Overall health includes nutrition, sleep, movement, stress reduction, good posture (shoulders down and back), dr's appts as needed." Thank you both for your efforts to help women and people become healthy. I wish it for all of my friends and family, but sadly most think it's hard or impossible. Thank you for being a role model for so many!!! I'm beaming from ear to ear having listened to you both!

Abstainer myself as well. OMG how much I can relate to it. If I had a gram of sugar, - I was ending up eating enormous amount of sugar, like 20 thousand calories from sugar daily. For years. I went through very harsh food (sugar) addiction. After long time keto I'm over it, but I can totally relate.

Another great interview Lily! I would really like to see the studies that show that high-protein means short life! I think that must be based on people eating the standard American diet. Ben Bikman has shown that if you are insulin sensitive, then protein does not stimulate mTOR excessively.

Check out Dr Gabrielle Lyon! She and her daily chat buddy recently covered this. The protein study is based on mice fed ad libitum. It's far easier on the researchers to just make sure the food is always there than to measure portions appropriately for content. The mice (who all got fat from bored-eating) that had the highest protein diet with no fasting-breaks had organ failure. No human studies have verified these findings. No discreet meal studies have been tried. Dr Lyon says the study is weak evidence, and longevity with health is tied primarily to muscle health, which requires a treating the RDA for protein as a bare minimum. This makes sense because the RDA, meanwhile, is based on the point where rat health improvements seemed to plateau (1g per pound). It seems to still be an ok guide for most humans, but if you want more, you probably need more.

I love this video and I agree man made grain breads and noodles and grasses such as rice and wheat can do something to my insides I don't like and I have been off all dairy for about 25 years now and eat it only during special times which it does still effect me , but not as bad as before because I don't eat it long term. I do eat animal protein and veggies normally but fruit has not been pared down too much. I still eat them for breakfast or a snack once in a while. I do eat potatoes and Yams and sweet potatoes though. My blood work has been very good for a long time. And I am 66 and no medication or health issues. I need to do weight exercises more now but I walk a lot all day due to my job plus I use a mini Tramp as well. My bootie is still ok but I agree it could use a bit of a lift, and my pooch in front is still an issue to me. I have been told I worry too much. Keep up the videos. They are an inspiration. Have a good weekend, Ellie

I am interested in high protein and shortened life, I don't think there is concrete evidence that this will happen out there even though there are many people who think it is an issue. One aspect to keep an eye on and hopefully we learn more as we go. Many people just cannot fathom not snacking at all. Snacking is probably equally an issue with the process main meals people eat. Amazing how you do not need to snack when eating right.

@@wesleygaitan That doesn't tell if it will shorten life though.

@@seanveach950 it doesn't but the point is protein is not that important and 99 percent of people get enough, if you wanna gain muscle it's better to keep protein lower and favor in fats or carbs. You'll have more energy and better digestion. Becareful with keto and carnivore diets they are most likely fad diets. Your body needs carbs for optimal performance and muscle growth.

This may be a stupid question but how do you get 50% of your diet as fat? How do you fit that much tallow and butter in? I thought of making tallow balls because I'm having a hard time getting the fat in. Only so much stays in the meat when you cook it or the eggs only hold onto so much butter. I hope my question makes sense because I'm really trying to get more fat in!

@TheFizziologieNetwork
@TheFizziologieNetwork Жыл бұрын
50% of a diet coming from fat is actually very low for a low carb protocol and requires that you eat leaner cuts of meat or fish often. Red meat and dark poultry have 65% - 75% of calories coming from fat. And this doesn’t include cooking with any fat! To get down to 50% fat she is probably having a fat free protein source like whey protein. As long as you eat enough whole food protein you are getting AT LEAST 50% of your calories from fat when you keep your carbs around 50g or less.

Important point Melissa made was about lifestyle, there is a point where you become so restrictive that you have no life. It is a constant problem (for me) I have to maintain a little bit of freedom or I end up super isolated and depressed from my environment. So I will eat a little fruit once and a while or non pasture raised beef or even drink one alcoholic spritzer if I am out with a group of people. Also we need to remember that the flora will adapt to whatever we eat, so for diversity we need to challenge it occasionally. No bread and grains, but fruit, veggies and even some white rice once and awhile.
