Try to mix a little mustard and fresh parsley in your Hamburger Steaks. In Germany we call it Frikadelle. We normally eat it with all kind of potatoes (fried, mashed, cooked in salt) and I love fried peas and carrots to it.

I love mapo tofu! One of my favourite dishes~ thank you for always sharing recipes with all of us. It is helpful especially since I sometimes struggle with what to make for dinner ^^;; The smashed cucumber salad looks especially refreshing so I am sure it will be perfect for the hot days ~ It's so hot here, and I hope you and your family are staying cool~~ Thank you as always for everything ^^

Funny thing - as you started fixing the donburi, I was thinking 'I wish she'd make a rice bowl.' I didn't know donburi was rice bowl. Also, we love your hamburger patty with tomato sauce. I fix it often. This week I'm going to make mapo tofu which is new to us. I love your videos.

I've decided to make the hamburgers in tomato sauce sometime next week~ I remember you put it in an earlier video and I've wanted to try it since then.

Oh, its so diferent from the mapo tofu we make in China, we mainly use chili bean sauce (the taste is quite similar to korean chili paste but contains more oil and umami), soy sauce and dark soy sauce to season. Its my first time to see putting miso in it, but it looks nice and delicious. Let me try next time ~

Hi, thank you for your comment! It's difficult to find doubanjiang here, so I use korean chili paste instead 😊 Miso gives good flavour, hope you like it!

Thank you so much for another video! I will make the mapo tofu this week as well since I have all the ingredients :D I am vegetarian so will change the meat to TVP which has similar texture.
@whatsfordinner_japanese7 ай бұрын
Oooh that's good! I haven't tried TVP with this but I'm sure it will go perfectly fine! Thanks for watching 🥰
@petitmuguet6 ай бұрын
@@whatsfordinner_japanese I tried it tonight, so delicious! The TVP was fine but maybe absorbed the sauce a bit too much so next time I will rehydrate it separately then add at the end :) Thank you for another great recipe!

I cannot find daikon radish in my area here in South Carolina. What can I use as an alternative? I’m not crazy about small red radishes that we have here in abundance

hmm good question 🤔. If it's just for soup, I think turnip could work well too. Thanks for watching!

Do you have to use ground pork for the mapo tofu? Or can I use ground beef or ground turkey? I don't eat pork and I really want to try this dish. ❤
@whatsfordinner_japanese7 ай бұрын
Ground beef has stronger flavour but I think it works 😊. If I don't have pork I would use ground chicken but turkey is also good. Thanks for your comment 😁
