Refreshing video, as electronic design engineer I can relate a little. I needed some of that advice 😊

Great video man, thank you for taking the time and effort to make this. The game that you're making looks really cool too. I'm still in the same situation that you've described in the beginning of the video. Didn't set out to make a game this year, bought a PlayDate (on a complete whim) and ever since it arrived,l I've been so motivated to start creating a game again. Unfortunately, I haven't even taken the time to draft up an idea, I've just played around with the SDK a bit. Seeing your game come to fruition is very motivating. Today, I finally started with working out an idea, so thank you man.

This was great! As someone who is on the fence about making a Pulp game, I appreciate this video very much ❤

Hey! Thanks for letting me know. I'm curious-what are you on the fence about regarding making a game in pulp?
@CortesArtsАй бұрын
@@weak_tyhonestly I think it feels limiting? For one it seems like a lot of course as you said, but it feels like there are so many small RPGs like the one I’d make with it. I wish they’d allow some sort of additional functionality to add to make the games feel a little more unique, but maybe that’s just because I’m unfamiliar with all it can do

@@CortesArts That makes sense!

This is all very relatable as I’m on this journey too. I’m about 5 months or so into my half hour pulp game. I think I probably will take another 3 or so, but I value breaks as you mention. I really enjoyed your game btw - I feel like the pulp games are some of the most enjoyable on the platform.

Thanks for trying out my game. I wish you best of luck on your journey. You can do it!

Taking a break is so important. Do not underestimate the power of a good nap. There's always gonna be moments in programming when you encounter a bug or complex code problem that you just can't seem to fix, overcome, or understand. You'll get so frustrated by it that you'll just end up burning yourself out and losing motivation. To prevent that, just sleep it off. You'd be surprised about how many new coding solutions you can think of now that you're not sleep deprived!

A friend sent me this video because he knows I have a Playdate and because he's been involved in my 2.5 year journey developing a mobile app myself. I can tell why, since so much of what you share here resonates. I appreciate your honesty and thoughtful reflection upon your experience.

Thanks for sharing! Unfortunately you have not mentioned about results - how many downloads, income, feedback. Would be interested. Also on that path, but with Lua.
