I have been journaling for almost 40 years (I shocked myself when I realised this), and I often surprise my family by remembering events so well. It's because they've been documented. Of course I've also had long rants in my journal, letters that I'd never send, pouring out of emotions I could not express any other way, working through what life would throw at me. I think better on paper. With so many different ways of journaling, I don't think I'll ever not journal.

Totally related when you said that “when you read an old entry, you remember exactly how you felt in that moment”. I’ve been looking back at my journal entries from throughout the 2020 chaos, and it’s such a rollercoaster of emotions looking back at each page.

I don't write a lot, but in the beginning of my 20's I wasn't feeling well and started to write my thoughts and this is EXACTLY what made me see just how much I was lying to myself internally. As soon as the thoughts hit the paper, I was able to SEE the lies. Incredible! Loved myself ever since.

Being unfiltered is so so important and something I had to learn to accept. I used to rip off Pages because I thought that my thoughts werent perfect enough if that makes sense. Now I write without feeling ashamed of my thoughts and write whenever I am in the mood. Even if its one sentence or a whole novel. U are right. Writing doesnt have a Limit. Our mind has no Limit. Its important to just be present and write

I have always thought that I needed some sort of a "topic" to journal but I guess not. "Write whatever is most relevant to you at the moment" may actually be the advice I've been looking for. I'll try it out. When I was like 11 or 12, I wrote my feelings for the first time on a paper. But the person I wrote about ended up reading it and I had to give up on it. It felt really bad. 7-8 years have passed since then and even now when I journal (a to-do list with some comments), I'm always worried about someone reading it so I write things in code words (Code words that I can't even recall after a week lol) or don't write my true feelings. And I now realize I need to be unfiltered to make journaling more effective. I'm really grateful for this I've been watching a few of your videos and your content is great. Your quality work has got you another subscriber. Thanks for everything

I am in my forties now and I have been journaling for most of my life, and I completely agree with everything you said. I still have most of my journals, or at least stretching back for the last 23 years. It really is amazing how we can read about an event and relive the moment. If nothing else, my journals remind me why certain things are a bad idea, and they show me how much I have grown as a person. After watching this video I subscribed to your channel. Your videos are awesome.

Journaling is so much more than just writing. It is therapy, clarity, ideas, documenting growth, memories, feelings and emotions and so much more. It is life written on paper, and walk down the memory lane for our older selves. Journaling is really the best thing ever!
@Bangtans_ArmyyyUwU8 ай бұрын
I totally need this right now! You see, I haven't been journaling that much. Every day of my life feels unique and important, which I wanted to document it. Though I have already tried journaling before, my journaling journey didn't even last for a week, lmao I hate that I wasn't consistent. And I just realized that I've been making journaling a chore, and to be honest, it feels so tiring and boring, really, been forcing myself to do it and write for numerous pages of evedy single day. And I wanted to change that so bad...Because on the other side, I actually really wanted to document my experiences and write them all down to my journal so that I could look back and see the things I used to experience when I was this age. I actually didn't know I'll be needing this video today. I was just mindlessly scrolling through your yt page while trying to find a video that I haven't watched yet. Thanks again, Riza! I love all of your videos, it makes me calm and inspired. And uou always makes my day brighter! Anyways, luv youuu💗💗✨️

Hey thank you so much for these tips on journaling! I always had a problem with point 2 and couldn't fully write down what exactly i was feeling at that time. I was so scared that someone would read my journal and i often times tore what I wrote. It makes so much sense to be truthful and let it all out while journaling. I had the inspiration to start journaling again today and I'm glad to have come across your video , thank you :)

Hooooo wow Its 2:36 am and i have been on a small smattering of video watching. I cant get over the feeling of inspiration of wanting to do something like what you are doing with recording your life, mostly because ive spent the past several escaping from it. While i don't have access to the medium i want to begin, I'll at least have a reminder to begin soon, and i really hope this changes things for me. I'm all over the place with the thoughts your sharing and what I've got, but thanks for this. I hope to create summaries of each of my years as a long-term goal, and i think it's only be appropriate to say it finally started because of you.

Last year, I got a traveler's style, notbook. I didn't start to journal much until my world collapsed in May, life changing events all at once. This year, I try to fill out a page a day as it helps me remember the more mundane parts instead of just the distressing bits. Last year, I used it as I needed it, and it's very angry and panicky. I didn't know how to handle it. I mostly write in the mornings while sitting with my dog outside. If nothing is going on, I talk about chores I need to get done or plans for dinner. It helps me in the short term as if I promised to get it done, so it's more likely to get done.. Or I complain about the weather.

Hello Riza! I have recently found your channel and I am amazed by your wisdom AND your aesthetics! Always being a fan of lifestyle improvement and "slice of life" channels I kind of gathered throughout the years to take pieces of inspiration from, your channel hit home in a very - let's say - compendious form. Your thoughts, your words, your sense of aesthetic and nostalgia, the essence of a story you deliver so beautifully in a cinematographic way leaves this tingling sensation inside of me as to go out and really breath that fresh air in! (Does that make sense? haha) I comment on this video specifically because journaling is also a great part of my life and I have also done it for years, at the beginning even daily. Watching your video reminded me of those times and the benefits it brought to organize my busy mind. Nowadays I am quite infrequent with it, writing only one or two times a month. At first I thought I have no time for it anymore but then I have realized that I am just to afraid to confront my reality. To write down how "numb" my life has become since working day in, day out and to see my words "darken" by this period of time although I have always been a quite lively person. I have journaled as you said in your video: no minimum and unfiltered. And although I never had a bad feeling after journaling it is sometimes even an obstacle just looking at it lying on my desk. What if I write something and get distracted before organizing my words and mind? Is it something I really want to read in the future? Maybe you have got a few tips how to write during those darker-monotonous times? I know - as with everything - it is just a period of time but I know that journaling could help me overcome it or even get out of it. I am just kind of stuck in a spiral. If you happen to read it thank you for your time. ♥ And for everyone who wants to start journaling I really recommend the book "The Bullet Journal Method" by Ryder Carroll. It helps to just get started and not think about being the next Virginia Woolf like Riza said. :)

Wow! stunned, its simply beautiful. Your storytelling that is. Liked and subscribed ❤ How beautiful it is that when you read an old entry, you remember exactly how you felt in that moment And that's the power of keeping a Journal. It was not a journal but I remember reading a statement of purpose I wrote to myself back in 2012. I found the piece of paper in my diary in 2020 I think. I was shocked! I could actually feel what I felt when I wrote that statement. I hadn't done anything that I had said I would do and although I am not in a bad position rn but I regret not following up or doing everything I could to make it happen. a little disappointed in myself. Self-note: Journaling → @LifeOfRiza 1. 0:46 Have no minimum 2. 2:23 Be unfiltered 3. 3:34 Write from the stream of consciousness (writing with a pen) Better mental clarity The vault: 'I think its really important for a writer to have a compost heap. Everything you read, things that you write, things that you listen to, people you encounter. They could all go in this compost heap and they will rot down and out of them grow beautiful stories.' -Neil Gaiman Imma start journaling. Wish me luck.
