Nice Doug. I’ve used everyone of those and they have worked well. Can’t wait to test mine out with my jib.

I have Viltrox DC-70 II, in mic floor stand. It was 'take a chance' purchase which seems to work well given the low price point.

Thanks for this Doug, was just looking for a few of these to give the camera guys the multiview.

Thanks for another interesting video. I've bought a Viltrox 7'' DC-70EX and I am pretty happy with it. The only downfall (but a big one) is that it does not support 3G SDI. I am not using it on cameras but for more technical work - monitoring SDI/HDMI signals or even as a console on servers :-)

Can the DC-70EX work as a HDMI to SDI converter as well?

Hi Doug, thanks for the great info. Do you find that the monitors induce any more latency into the hdmi chain? (for IMAG purposes)

I don’t pass the signals through the monitors... the signal chain is: camera -> Camera Converter -> Monitor. But the outputs don’t add any additional delay if you do need to use them.

The camera converters can output tally border on the monitor output right? Are you using that?
@djp_video5 жыл бұрын
They can when they’re set to display the camera view rather than the program view. I don’t normally use that, but if a particular camera operator tells me they don’t want to see the quad view that I normally use, I’ll reconfigure so they can see the tally box.

I think you should buy monitors that are able to generate tally.

The Blackmagic Design Camera Converters don't have a tally output, so if I had monitors with tally I couldn't use it anyway. Not to mention that the price for monitors with tally is many times higher than these.

I should also mention that the Camera Converter itself does generate a red tally box on the video whenever a camera is live, so it isn't like we don't have tally... it's just generated as part of the video signal before it gets to the monitor.

You could probably "hack" the converter to get a tally output from it if you really wanted to. Like making a small hole in the converter and then connecting a cable parallel to the built-in tally led

Certainly; I've done that sort of thing many, many times. It would involve voiding the warranty, though, and possibly damaging the circuitry. I'm pretty satisfied just having the red tally box on screen.
