Tell me, what if you spend all your time, money, and the best years of your life on this only to end up old and poor because of how good Ai got. What will you think of it then

@@venomtang There is nothing we can do brother. AI is going to effect every field , doctor , developer, writters, actors and so many. And also we can't predict what will happen in future, I am also worried but we gotta have to walk rather than staying and be depressed.

Thanks for your thoughts Harvey. I agree - and the more I see AI in all aspects ( i.e. text generation where it is way ahead of animation right now ) the less I'm worried about it. I really love the process of _making_ animation and animating more than the results and I don't think that will go away. Where I am a little worried is the impact on tastes of audiences and clients - they might be ok with 'lower' quality if its just cheap enough. We already see how the internet is filling up with AI generated works, be it text or images. They are not good, but they seem 'good enough' for many people, which is scary, both from a personal but also philosophical standpoint. I hope this doesn't take over. I'd really love to enjoy many more Spiderverses and Genies so to speak. Additionally, animating pays my rent and food - and while I'll always be happy animating by myself, my body needs food to do it.

Hey Chris, I think even people's tastes will change as at the moment is quite easy to pick something AI vs Man made, I think this will always be the case as the goal is to mass produce something quickly, but even if that changes and we get to that point where animation is high quality, people will gravitate always towards the handmade aspect of animation, I believe is just human. The people that think is good enough, is most likely because they don't have that artistic eye. The same people that go to a art gallery and don't see the beauty in a beautiful painting. Thanks for the great comment

Hey, thanks a lot for the video and your thoughts on the topic. As other people mentioned before, I was also scared of what might happen to art jobs when AI launched, but I was breaking into the industry at the same time. Since I see how everything looks from the inside (had my anniversary this week!), I am leaning much more into your view of it being a tool that might take off some boring stuff to do, but ultimately - it'll need human touch to work properly. I've been mostly testing AI prompters to generate fbx data, which seems like a bigger threat to low-cost mocaps as that's what you basically get - a somewhat clean looking mocap data, that you still need to retarget and refine over hours of work. I've basically came to accept that it's going to be a tool like mocap that we're going to build our final shots on and that's okay. Since mocap didn't kill the industry, Ai probably won't as well. Besides that, it's great that the leaders in the industry talk about it this way, because I can totally relate to all people starting animation (or still being in school), that are afraid that their skills will become obsolete even before they graduate, because people like you have a big influence on today's student. And I know that myself, because I changed from film-focused to game-focused animation mid-study after one of your videos ;) Keep up the good work and good luck with Proxima!

Hey Adam, nice to hear from you again and I remember you message quite a while back about you wanting to change. Super happy to know that it worked out for the best and that you're happy with your animation career. And thanks a million for the great comment, and I've been getting lots of comments lately about AI and the fact that is scary and what's the point of animation, hence why the video. Glad you enjoyed it and hope we get to meet at some point either socially or professionally. Make sure to keep in touch and let me know how you're doing in your animation journey.

Hey Harvey, this is Antoine. Hey, Great VID here, as usual, my dude. Um, yeah, I don't fight against "AI" anymore. At the time I was a (Hardcore) advocate against AI. And it's funny and unbelievable that I of all people have learned to accept this NEW Tech. 🤐And actually, I've been messing around with it for over the last month or so. And it's FUN. It's like a (NEW TOY). But once you realize what AI (can't do,) then there is no need to worry or fear this new technology. Here's a Quote: "One must know and understand thy enemy in order to "defeat" thy enemy". Quote: Antoine Cunningham In any event, Again, great VID here, and keep up the great work. Thanks.🙂

All of the AI video/animation right now is floaty, fever dream junk. But it will soon be coherent enough for the average layperson to make their own bespoke movies& films. and ALL of it will be devalued by virtue of it’s ubiquity. Narrative and Ideological messaging will rule the day Not the methods that produced the visuals to deliver them. Lets be honest the great dopamine addicted masses Never cared anything about “hand made artistry” blah blah. And to proceed along as though they do care is a fools gambit.
