As he has said before, and as he probably wanted to say here, it is evidence that backs up a premise, not another argument. But he does mention that he wants to back up a premise with science. On the question of Kalam, I just don't think he has done it, as no testing or observations have ever been done in creation ex nigilo, and therefore it has never been confirmed that such an event (if possible) is causal.
