Dunno why Caesar wastes one of his best leaders acting basically like a petty schoolgirl. He's a smart guy, even despite the brain tumor, and Joshua is a quite capable and well vetted leader with unquestioning conditional loyalty... and Sallow would've known what the composition and average state of Joshuas army was, allowing him to know that his failures were the fault of his low quality levies barely brought up to standard after a costly campaign. Caesar is a master of logistics, if his massive empire shows anything, and a master of battle. Provided Joshua didn't utterly obliterate his entire quantity of high quality forces as he did in the follow up of hoover dam I don't think Sallow would've limited his troop counts and showed blatant favoritism for Lanius, discounting their entire friendship and destroying Joshua's standing. Overall, it's a bad decision, and he's a great general and tactician as shown by his repeated victories despite low quality manpower.

For anyone wondering why Caesar was trying his best to get rid of Joshua, remember that even as the Malpais Legate, he was already a threat to his uncontested rule of the Legion. Caesar may be the brains, and it may be HIS Legion, but Joshua was the one putting in the work, fighting on the front with his legionaries and using his civilized upbringing to his advantage in warfare. Caesar was not a warrior, Joshua was. Caesar was merely putting on the front of the Son of Mars, he swears like a sailor if you tick him off enough, but Joshua is genuinely affable, stoic, calm, and measured. Joshua would inevitably become more popular than Caesar if he was left alive, and that simply would not do. Coupled with the fact that he's the only other person who knows that the Legion is built on a lie, a twisted, poisonous idea of the Old World's history, and the fact that he knows Caesar's less than impressive upbringing, well... Yeah, I'm more surprised Joshua lasted this long with hos many times Caesar tried to hold him under the bus. Also, I love how poetic the endings are, and even the events leading up to that. I get the idea that the legionaries left Joshua alone both out of fear for his power and respect for when he commanded them and their comrades in battle, so I can totally see him taking control of the Legion and reforming it to be the REAL civilization that Caesar was simply pretending it was. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Caesar's own idea works against him. The thesis is the brutality of the Malpais Legate, the antithesis is the Hanged Man, and the synthesis is what becomes of the Legion after he delivers his judgement on the dictator that used it to ravage the wasteland. Another thing, the mental image of the NCR stumbling upon a reformed Legion is hilarious. I'm just imagining every trooper grabbing their weapons only to reluctantly stand down after realizing that the legionaries are just spreading around gospels and helping settlers build around the area. Maybe their humiliating defeat in the Mojave finally taught their government a lesson and it found its way back to the original ideas the NCR was founded on. Maybe it finally stopped being an imperialist nation ripping itself apart by expanding too much. Hopefully.

Doesn't it feel contradictory to punish his most effective general for... Succeeding? If that was the case, the Courier would get a mouthful that he did a thing Caesar didn't want him to do even if it got the job done) Even if he is scared of Joshua's popularity. You can't just punish your general for succeeding based on casualties as an excuse alone, the entire Legion throws recruit legionaries into the fray because the military is based on martial prowess. This seems to undermine Caesar's whole character as a whole. Could you also explain why Caesar is still the Emperor when his intentions was to make the nation into a republic?

They'd probably gather all of their strength and return, likely beating the Legion this time given that they don't have a previous victory to justify mostly sending conscripts into the second battle like in canon. Caesar can't have his entire army in Vegas while the NCR are large enough to be able to send a good chunk of their military in without losing their grip on California.

Generally, The Hanged Man card represents a pause in one's journey to contemplate and reflect on things, to consider new paths and choices ahead while considering the choices you already made to get this far, especially your mistakes and regrets. It can also symbolize choosing to make a sacrifice in order to undo or amend your mistakes.

@RedFloyd4698 ай бұрын
The one key difference is that the conversion of constantine and the officialization of christianity as the imperial religion, wasn't done out of genuine concern for morality or his soul. It was simply a political manouver to solidify his position in a world where the christian cult had effectively become too popular to treat like any other religion within the cosmopolitan empire. Owing to the supranational, almost "universal" values of new testament christianity, the cosmopolitan unification of religion through imperial ritual (where our term religion comes from, namely "religio", an official ritual all religious people had to perform, involving animal sacrifice, which the christians fervently stood against due to their belief that Christ had been the last sacrifice.) could no longer be held high as the golden standard of political power over the religious masses. Another difference is that Joshua would likely use his newfound faith (whether justified or not) to preach peace, forgiveness, and teaching. Whereas the roman empire simply continued empiring, warring, conquering, killing, and violently opressing innocents, along with draining funds from the perifery for the good of the oligarchical elite of the hegemonic centre, all in the official name of "imperial peace". The christian religion was just another tool for mass control. One for whom the cosmopolitan ideals of old rome had to give way to a more dogmatic, monotheistic monolithic empire, with the new faith being the main ideology. We can talk about justification all we want, but let's never forget this. Rome didn't suddenly have a change of heart. It had a change of political strategy.

Another great video as always. Even if it feels less like Fallout, and *really* caters to the community's obsession with Joshua Graham, I still think it's pretty cool. I hate to say that I don't think the Legion using a shield wall would be enough to win the 1st Battle, the main reason why the NCR won was due to the Rangers and their ambush in Boulder City, but I still think it's a cool touch. I also was hoping that we'd get more of the Legion's perspective, of the troubles of dealing with Brotherhood insurgents, rather than the extensive focus on Graham. Honestly, it kind of feels more like his story rather than that of the Legion as a whole. I'm not saying its bad, it's certainly higher quality than anything I could put together, but I just feel like this is Graham fanfiction in the second half. Personally, I'd love to know what your creative process is. I'm inspired by your work personally, and I'd like to make a series of my own set in a setting of my own creation in a similar vein, with a bit more focus on individual characters in sections. So I'd love to see how you make these videos. Maybe a behind the scenes video would be cool?
