I think you're underestimating the potential of super kaioken. SSJ1 is 50x base and SSJ2 is 100x base. That would mean ssjkaioken is 50x*2 base which is basically SSJ2. He'd be a little bit weaker than OG ssj2 Gohan, but far more than enough for Cell. I'd say Cell would be defeated easily, unless Cell would use kaioken as well.

There are some problems with this Alternate Timeline, as FPSSJ Son Goku using a 2X Kaiōken would have been more than enough to have surpassed and then defeated Perfect Cell, Son Goku should have been constantly receiving Zenkai Boosts from him recovering from his injuries after eating a Senzu Bean during the Cell Games, and Son Gohan should have still been able to achieve Full Power Super Saiyan, as Son Gohan has a higher natural fighting potential and hidden potential than Son Goku too.

Gohan not having the large potential we know him to have is the catalyst of the story, that’s why it’s a “what if” since it’s one of his defining traits in the main series, and if he didn’t have it, things would be vastly different. As for the zenkai argument, that’s true. He’d be getting stronger with each senzu bean but the strain of the Super Kaioken was just too much and it kept draining him faster than he could keep up with.

Goku Black actually did something similar in the manga. Future Zamasu would heal Black whenever the latter got beaten up to exploit Zenkai boosts. If memory serves, Black surpassed full-power SSj2 Trunks (which was almost equal to SSj3 Goku in the manga, mind you) in just his base form, and later almost matched SSjG in just his SSj1 form, which was able to keep up with a weakened SSjB Vegeta, before finally unlocking Rose after one more heal. If Goku had a whole *bundle* of Senzus for himself in this what-if, he might go even further than SSj2. Lmao.

This was actually an interesting, though short What if. By the way, if you do take suggestions, could you do What if the Earth didn't forget Goku after the battle against King Piccolo? It may not change things drastically, but it's an interesting scenario to think about, particularly if Hercule can't take credit against Cell or the population's reaction to their dead champion coming back in the Buu Saga for the tournament.

I was under the impression the reason he never did this in the manga was due to the fact the Kaio-ken requires immense focus and a relatively calm mind, and turning Super Saiyan period meant being in a state of emotional turmoil. It wasn't a matter of killing himself instantly, it just wasn't physically possible.

The kaio Ken and the SS transformation combined would expend all of his energy in one use. The biggest issue with SS was that it burns so much energy even just transforming into it. And while they are ss ki is just buring off their bodies. It wasn't until ssj2 that they learned to control that amount of leaking. I think goku literally just didn't know how to combine them until super lol

Cell didn't know he could regenerate until he witnessed Piccolo himself do it. It's likely that after he sees Goku pair Kaioken with SSJ; he'd likely start using it himself; which would mean doom for the Dragon Team; as Cell has a much better body for the technique. Interestingly this would still lead to Goku dying, and SSJ2 Gohan being a thing, but it'd be SSJ2 Gohan VS Perfect Kaiocell; which would probably be similar in strength to Super Perfect Cell, but with a twist...he may be able to use higher multipliers safely due to the way his body works.

I made a short about it a little while ago and I mainly think that way because he used the Kamehameha before ever meeting anybody who could do it, so we know he has access and knowledge of these techniques, but there’s hundreds of them that he never pulled out

You're not exactly wrong, but it would fall under the category of cheap or dishonorable tactics that would revolt everyone except Trunks. Maybe Vegeta attempted something similar on Namek, but I can't think of any other heal-spamming. I think Goku would be more likely to attempt a coordinated assault, or a rapid-spiritbomb.

Ironically enough some people actually underestimate how dangerous Kaioken actually is. We only see Goku, (someone who has basically mastered it) use it EVER. It nearly PARALYZES him multiple times despite near mastery. Imagine if someone BRAND new to it tried it? Regeneration or not they’d just explode.

You’re thinking of Goku Black, who learned his techniques upon seeing them. Cell already had the techniques embedded in his DNA, which is why we saw him use the Special Beam Cannon before ever seeing Piccolo use it. Cell only learned Instant Transmission AFTER Goku sacrificed himself, he already had Goku’s DNA in him, but only DNA that was collected BEFORE Goku was on Namek. Cell regenerated himself in response to Goku’s death, essentially “absorbing” Goku’s cells and receiving a zenkai in the process.

So Goku might try to stack Kaioken on top of his SSJ2 or even SSJ3 in the afterlife. Android 16 might either work for Capsule corp or work with Android 17, if Android 16 lives in Capsule corp and continues receiving updates from Bulma, 16can become vegeta’ training partner. Kirrlin need longer time to empress Android 18. Those can contribute to a lots difference not just in Buu arc, but also in Super.

I don't really see how SSJ with KK would be stressful or at least more stressful than already using it in Base. I know Super says it would be, but in the original story, Goku and Gohan mastered SSJ to the point where it became their new base form during the ten days with no drawbacks to speak of.

Not entirely true. So what is happening is that while he can maintain the SSJ form without any drain to his energy, it's still straining his body physically due to the fact that there's that little bit of rage within him while in that form. It is still a form that is multiplying your body's limits, so it'll strain your body no matter how well you master it. Adding the Kaioken, which puts an even greater strain on your body, would then also multiply by the SSJ multiplier. Essentially, Kaioken x2 in SSJ Grade 4/FPSSJ would be adding a 100x strain to his body, and the higher the level of Kaioken he uses, the more difficult the strain on his body is

I've always thought that the only reason Goku could use Kaioken in Super Saiyan is because he was dead and it wasn't nearly as much of a strain on him. This is later supported by his statement concerning SS3 being harder to maintain while alive against Kid Buu. Ultimately, it would probably be a similar result as when Goku fired off that full power Kamehameha. Cell got badly damaged but ultimately fully healed, while Goku ended up expending too much energy to go for another kill shot.

The reality is that if he did do it he would have just hit a 4x and tried to one shot cell. He would know it would only have 1 maybe 2 shots so he wouldn’t waste it and he certainly wouldn’t do it as a x1 he would try to jump so far above cell that a one shot kameha wave would end it. I'm pretty sure that even _with_ the Super Kaioken Cell would still be stronger, and I'm saying this for the main timeline Goku who had MSSJ Gohan as a training partner and was thus stronger. MSSJ Gohan was massively stronger than Goku at the time and yet Cell was able to casually dominate him whenever he wanted until he got SSJ2, which he also had a rage boost for. Then when Cell went full power in the Manga it even momentarily made Goku think Gohan might not win. Even with using and abusing the Senzu Beans I see no way this version of Goku using Super Kaioken would be enough for Cell (although if Canon Goku used and abused the Senzu Beans he might have a shot)

It’s debatable whether or not Cell could use the Kaioken seeing as how he somehow inexplicably gained the ability to use instant transmission which is a spirit control technique not simply a Ki technique and the games did give him the ability to use the Spirit bomb despite the actual clear drawback of someone like Cell attempting to use such a technique

The reason SSJ and KK doesn’t mix is because Super Saiyan requires emotional stress. At the end of the day, even when mastered, FPSSJ is implied to be amazingly good for STAMINA, but nothing implies that he’s not still being forced to tap into his emotions. Kaioken is a technique that forces the user to maintain total “calming focus” as he says in Super. Calming Focus and Quiet Rage don’t mix well together, hence why it’s implied it would be an almost instant-loss. That being said, Goku fighting Cell and constantly eating Senzu Beans would give him HELLA Zenkai boosts, for it might be enough for him to transform in SSJ2 at that point anyway LMAO. Also for the same somewhat logic, I’m not entirely sure Gohan is that much weaker. There’s no power difference between Grade 1 and Grade 4. The idea is that, again, FPSSJ is supposed to be the “new base” almost, so they don’t have to waste energy transforming. Fact is, Gohan wasted energy with Cell anyway because he told Cell about his dormant power and that’s why Cell beat him up, and Cell gave him the time to power up in his Super Saiyan form anyway before they fought, so it’s reasonable to believe he would have let Gohan transform as well.

Honestly I wish he did used super Kaioken in z it just looked so cool with his entire body being red it’s just sad it’s not canon although since he used Kaioken with super saiyan blue in db super I think it’s safe to say it’s possible but goku never needs to use it since we’ll he has the super saiyan god forms and ultra instinct so yeah I don’t think we’ll see super Kaioken ever again which is sad because in my opinion it’s underrated

Not necessarily, there’s two ways she could be brought back. One is the fight between Gohan and Cell still playing out the same with Cell spitting her up, and Gohan going in for the kill before it’s too late, and the second scenario is they just wish her back with the Dragon Balls just like how 17 came back. Except with that scenario, 18 is less likely to get with Krillin because she wouldn’t have been there to hear his wish about removing the bombs in their chest

Technically a x2 kaioken would essentially put him at ssj2 level so he could be cell but could his body handle the strane of ssj and kaioken at that moment? If he gohan wasnt the option and he actually train then id say yes but just randomly trying to use it......ahhhhiiii dont think so

yes its filler but seeing that it happend in super id still consider it possiuble but gokus body would have too much strain from doing it sadly. I feel like he would of been able to pummel cell but at the cost of his life. however i mean seeing how he could be a super saiyan without straining his body (mssj) i felt like technically it should of been possible.

This is cool but I hate the ending. I think it should have ended with Goku whipping out Super Kaioken x2 for that final kamehameha and it obliterating cell, but at the cost of his own life.

I'm not too sure if it's enough. SSJ2 Gohan at that time is more than just having SSJ2, as he's a hybrid Saiyan with inner rage and more potential, his rage made him way more dominant against Cell. SSJ2 Vegeta in Buu Saga never really surpassed Gohan SSJ2 at that time before he turns Majin.
