If Heatran goes to go back in time and tear up a prior gen i think it's only fair it gets to bring its signature move it learns via level up with it. Though for simplicity's sake I see why BKC excluded it though, through that criteria it'd gain Magma Storm but also lose Eruption because it only gets that from a pokemon ranger event. Though I wonder if it'd get its Gen 4 120 BP 70% accurate Magma Storm vs its current 100 BP 75% accuracy. I think getting to keep signature moves they learn via level up are fair game though. Dracovish would be middling in any gen before 8 if it didn't get Fishious Rend, for example.

Heatran is interesting because it's the only Legendary that's 'legendary' in the sense that it's just an exceedingly rare pokemon and not tied up in some crazy lore. Kind of like what Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres were like before they got tied up in Lugia's lore. I always like to see it in the same way that Rotom is like.

Well, Gen 1 Mewtwo jumps out as the obvious most broken auto include guy. If he is getting hazard support, he is even scarier. I am actually not sure if Gen 2 Snorlax actually stays as strong. A lack of good fighting moves is one of the biggest reasons for it being good. Responding to gen 1 Mewtwo seems like it would be the biggest priority. If you could get it to sleep that would be ideal with how brutal gen 1 sleep mechanics are.

But I was hoping to mostly keep it OU. Oh and Snorlax absolutely doesn't stay as strong, but that's kinda the point. How does it get balanced by the existence of modern mons? It's still insanely bulkier than modern Snorlax since it can run 252hp/252/def while still being able to pack a punch.

@@benjihuynh2970 Oh restricting to OU def changes things. Baton Passing with gen 3 mons sounds like a good formula since Baton pass is illegal in other gens. I feel like passing an agility onto a gen 1 wrap Dragonite is pretty scary. There is also some funky passing you could do to pass amnesia to gen 1 pokemon that wouldn't normally be able to boost. Scizor passing Swords dance and focus energy onto Gen 1 Tauros sounds like a scary combo, with guaranteed crits on a hyper beam that doesn't make you recharge on KO. Ironically, despite being the undisputed best pokemon in the tier, I feel like gen 3 ttar never gets used since it just get's so much better if you use it gen 5 where pursuit is physical and it gets the SP. Def boost from being in sand. Definitely an interesting idea. Feels like the odd numbered Gens would be the more powerful ones, with Gen 1 obviously having some wild BS, gen 3 having baton pass, gen 5 having permanent weather, and gen 7 having both Megas and Z-moves. I don't see any pokemon running a gen 4 or 6 set, but I could potentially see gen 2, and probably 8 though that's the metagame I know least about by far.

@@jaketerpening3284 gen 2 having max IV's + leftovers is really the only arguable advantage over gen 1, so you probably do your wall shopping there or in gen 8 (cuz booooooooooots!!). I think the only dude taking a gen 4 set is homie Metagross. Buff explosion, neutral dark/ghost, +rocks and the phys/spec split should in theory give it a little niche. As per usual baton pass is fucking stupid, if I ever coded this up I would probably ban that shit. My instinct was that Tauros would be fine cuz it's only got 100atk and no boosting items, so I figured the existence of steel types might make it's life tough. In general, I think the worst gens are 3/4/6 cuz of super limited movepool and no Max ev's for 3/4 and cuz everything in gen 6 is worse than it is in gen 7. Gen 6 has 1 guy who's arguably useful but I can only think of 1 and that's buffed Gale wings talonflame. The other huge gen 7 buff is the extra boost from terrain, so everybody who wants tapu help us getting their offense from 7

One of my favorite Heatran sets is specially defensive Lava Plume, Sub+Protect, and Roar. In gen 3, that would be demonic, even after you replace Lava Plume with Flamethrower or Fire Blast

Awesome video idea. Heatran's Flash Fire is so menacing, a Fire Blast cooks a Defensive Swampert into being KO'd by HP Grass. Defensive Mence w/ EQ or Flygon could help, but you basically need Heal Bell. Defensive Gyarados would be great, but then you have a Defensive Gyarados and have to build around that. A Sub + Taunt Stall Breaker set would be very scary to a lot of my teams. YoloSkarm might become slightly more viable.

One meta game I’d want to see is a gen 1 mechanics where special stats are fused, and there is no physical special splint among other things. Also things would be far bulkier due to having all EVs. It would be interesting to see how this works with newer items and Pokémon.

Take for example blissy taking the higher of the two for 135 special stat would let it hit extremely hard. I did a calc for fun aggron vs heatran. 232hp 196att 72SpD 8speed vs 252hp 60att 4def 126SpA 66speed. Respectively in sand. Flamethrower is a 4hko but eq is a 2hit ko quranteed against aggron and aggro ohkos heatran with eq now if you make heatran bulky you can 252hp and def you can still 3hko aggron with eq and aggron takes 2hko doing 80% low end per hit and maximum of 95%. Overall pretty good the speeds can be adjusted or more att evs can be invested those speed evs are for other things and aggron just added the 8 to outspeed a 66ev heatran after a rock tomb. Overall a fun what if I would love to see gen 3 with gen 8/9 mechanics though like only pokemon available in gen 3 with movesets, items, abilities, etc of gen 8/9 only(no transfer stuff etc)

The Hail cheap is really great, negating Skarm/Jira Lefties was really huge, and it still hits decentyl hard. Heatran would go crazy, seeing how well Fire/Steel works defensively. However, Dugtrio can easily trap and eliminate it, and due to Ground and Steel being physical, I feel like its preferred moveset on dedicated special attackers would be Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Solar Beam/Hidden Power Grass, Dragon Claw (given to it as consolation for Dragon Pulse not existing yet, and Will-o-Wisp/Toxic/Crunch. Heatran could also run a mixed set of Earthquake, Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Crunch, and Ancient Power/Rock Slide. In fact, I feel like it would be very powerful, but also balanced by its quadruple weakness to Ground, taking damage from Spikes, and having weaknesses to Water and Fighting.

Being able to recover gives it a lot of longevity, so there would probably some teams that take it over Swampert, but I would guess that Swampert usually would outclass it.

I think refresh Claydol is a decent switch we’d see more of that. If it got lava plume? goodnight. You burn claydol with lava plume and run HP grass to kill it after chip. Also you run speed to Ohko pert. Offensive heatran would be amazing

It would be losing u-turn, stealth rocks, and could no longer have choice scarf, so I don't think it would completely take over, but it would definitely be good. I think Swampert would appreciate the inclusion since I think a lot more pokemon would opt for HP Ice instead of grass in order to deal with Lando.

Imagine if Poison Heal Gliscor was released in gen 3. Obviously it wouldn't be the greatest because the movepool additions from gen 4 really made Gliscor. In gen 3, all I can think of that it'd really have are EQ, Swords Dance, Taunt, and Toxic. However, immunity to all of the TSS flying around AND immunity to Arena Trap is absolutely massive, some of the main reasons other than raw walling prowess that Skarm is so great in ADV

gliscor is gen 4 anyways, you'd be adding a high base stat mon in addition to giving it a stupid ability, even if it doesn't have toxic orb. Toxic usage would drop off a cliff lmao

@@williamjewell6247 It really would. I'm definitely thinking it's immunity to Sand and Spikes plus healing from poison and immunity to Arena Trap alone is enough to make it a major player. I'm just not sure what its defensive sets would look like if Poison Heal Gliscor was put into gen 3 where there was much worse movepools

@@typhlosion7872 maybe, although it might have knock off as an option, so some sets might run it Alternatively, it could run a choice band set with aerial ace, eq, rock slide, and HP bug to slap pretty much everything in the tier neutral or super-effective damage. Hell, it could even run sludge bomb if it wanted to and switch HP bug for HP ghost to clap gengar. There's a few different sets it could run, from sweeper to bander to support with knock off and tbolt/eq immunity

Alright, so just leaving my thoughts before I watch most of the video: I'm sure Heatran would have been OU in Gen 3 with its stats and typing, but I feel like it would be a lot worse off than in Gen IV on the whole just because of all the stuff that wouldn't logically come with it. The worst things are the lack of Choice Scarf and Choice Specs, so it won't hit as hard, can't revenge nearly as much, and can't possibly survive Dugtrio if it gets in on you. Also, with no Earth Power or Dragon Pulse, you've got Hidden Power for coverage and that's about it. And with no Stealth Rock, that entire niche is gone. And Steel typing has always been great, but without the dragon-spamming of Gen IV onwards, it's hardly mandatory to have a Steel. So what does that leave you? A slower, bulkier Moltres that's not Spikes Immune and trades being deathly afraid of Rock Slide for being deathly afraid of Earthquake, which also isn't an upgrade. You can pivot into Metagross Meteor Mash like a champ, but if they predict and Earthquake on the switch, it's game over. And while you'd otherwise counter Charizard and Moltres, the former could easily slot in Earthquake if it was really worried about you. You'd still be the best Moltres counter in the game I suppose, and probably counter Gengar and Celebi and Jirachi as well, but, well, still Duggy bait in the end as well.

I’m really curious about agislash in bw. I think it would be good but it doesn’t really have the bulk to take day rain boosted surfs but it also acts as a pursuit trapper to latios because of its good bulk. It would work on both weathers but idk if it would be broken like in gen 6 cuz the meta is just so much stronger. (It would have been really silly with gems tho)

But you have to remember that steel wasn't nerfed in gen 5. If powercrept metagame like gen 6 can't handle aegislash then gen 5 definitely can't handle it.

Special agislsh would still lose to ttar because it wouldn’t have anything very strong to hit it with (like flash cannon but ttar all run max sdef anyway). Physical agislash would have terrible coverage bc sacred sword it still locked to the swords of justice trio so at best it’s got brick break so the power of its moves are all 80 or below. This also results in ferro beating it though sheer bulk. Obviously I am still talking about a mon it effectively a mon with 150 in all offences and defences so it still hits like a truck.

I mean, it wouldn't be that hard to kill with Dugtrio, and I feel like Milotic and Suicune could come in easily on it. I think Starmie with recover would work well too since natural cure would alleviate toxic. Spikes are way more prevalent since stealth rocks isn't a thing yet. You mentioned it could taunt milotic, but if you are investing speed into it, then it is gonna take good damage from surf, and it has no recover. EQ is also such an accessible move that if it became too problematic, more pokemon would just slap it on there. I think it would be good, but I doubt it would be a tier breaking as you are making it out to be.
