I had a friend who I only discovered at his memorial had served in Korea, and fought at the Chosin Reservoir - he went through one of the most horrific battles with insane suffering- AND HE NEVER MENTIONED IT in the 20 years I was friends with him. I've embrassed a lot of suck, but nothing in my life compares to what my friend went thru - and I'm continuously challenged to not get overwhelmed when shitty things happen. And then I think of Bob & what he went through and he didn't drag that s#&t out & parade it or use it as an excuse - he just got on & lived and I am humbled by the sacrifice that people like him went through in WW2 & Korea.

@@adamprice8382 so much presumption, lol. Let’s use a simple example, cold exposure. No one that does it says it doesn’t suck, or keeps doing it because it’s fun. @@argosbrave6415 oh I understand the principle behind it. I'm just speaking from my own experience. Short term stuff like ice bathing is easy. I realized, nothing in my marine corps career would ever come close to how much the transition sucked. Getting medically separated, being physically disabled, legs, hips torn, back fucked up, nerves messed up, shoulders and chest messed up, homeless for a bit, fighting the VA for some health care.....that, that sucks. I've been in physical rehabilitation for the last 5 fucking years. I gave up my prime years, my late teens and early 20s, just to come back, and be on bed rest and rehab. What a waste of my youth. And as it stands, my physical injuries won't ever recover. It's been years. I look back at my years of service and think, shit back then was elementary school compared to this. Embrace the suck, I did, and life now is 100Xs worse. I know truly know what suck is. And it sure as hell wasn't my rime in the marines. It's the time after.
