Naboo was the Emperor's homeworld and he still had a very extensive spy network there. He also had a retreat there. It'd be second only to Coruscant for the most dangerous populated planet for Luke to grow up on Tatooine was more remote, Imperial presence was comparatively low, there was no real reason for the Emperor to visit, and Darth Vader avoids the place like no other because it brings back memories of Anakin Skywalker.

I think there were actually two main reasons why Luke was sent to Tatooine. The most obvious, of course, is that he actually did have biological family there, possibly it was assumed that he could better handle the rigors of that type of life. But, I think there was also a more important reason to consider. I'm going to assume that Luke was either sensed to be stronger in the Force than Leia, or else Obi-Wan really did come to believe that he must be the chosen one. Consider that Vader sensed Luke's power from several ship lengths away during the Death Star battle, yet couldn't tell Leia was force-sensitive when he was standing next to her. Given that fact, it makes great sense that Luke was not raised on Alderaan. Remember that at the time, the Imperial Senate was still in session. Bail Organa was a prominent figure, and had Luke been raised as his son, he doubtless would have followed in this career just as Leia did. This would have resulted in Luke having multiple close encounters with Palpatine directly. If Vader sensed his power, Palpatine certainly would have realized that Luke was a force-sensitive. Even if he didn't make the connection between Luke and Anakin Skywalker, he would certainly have regarded Luke as a threat. A better question would be why take the risk of not only keeping him with family, but allowing him to keep the name Skywalker? It would have been much safer had he been raised as Luke Lars. Incidentally, there's a long running fanfic on Ao3 with this exact plot. I wonder if they got the idea from your video? I may ask once I get around to checking it out.

Winter and Leia had gene therapy at a young age so the two of them would grow up looking like each other as a counter measure. Winter also had a natural edict memory . Winter was a hand maiden decoy, her and Leia raise as sisters and Bail treated the both of them as his daughters. So Luke would have had a "brother/ twin" if he grown up on Alderaan. Also Bail's palace was open to the staff's families so there was children all over the place.

That's actually pretty cool. If and when you have the chance, I have a What if Story I'd love to see someone try. In Revenge of the Sith, I always felt Obi Wan was really fucking cold for someone he felt was a 'brother' to him to watch burn to death before his eyes. I'd like to see what if Obi Wan meant what he said and as soon as Anakin caught fire, he was on him, put out the fire, dragged him away from the lava and made the decision to trust Padme that there was still good in him and maybe Anakin could still be talked back from the dark side. Taking both Padme and a limbless Anakin with him from the planet. I'd love to see a what if scenario on that.....what would happen? Would Anakin be saved from evil in time, or would he lead Palpatine to them and have them all destroyed?

Just finished watching both videos and commenting on the Leia segment. I love this whole thing and really hope to see you continue it, so I am making sure to show my appreciation by sharing my thoughts on both videos. As with the Leia segment, this one is awesome! I find the entire thing mostly plausible, so great job! But yes, I did say MOSTLY plausible. You see, it seems that your premise is that Luke pretty much would have had the same experiences Leia had in canon, just handling them differently because of his own personality. The exception is clearly that he has taken a significantly more active role in the rebellion. I have no problem with this, in fact, I applaud it; the only change is which twin went where, everything else SHOULD be the same. The small problem I have is not with something I think you did wrong, but in something I feel was a big omission. If we are assuming Luke has had essentially the same experiences as the canon Leia, plus additional hands on experience with the Alliance, then Luke would have met the crew of the Ghost, just as Leia did (in fact, he probably would have had even more interactions with them than Leia has). Now, in your AU, we know that, when an Inquisitor was sent to investigate Luke, he returned to Coruscant with a false report that the Alderaanian prince had no innate Force abilities because he was a double agent, but it was still fairly clear that he really could feel the Force in Luke. Here's what I struggle with. If the Inquisitor could sense the Force in Luke, Kanan should also have been able to do so considering just how powerful Luke's connection to the Force is. I believe that one of two things would have happened at that point; either Kanan would have asked Luke to become his student alongside Ezra, or he would (more likely, in my opinion) give Ezra some kind of Jedi Trial and then have Ezra take Luke on as a Padawan. Either way, I think Luke's Force training would have started much earlier in this continuity (I'm thinking late season 2 or early season 3 of Rebels, so when Luke is about 16-17, the same as Ezra since they were both born on Empire Day). Perhaps Luke might even have joined the crew of the Ghost for a while, only to be sent back to Tantive IV by Bail Organa for protection during the battle of Scariff. Everything else after that would unfold as you described. The change wouldn't alter anything else unless or until Obi-Wan tried to train Luke and saw the progress he had already made. That's the only issue I had with this. An error of omission. Even considering that omission, though, this is an awesome tale you've woven for us and I sincerely hope to see a continuation in the very near future. If you like any of my ideas, feel free to use them; all I ask in return is that you give me a shout out. Keep up the great work!

COMMODITY: in the world of star wars, I believe obi wan would have found it easier to look after and keep track of luke than leia on tattooine because as they hit puberty, mainly via the corruption of tattooine, leia may have been dancing for jabba faster than old Ben could keep up with. luke on the other hand was more likely to get into fights, but being male, wouldnt be sold as easily (via slavery), married off, or kidnapped. Please note im not being sexist, its just in terms of generic danger, I think leia would have had a much more difficult time on the dune planet than her brother. drops mic
