Elizabeth I and Ivan the Terrible were two of the most well known monarchs of their time. But what few know is that these how had extensive relations with each other. They exchanged letters, Elizabeth sought to gain English trading rights' in Ivan's Russia, while Ivan was seeking an English military alliance. It has been posed, although evidence is scarce, that Ivan the Terrible may have had designs to marry Elizabeth. What if this actually occurred, and Ivan the Terrible and Elizabeth eventually sired a male child.

The War of Spanish Succession and the Great Northern War are fused into ONE, world-spanning conflict, with enormous alliances and military geniuses on both sides. The Bourbon-Scottish-Swedish-Polish alliance, And the Habsburg-Savoy-Anglo-Russian alliance.

If Russia and England stay allied, I think in even a few generations Russia can establish a strong tradition of shipbuilding and navy. I could see history going very differently, especially in the baltic, but even possibly winning the Russo-Japanese war of 1905.

If we are going through the "what if" marriage rabbit hole, here is mine. What if Saladins brother and Richards's sister married and became the rulers of the kingdom of Jerusalem? The idea fell through due to a myriad of factors but one of the biggest was what religion the children would adhere to.

1. While Russian politics will certainly benefit due to the lack of a Time of Troubles, I'm very skeptical that Russian political structure would be changed. If anything, England in the 1570s was much closer to Russia or France of the same time period than it would be to its post-1648 incarnation. Elizabeth I was autocrat of England in all but name, who ruled as much as she could through fiat and the advice of her Privy Councillors (like Cecil and Walsingham) and used Parliament as a rubber stamp just like her father and grandfather had before her. Her successor's son (Charles I) also clashed with Parliament because he wanted to restore that autocratic power, which his father had largely lost because of his weak position as a political outsider. Dimitri will also lose power since he has to split time between two distant countries. But if he has sons, the son in England will probably try to reclaim his grandmother's powers, which will lead to a civil war. And that might involve Russian troops. 2. The tsar-king will not import the English parliament into Russia because he already had his own version of the general-estates at home: the Zemski Sobor. He'll see it just like his father saw it and how Elizabeth saw Parliament: as a good rubber stamp that would become an obstruction to efficient government (ie. the ability of the king to do whatever he wants) if it were given the ability to actually oppose him, and he'd only need to look at how the pre-Tudor parliament had sometimes severely hampered the power of Plantagenet kings for proof. In Russia, the tsars were mostly weak in the 50 years after the Time of Troubles, but the Zemski Sobor did not take advantage of this to constitutionally limit their power, since there was no need in the moment. In England, the Stuarts were also weak, but Parliament was interested in making that state of affairs permanent. 3. Ivan IV's autocracy was an anomaly in Russian history, as was Peter's. All tsars between Ivan IV and Peter I were limited strongly by the Zemski Sobor, which actually retarded reform efforts in a lot of ways. In fact, the pre-Petrine Romanovs' biggest accomplishment was slowly making the Zemski Sobor irrelevant to _de facto_ politics, which allowed Feodor III and later Peter I to enact much-needed reforms. 18:12 4. Nope, that doesn't happen. His successor in Russia will be Orthodox _or else,_ as False Dmitri I found out. In fact, a growing separation between church and state will actually make it harder to control in the future, since it still owns a lot of land and can raise private armies, and making it more independent = making it less controllable and more powerful. One of Peter the Great's best reforms was permanently binding the church to his will by replacing the Patriarch with the Holy Synod, which wholly removed the church as an independent player in politics. Meanwhile, the Anglican Church was headed by the English monarch, which gave them autocratic power over its workings by default.

I think it's possible that Russia would have more colonies in this world. If Russia and England remain friendly, Russia wouldn't feel the need to sell Alaska, and may feel secure enough to keep their California colonies and expand them. It would be interesting to see a part two where the soviets take over mainland Russia and the House of Rurik flees to Angelgrad (Los Angeles)
@mrsillytacos

But the communists would be unpopular since Russia would have a larger naval tradition and therefore win the Russo Japanese war. Also there's no guarantee we have a really incompetent leader like Nicholas II so the USSR would have never existed.

I could definitely see much more dedicated British support if WW1 stays the same, but the fact is that Russia would also gain a lot from this, such as technological advances and a lack of political instability. This means the army can grow further and the navy, especially due to English knowledge since the Russians would now be a bit better. Possibly to the point of a potential Russian victory in the Russo-Japanese war. This would also make Russia fighting in WW1 much harder for the Central powers to crush, especially with historic friendship of the British, meaning they might prioritize sending troops to Russia over France. This alone buys possibly months before a Russian collapse, at least maybe even actually winning WW1 without Russia collapsing. The possibilities are quite literally endless with this scenario, especially the further down we go on with it.

Well, the two biggest things I think this timeline would change is 1- instead of trying to balance the continental powers against each-other, England could just rely on giving Russia support on occasion if need be. The English navy, especially with the extra trade, would be unbeatable. And now with the threat of Russian mobilization, short of a complete coalition the Brits will probably be the soft-power of all European diplomacy. And 2- The eventual Russo-British alliance, with the exception of a small sliver owned by the nordics, would be able to lay claim to all the arctic. Canada would be more populated and maybe even reach down into Cascadia/the great lakes due to the wider demand for Beaver furs from two sibling empires.

This would also make huge chances in WW1 as instead of Belgium being what brings them into its Russia this time. I mean, if they are allies or close, it would be a two-way street, but it could also mean instead of the Central Powers fighting France and Russia. It could this time be a British-Russian alliance instead which has massive ripples on its own as the British can dedicate all their army to Russia while Russia with more tech in the army and navy would have a bit of an easier time but likely barely a difference due to Russia being the only front in Europe for this WW1.

Great scenario! It could be amongst the AlternateHistory unlikely sovereign pairings like Charlemagne and Irene. Are you going to make more historical character with super-powers (What if Hitler could fly?) or a fictionnal character inserted in History? Once the Stuart understand they will never inherit the Throne I wonder what position they would take towards England. Maybe a renewed alliance with France to weaken the empowered England.

I think, all else being equal, the increased commercial ties between the English and Russians would definitely lead to a far more interesting Baltic Sea. In order to preserve those ties the Royal Navy would be far more interested in muscling it's way into the affairs of Scandinavia whilst the Russian Army would any and all English distractions to push the frontier west. Who knows? maybe the English will try to do the same thing they did in the Mediterranean and take a tiny island as a naval base (Bornholm or Aland perhaps?). With English tech maybe the Russians will do better in their wars against... everyone. The Swedes, Danes, and Poles will certainly have a few words to say about the English interlopers and their Russian compatriots. Although interesting, by far the most consequential part of this is the lack of union between England and Scotland. English conquest of Scotland is all but guaranteed without outside help... Which would most certainly not be in short supply. The French have long been convenient allies of the Scots. And now they will suddenly see increased support from the Scandinavians. The culture of England will certainly be far more aggressively English. Without the sudden loss of a land border with a rival power, England can't become a purely naval power essentially overnight.

Not really sure why people would want to go to the middle of nowhere, where the best this changes is a more prosperous and larger Vladivostok, there would still be the issue of most of the country and development would be in the west, and until gold rushes and oil its not a very valuable seeming land in Alaska. Thus at best it just ends up sold to Canada instead of the US.

This one had crossed my mind as well. Scotland was a basket case for long periods in the 16th century. James VI of Scotland was married to a Princess of Denmark. Would Elizabeth, the winter queen have still happened. Probably yes and lets say that Henry Frederick Stuart not being in London survived. As Stuart rulers found their sons a handful, Henry Frederick would have wanted to get involved in the 30 years war. A Swedish army supported by Russian forces would squeeze the Polish-Lithuania commonwealth brining the conflict to an end quickly. This would allow Christian and Gustav Aldophus with Scottish support (in OTL scottish mercenaries and the 3rd Earl of Essex) to link up and push back the Imperials. We could have Charles Stuart becoming Holy Roman Emperor of a Northern Germany? Russian would be focus on the West and with English and Russian navies linking up to dominate the North sea and Baltic, there would be some falling out with Denmark and their ally, Scotland. Sweden could look to Russian support in future wars with Denmark. We could give a Scotland, North American colony say in Maine instead of the Darien.

So I have finished watching the video and I have 2 questions: 1. With Russia having a Government similar to England and also being more powerful, does this mean that Russia would do more better in the Napoleonic Wars and WW1? 2. Since England and Russia would be close in this timeline, does this mean that England, which would become the British Empire not mind Russia wanting to expand its Influence in the Black and Mediterranean Seas?

1. What do you mean? Russia did very well in the Napoleonic Wars. Emperor Paul's loopiness aside, Suvorov's 1799 campaign went as well as it could under the circumstances, and the 1812 campaign was a smashing success.

I may not know that much of history as you niether being that good at realism but i think that Russia will grow faster too and everything they did (in expanding) they would do it earlier like conquering Finland earlier the same goee for Caucasus and part of the polish Lithuanian communwealth and it would probably go into colonisation earlier and taking some African colonies as Djibouti while maybe taking Hawaii and maybe Mongolia and parts iof Manchuria and it would may be for very little be the strongest country in the world because of it's inevitably growing size and industrialised because of England and may spread orthodoxy further Now England maybe be weaker because they still have Scotland independent and i don't know how much does Scotland helps in making England the country it is today but it would probably be weaker and may colonize America slower but if they conquer Scotland they would may do it faster and safer because Scotland could be a colonial competitor but it could also could be better because they have Russian resources so they are more powerful with rhat and may try harder because of Scottish competition in colonisation and with that maybe the strongest family and alliance in history Russia and England
