@janus27733 күн бұрын
ned still wouldn't like the lannisters and cercei still wouldn't allow him to govern until joffrey comes of age. the question is how far would he go if it was just about robert's last decree. he was willing to lie in the end for his family's sake. if he truly considered joffrey to be robert's son, he might even feel protective of him and might want to prevent him from being manipulated by cercei and appeal to him "this is what your father wanted", but joffrey still wouldn't care and from that point on things would play out pretty much the same.

I imagine Sandor looming over Trant and saying. “And what are you going to tell the queen?“ Trant’s face stiffens with gritted teeth. “Robert was drunk and got gutted by boar, Barristan got ‘dismissed’ from the kings guard. My big argument against this plotline so far is Sansa wouldn't be able to die because the two biggest power players in King's Landing (Littlefinger and Varys) wouldn't allow it. Littlefinger is a total creep who wants to use Sansa as a means of controlling the Vale, the Riverlands, and the North. He orchestrates the murder of a major Lannister just to have an excuse to help her flee the city. I'm sure he'd cook something up in those precious days where Sansa's fate is unknown just to maybe get her out of town, or at the very least try to plead for her life because he's a creep who wants to diddle a 12 year old princess. Varys, meanwhile, wouldn't dare let another Stark go after Ned got axed. Having an heir to Winterfell in his back pocket while he prepares for the invasion of Young Griff would be invaluable. I could see him blowing his cover early just to rescue her, smuggle her to the Disputed Lands, and chill with the Golden Company while he waits for things to get far enough along with Dany to warrant an invasion. Then, if things with Dany don't pan out and she doesn't deliver the dragons, he still has a rallying cry through Sansa to gather the North, Riverlands, and maybe the Vale to help fAegon split Westeros in half. Just marry fAegon to Sansa and reclaim two of those three kingdoms in her name.
@manband205 күн бұрын
UPDATE: Just realized this is show canon. Quick revise. Varys would use Sansa as an ally for Dany to take over Westeros since she could secure the loyalty of 2/3 aforementioned Kingdoms. He would propose marrying her off to her cousin, Sweetrobin, not knowing just how much Littlefinger controls that family through Lysa. This would gove them control of the only untouched armies in Westeros. Insert conflict between the two factions during Dany's invasion here.
@MilesY-gd4gi4 күн бұрын
Could this lead to a possible partnership out of convince between Varys and Littlefinger?
@Simon-A.-Tan4 күн бұрын
Doesn't matter whether they'd "allow" it or not. They don't have some sort of limitless influence.
@manband204 күн бұрын
@@Simon-A.-Tan Actually, they kinda do. Littlefinger could pay the bribes to get people to support Sansa in a trial (namely Meryn Trant since he'd look like an absolute idiot for letting Sansa Stark, a girl of 13, push the king to his death. Threaten to have him sent to The Wall if he doesn't say she slipped and just pay him for his silence. Varys has access to the Black Cells due to his undergaoler persona and uses it to whisk Tyrion away. He could easily get Sansa Stark out of there and on a ship before anybody notices. And even if they only want to have her imprisoned for a while, all they'd need to do is send a raven to Tywin saying "Joffrey's dead. Sansa's accused of murder. Cersei wants blood." and then have him write back saying they are not, under any circumstances, to let the girl die, which is the most logical thing to do since executing her means Jamie is probably dead. He'd send Tyrion off at breakneck pace to take over as Hand and maybe hold a trial in Tywin's absence. But that more than likely ends in a hung jury since there's only two witnesses: The Hound, who would want to protect her; and Ser Meryn, who can be threatened and bought. It's basically a matter of who gets Sansa out of the city first OR who can delay her execution the longest.

Here's the thing. Sansa can't do this because the plot won't let it happen. People love to say that ASOIAF has no plot armor while in fact, it has no plot armor for House Stark. The first three books up until the red wedding, or Tywin's death, were plot armors galore for House Lannister. Everything aligned perfectly for them that it's so obvious Martin wanted them to win. - Sansa had a chance to kill Joffrey: She didn't do it. - Balon had a chance to attack Lannisport for political gain: Attacked Winterfell instead. - Robb was winning the war: Catelyn somehow released Jaime behind his back for no other logical reason than "motherly instinct" (and she had the audacity to blame Brienne for the red wedding). - Robb wanted Edmure not to attack the mountain: Miscommunication caused Edmure to attack the Mountain which caused Tywin to return to save King's Landing in time. - Walder Frey took the whole Robb not marrying his granddaughter as a personal slight that he launched the red wedding: Has zero issues with the Lannister looking down on them. - Oberyn was winning the duel against the mountain: Decided not to finish him off and yapping way too much that the Mountain got a chance to kill him.

Do you think the Tyrells would still ally with the Lannisters in this scenario? Petyr Baelish could still try and negotiate a marriage between Margaery and Tommen but the Lannister position would seem MUCH more tenuous - Joffrey dies very quickly and Sansa's execution makes a peaceful settlement almost impossible by taking away their only leverage on the North, while also making Cersei's dysfunctional role in King's Landing very obvious. Petyr himself is also a wild card in this scenario: does he even still want to help the Lannisters with Sansa dead, or would he try and get in with another faction?

Realistically, I see the Tyrells making the opposite play - they’d appeal to Robb Stark as a husband for Maegary. He’s a King in his own right and by all accounts a very competent one. He’s good looking, good with his bannermen, a resoundingly competent killer, and I’m sure Olenna’s spies would confirm Robb Stark loved his sisters, taught his younger brothers, was a gentleman to the ward and the family byblow, and he was a nice boy who Maegary could play pillow politics with. That also means that with the Reach coming north, the Riverlands coming sideways, and the North pushing south, the Lannisters are pinned west of the Golden Tooth. Robb, if he was smart, would have told Theon to ask Yara to get her crews and get to building boats using the timber from the Wolfswood. (Offer her the title of Lady of Seadragon Point). Then, while he’s harrying the Lannisters on land, have Yara sack Lannisport with her Northern Iron fleet. The Tyrells can offer winter wheat, millet and barley as dowry, and enough glass to build geothermal greenhouses from the Neck to North of the Wall. Honestly it’s a solid play
@Aaron_Guest5 күн бұрын
@cloverazar5315 Robb wouldn't have to off Yara anything to build ships. He was having White Harbor build ships, and could have ships being built on the Eastern coasts on his own.

@ true, but white harbour is on the Eastern side of the North, near Bravos. Sea Dragon Point is on the Western side of the North, which wouldn’t be in competition with the Manderleys, but COULD push the Greyjoy and Lannisters. If you can have a bicoastal navy, why not?

Ned Stark marched south because two of his family were murdered and another missing. Robb Stark doing the same sends a serious message throughout Westeros, while also legitimising his claim to secede. The Iron Throne betrayed house Stark twice in two generations, clearly the North would be better served by leaving. The fact they're actively defending the Riverlands also raises their profile.

I always found the scene (both in the books and the show) where the hound tries to rescue Sansa and take her away from kings landing, and thus saving her to be cruelly ironic. Throughout much of the book (and show) up until that point, we hear how Sansa thinks and talk about how she fantasizes about a brave, strong knight saving her from evil, rescuing her and taking her away to safety like in all of the songs and stories. When *exactly that moment* finally comes, she turns away from it and doesn’t want it, because it’s not some hyper idealized, mythical beauty of a man. Really hits home the point we hear said to Sansa *a lot* in the book by many characters that real life isn’t like the songs and the stories. I always thought because of this, this scene between Sandor and Sansa is absolutely excellent in how it displays use of irony in the midst of tragedy.

So kind of a stray thought; I think the Purple Wedding (or rather the assination in the same timeframe) still occurs, only with Tommen being the victim. The assassination of Joffrey was a collaboration of Olena Tyrell and Little Finger. Olena because she didn't want Margaery to be abused and she considered Tommen to be more maeleable, and Little Finger to cause more chaos in the realm. It was all part of his long con scheme to enact his gross wife husbandry with Sansa Stark. With Sansa in this setting dead and Catelyn still very much alive, I see him reverting back to his original simping of trying to win over Catelyn. And what better way to cause chaos than to have the last of Robert's "heirs" assassinated, leaving a massive power vacuum. I could see him doing this without Olenna's support and because Cersei is Cersei, Tyrion would still be accused as the prime suspect.

Since it was probably Joffrey who ordered that Tyrion shouldn't survive the Battle of the Blackwater, it's very likely that we wouldn't have him so badly injured. He may possibly (or possibly not) have been in a better position to resist or undermine the version of events that Cersei told Tywin, and Tywin's carefully calculated stripping away of all Tyrion's influence and connections in King's Landing that he'd built up during season/book 2.

Would be funny if Sansa got the sun on her eyes and accidentally tripped and pushed Joffrey off but he survived and fully paral,yzed. Another way is that Sansa couldn't see again because the sun's in her eyes and backed up but when Joffrey moved too drag her into position whhle looking at Ned's head, he tripped&lost his balance. He was trying to grab a hold of Sansa but she wasn't there as the Hound got a hold of her. Joffrey was trying to stay on the platform and Sir Maron Tranz tried to save him but Joffrey's hand was a bit slippery and still continued to fall off the platform. Joffrey's not dead but can't talk and move at all as he's fully crippled. Joffrey would die several days later as the Maesters don't know how to heal him. Unfortunately Cersei's still in command behind the throne so she's still pissed off and maybe executes Sansa. The other knights saw that Joffrey fell off on his own as he wasn't looking where he was walking as he tried to grab Sansa into position. With the Hound being exiled and not to fight against Stannis' attack on the beach of the Black Water bay. Sir Barriston Selmi could still be dismissed as he tried to advise Cersei not to execute Sansa as he reminds her of Jaime is still a prisoner but Cersei still being pissed also dismisses him and instead resigns in protest of Sansa's execution. So Selmi still goes to Esos to serve Danaerys. The exiled Hound would try to find Arya since he actually knows what she looks like and plans to bring her to Robb Stark to change sides but also for gold. Obviously Tywin's pissed that Jaime got execited in retaliation for Sansa's death and let the Mountain loose to raid the riverlands. Since the Hound protected Arya on her way to the Northern army, Robb considered recruiting him since the Hound wanted to kill his brother. Robb tasks some ppl to help find the Mountain and help the Hound have his duel with his brother. Clegane won a fair fight since he knows of his brothers' weaknesses just didn't had the opportunity to fight him while he's in the Lannisters' army. With Tyrion being the Hand, he'd send more ppl to the Wall as he doesn't trust them especially as Cersei's more pissed and crazy. After finding out that Cersei got the alchemists to make new batch of wildfire, this reminds Tyrion to send the Mad King's very old stockpile of Wildfire to the Wall as he didn't want Cersei be tempted to use them. The older Wildfire are more unstable so it got diluted with sand&shaved wood to make it stable for transport. It's not that powerful compared to pure Wildfire but it's not like NitroGlycerinee that it will spontaneiously explode but making it like Dynamite just much more difficult to detonate. With Janos Slynt being sent to the Wall, he brought several dozen barrels of very old WildFire from the Mad Kings' stockpile that Tyrion had sent with him. There's still several hundred barrels of the old Wildfire barrels left from the stockpile in Kings Landing. Maester Aemon knowing how to make Wildfire and just got a large stockpile of diluted version of it, instructs the NightWatch to properly store it and how to alternatively use it too. Since it's very cold at the Wall, it's easier to store them&much more stable. So the NightsWatch would dip their swords into wildfire so that their blades have flames that can't be put out even if there's a blizzard. Also it's diluted enough that it won't melt their swords but the fire can be put out if the swords are buried under snow. So a spoon of wildfire mixed with diluted wine(water&alcohol) would be like a gallon of kerosine with higher wildfire resulting like gasoline. So Maester Aemon would get the Wall's staff to make grenades and molotov cocktails from the diluted wildfie making it very flammable and explosive depending on how much wildfire.

Sansa’s role in Joffrey’s death would also lead Cersei to spiral into paranoia of Arya to an even greater degree than she had after Tyrion’s escape. I could see her isolating the city and instigating a citywide search for Arya, alienating the citizens of King’s Landing. She might even have Tyrion killed as soon as he reaches the city out of madness from her interpretation of the valonqar prophecy, perhaps even blaming him for the death of Jaime.

I actually think the battle of black water could have gone very differently. The Lannister men would be very demoralised along side that fact so would Tyrion I don’t think he would be able to rise to the same caliber of leadership as before since their is no king that flees the battlefield or any king ever. I also wonder if Tyrion would even find the wild fire and if Cersei wouldn’t just out of anger command men loyal to her to hide some and try to use it as a way to prove herself right to her and Tyrion only for it to back fire and light parts of the wall on fire like Bronn predicted after it at first seeming to help and succeed. Which I think would only cause more damage and could lead to Blackwater being a victory for Stannis or even closer defeat where they manage to make their way inside. Adding on whether or not she gets a kings guard to try and kill Tyrion I can see Tyrion dying here or being more wounded in a harder fought battle. I also wonder what the Tyrell’s seek from their alliance as I doubt Margery could whisper in Tommens ear just as easily as before and obviously Cersei would be mad mama bear protective of her only son and child left in her arms at that point

"You are my son." If Jaime is dead, Tywin suddenly has to take Tyrion seriously as his heir. He'd absolutely hate it, but he'd formally name Tyrion heir and arrange a proper marriage for him. He's also marry off Cersei to Loras as quick as possible to get her away from Tommen.

This is an extremely cool timeline (if it goes the way you described it), but Yoren would arrive at castle black while most of them are north of the wall searching for Benjen. So Jon is somewhere with the wildlings when Gendry is trained. Pros: Joffrey dies earlier, Sansa dies (i hate her, one of the worst characters), Robb surviving, Starks having a chance to win, no red wedding, Aria reuniting with family, Theon staying loyal, gendry taking the black Cons: Aria not becoming assassin, Jaimey dies early, ... i can't think of anything else

She and Aegon would have more children, so Aenys marries a sister rather than Alyssa Velaryon. Heck, chances are Alyssa might marry Maegor or maybe Maegor marries another sister. Rhaenys wouldve helped her son become more politically savvy and decisive, as politices and PR seem to be her strong suits. So Aenys would be making better decisions here.

Honestly the logical solution at this point is that if Sansa is murdered by Cersei, Robb ought to send a cheeky lil letter over to Danaerys being like, “so how about them Lannisters, eh?”
@johnnydavis58964 күн бұрын
Cersei in such a insane state is going to try to have Tyrion murdered. But Tyrion would realize this probably. So one of them dies soon.

I’d like to think the Vale would be compelled to help the North after Sansa’s execution. Out of love for Cat, I’m sure Littlefinger would’ve done everything in his manipulative power to help her and further win her over.

What if the High Sparrow stayed in power past season 6? What if Cersei was captured by the Starks, instead of Jaime? What if Ramsay met Daenerys, instead of Jon?
@zelouskight245 күн бұрын
What if the Starks raised Direwolves like the Targariens raised dragons? So instead of a southern warhound the enemies would see packs of Direwolves moving like light calvary. Each branch of the family having a pack. (You could just make it that the animal bannered families care for a group of the animal on their banner. So the Lanesters would have a pride of lions.

Sandor would save Sansa from Merin and kill him because he hated him and then just take her to be tried in court and make up something happened to all of them on the crosswalk and Merin fell on his sword to explain the gut blow. He's a knight honorable not as much as Jamie or Brianne but Sansa is a WEAK INNOCENT

What if Sansa had actually been married to Joffrey soon after Ned's death? I'm imagining the key factor would be Tywin pushing for it to happen in order to tie up that loose end and definitely secure some sort of claim to Winterfell

I don't think Sansa would get killed. For one, Meryn would not want to admit that a little girl killed the king he was tasked to protect right under his eyes - if I admitted to this, he'd probably get executed as well. The other thing is, Varys and Littlefinger would just straight up refuse to let this happen, for... "tactical reasons". They need Sansa as a tool.

let be real Joffrey was coward king, yea he had the ball to be a fearful king but he had no backbone so if Sansa want to, she could have beat his ass and bully him but know cersei those, she would have her killed but what happened if those after they kill her dead ned, if I was Sansa, I would be plan his death, yea she may died but if Joffrey died alot shit would be avoid but one thing that won't it his brother will still stay over but if she had killed him much early in the season, the show would be different

With Joffrey dead tommen take the throne and he was not a military king between that and Tywin losing to Robb early in the field I imagine they sue for peace. However there is a good chance Cersei has her killed.
@cdcdrr5 күн бұрын
I think Selmy will still end up being dismissed. He was dismissed for failing to protect Robert, but the real reason was to make room for one of Cersei's stooges. With her losing her son earlier, she might be even more insistent he's dismissed for failing to protect Jofrey, despite him not even being there when it happened. And while it has been ruled out, if Sansa did opt for a trial by combat - possibly at the urging of the Hound, who stuck his neck out for her - there's a very clear cut outcome. While Selmy is a natural choice for Cersei's champion, if he's already been dismissed, that shrinks to pool of kingsguards who could do so. They are the ones naturally chosen for trials by combat involving the life and honour of the royal family. With the Hound having staked his reputation on Sansa's innocense, he's out of the question as Cersei's champion. But he's the only one present who would risk his life in a trial by combat for Sansa, because her guilt would carry over on him. Sandor doesn't have much choice but to fight. And that means he wins. While most of the remaining kingsguard are already worse than Barristan Selmy, their lack of testimony leaves them mostly neutral in this trial. But Merryn Trant is the only one directly disputing Sandor's claims that Jofrey fell. The entire arguement of Sansa's guilt hangs on his word. He would practically be bound by honour to represent Cersei as her champion. And while he's probably the worst pick of the bunch, Cersei isn't known for making smart decisions. Especially after Jofrey's death. Sandor would completely demolish an opponent like Trant, clearing his and Sansa's name in the eyes of gods and men. But not in the eyes of Cersei, of course. While she might have no legal recourse left to her, Sansa and the Hound would have to leave immediately before she can come up with a scheme to have them killed. And Sandor would likely return her to Robb. With Arya and Sansa back, Catelyn is not pushed into recklessly releasing Jaime. Lord Karstark does not kill the Lannister squires, and Robb retains his forces. But even with Jaime's life being spared, the Lannisters are still in freefall and Cersei's paranoia is at its peak, while Tyrion is still mostly level-headed. The War of Five Kings now remains a free-for-all.
@dr.lahlahroo47515 күн бұрын
I very much prefer your outcome to this what if scenario. It made no sense for Sandor to lie in defense of Sansa, only to have her eventually executed and the Hound simply dismissed. It was his word against that of Trant's. If Sansa would be killed because Cersei believed Trant's account, then Sandor would likely be questioned as well for possibly conspiring with Sansa. So it made more sense for him to insist that she opt for a trial by combat.

Most theories say he got captured on purpose to kill Ned on the way to the Wall. If he got to the Wall I’m sure he’d escape pretty easily. He’d probably kill a local guy near the wall and take his face as a disguise (maybe the old guy with the horses)

There’s still 0 reason for Theon to not go to the iron islands, the entire point of his character is that he’s a rat before he becomes reek and that’s his redemption, so just not having any of tht happen is a disservice to the story telling
@crimsonECH1DNA4 күн бұрын
I think the logic in this specific setting is he's seen Robb's army not only defeat and captured the guy lauded as the greatest swordsman in the realm, but also execute him. Just the little domino effect that that was the last impression he's seen of Robb so Balon's rant about Robb just being a boy playing at war would likely have less of an effect since Theon knows Robb is actually playing for keeps.
