@@PeterGriffin11 It's not just Smash & Pokkén, though, it's also Smash & Smash, with both the playable roster and Poké Ball roster to consider, not to mention if they ever start including Pokémon in Assist Trophies as well (although probably never going to happen, especially since it would make more sense to have the human characters of the Pokémon universe represent the franchise in Assist Trophies instead, like how Pokémon Trainer represents the humans of the franchise among the playable Smash characters). You're technically right that there are enough Pokémon to spread 3-4 ways into distinct rosters, however, choosing that many Pokémon for that many distinct roles, and deciding what their move(s) will be and how they will function depending on the games they're in and roles they play in each game, takes a lot of thought, work, and time, meaning that even if we head in that direction, the trickle of progress we're getting I'd still to be expected and not necessarily a sign of abandoning that sort of path imho.

Sir Flanksalot Is this a rhetorical question? Venusaur in my mind would function exactly like Ivysaur except with Bowser's speed, size, and perhaps a bit less power which is honestly enough. The up and down specials are already strong as hell on Ivysaur. Venusaur would take that to 11. As far a agility/dodging, yeah it will lose some of that but it will makeup for it in bulk, it's big shield, and power. It could work out perfectly fine if they keep it's size within already defined dimensions of smash. They said Ridley was too big but look at him now. On a side note, of all the pokemon I'd like to see get in, I think Gengar would be a perfect fit.

So maybe she could teleport you to the past and then Wigglytuff and all the guild members would destroy the opponent, and on a different occasion she could take you to the future where dusknoir and the sableye destroy the opponent. @@guitarguy3378 Well not exactly. That's just a coincidence. Vigoroth is my favorite Pokemon because it's a silly monkey sloth with cat ears and a big clown nose. It's also my favorite type and color and I have strong memories using it to power through emerald when I first played it. It's also funny and subversive seeing how it's a sloth but it's anything but lazy. I like that about it. My love for Grovyle is mostly due to the mystery dungeon franchise since I did not have cable to really watch the anime growing up.

I love that you mentioned Mystery Dungeon EoS! It is my favorite Pokémon game of all time too. I first thought of a moveset for Grovyle that he could use his signature Dig move like Greninja's Side Special and his Smash Attacks would use the traps we encounter on some dungeons, with Dunk effects and such. I myself have also been thinking of a grovyle moveset, although one primarily based around pmd explorers of sky Here's my idea: Neutral special: leaf blade, same as in video Side special: energy ball - like a 'low power' charge shot from samus, for example, that cannot be charged up, but can be held, if that makes sense. Of course the ball would be green Down special: dig - like a Kirby down special into a meta knight down special, with grovyle not being invulnerable while falling, dealing low damage whilst falling until a surface is hit, then disappearing underground, and emerging close by depending on where the joystick is pointed Up special: ? - not sure of grovyle's fourth move in pmd when he joins the team, but your idea sounded good Final smash: not got a name for it yet - grovyle (and maybe celebi and/or dusknoir) pull out a time gear, freezing other players in place, and for ten seconds (liable to change) , they take no knock back, but can be dealt damage, when the time period runs out, the frozen characters get all their jumps back and are treated as if they have not used a special move if in the air The moveset is based off grovyle's four moves when he joins your team in pmd That's all I got for now, tho might update later

I want to see a Decidueye moveset. The other pokemon are melee heavy. With Decidueye they would be like Robin a ranged character. Neutral B Spirit Shackle. Side B is stun spore, leech seed, poison powder, sleep powder trap or it rotates between the four like Shulk. Up B he uses is wings like Pit but also can shoot arrows at the same time down ward similar to an airstrike. Down B would evasion, similar to a counter but he dodges the attack and teleports far away, Decidueye is a ghost type. Decidueye grabs will be with grass knot as he isn't strong enough to physically hold them similar to Robin.

I'd rather Grovyle from the Mystery Dungeon games specifically as his own fighter with a moveset based around his appearance there. If I remember his correctly, his four moves there were Absorb (potential neutral special), Leaf Blade (potential side special), Quick Attack (potential up special) and Dig (potential down special). Of course, he brings along the Shiny Celebi also from those games, with her appearing in his entrance, taunts, and perhaps even coming out for Smash attacks. The Final Smash could involve Celebi opening up a portal in time to the bad future where a group of Sableye lie (referencing Dusknoir's lackies from said games) and swiping them up before they're thrust back out and launched.

Better idea for the Down Special, Leech Seed. Sceptile pulls two of the seeds off his back and throws them in a target direction (at different angles). The seed burrow themselves into the first surface they hit for a short period of time. If an enemy steps on a seed, or is hit by a seed in flight, the seed bursts into a mess of vines, staggering the target and applying a small Damage over Time effect. If Sceptile attacks a seeded opponent he will remove the DoT effect and heal himself for the damage dealt. Blaze Kick would basically be Captain Falcon's Falcon Punch or Ganondorf's Warlock Punch. Down B could be Flame Charge. It could work similarly to Captain Falcon's Falcon Kick or Ganondorf's Wizard's Foot.

Not the best moveset in my opinion. Sceptile needs to encompasses grass types so when you think grass types you think giga drain, stun spore, sleeping power, or leech seed. Instead of screech Sceptile could lay a trap, leech seed uses the pods in his back to drop them, if the enemy steps on it they take damage over time and Sceptile heals from damage. Maybe Sceptile can also pick up the leech seed and throw it similar to Diddy Kong or Banjo and Kazooie. Instead of leech seed the ability could be stun spore to stun enemy or sleeping power to put enemy to sleep.

I would absolutely love Sceptile as a Fighter in Smash Bros. That's pretty much a childhood dream for me. The moveset is great, it's like how I would design a moveset for a character for Smash Bros.; having about everything from attacks to taunts being a reference to something.

I want Grovyle to be even more PMD specific than that. And sorry, Time Gear does not slow down time. I believe Grovyle's Smash moveset should be his ingame moveset. Leaf Blade for neutral B-Works the same way as Lockstin describes Sceptile. Quick Attack for Up B-Kinda the same as Pikachu's but no glowing effects and move shorter distance like how it only covers 2 tiles. It can still move 2 times for better recovery though. Dig for Down B-This is perfect for Down B. Grovyle digs down for a few seconds and then jumps out to either strike one or both sides. Him jumping out can also cause damage to opponents above. Absorb or maybe Giga Drain for Side B-This can probaby be Grovyle grabbing an opponent and drain their HP and damages them. Or just some particle in front of him and that damages opponents, kind of like Mewtwo's Side B. Final Smash can either bring in Primal Dialga or Dusknoir and Celebi-Dialga uses Roar of Time and sweeps the entire stage, fitting since it is an AOE in the game. Dusknoir can use Shadow Ball since that's what he was ready to use in the "final battle". Celebi can probably use Ancient Power or Magical Leaf. And then Grovyle can also join in and slash every opponent with Leaf Blade, incorporating characters from the game. Time Gear doesn't really have a role in here because it only stops time when it's removed from somewhere. Besides, if Grovyle and Dusknoir are working together it means the Time Gears are already back on Temporal Tower. He doesn't have it. Additionally Grovyle should also have his own theme, Through the Sea of Time is perfect fit for that. It would be really cool to hear a Smash remix of that song. This way Pokemon Mystery Dungeon will be very well represented. That would be awesome. P.S. Great Hollow Knight shirt. That game is also awesome. Will you make a video on Hollow Knight anytime soon?

Hoenn trainer woulda been a better choice, been thinking of that moveset since Brawl. (Actually how my channel started) *cracks knuckles* Mudkip, a small but misleadingly heavy fighter that more about defense than offense. Unique for a small fighter. Probably around Zelda's weight (85) Neutral Special: Mud Bomb - Short range arcing projectile that makes a tripping puddle of mud where it lands Side Special: Muddy Water - Summons large wave from underneath and sends it in front of him as a large projectile. If the button is held, Mudkip can ride the wave for recovery. Up Special: Whirlpool - Invinsible Mach Tornado-esque attack. Grovyle, a speedy character on the ground that has decent range all-around. Pretty good jump height but not as mobile in the air due to incredobly fast fall speed. He's also not much heavier than Mudkip; same as Greninja (88) Neutral Special: Leaf Blade - Charges leaves around like you said but when released, Grovyle lunges forward like Marth's Shield breaker (cannot store charge) Side Special: False Swipe - Same as Fox Illusion but does only 1% damage. There is a sweetspot right in the middle of the slash that does insane knockback like Cloud's limit break Up Special: Quick Attack - Same as Pikachu, but with cutting properties instead of electricity Blaziken, well-rounded fighter that has great jump height and air mobility, a bit sluggish on the ground. She's the heaviest but would still be considered a midweight. (103, same as Ryu) Neutral Special: Blaze Kick - Blaziken does a fiery flip that creates a short range projectile like Cloud's Blade Beam Side Special: Brave Bird - Charizard's Flare Blitz but faster and less damage Up Special: Sky Uppercut - Shoryuken, but the sweetspot is at the peak of the jump. (like the games)

I did a concept for Leavanny as a Gen 5 rep a while back. She's a fast and frail fighter with only a couple strong attacks. Her general strategy for getting a K.O. would be to use String Shot to slow foes down enough that she could hit them with a smash attack or one of her powerful specials. Leaf Blade would be her side special; having considerable start up time, but really powerful knockback. Her down special, Solar Beam, would have a very high charge time and end lag in order to balance its insane range and power. I also thought it would be neat to give her Sunny Day as a Final Smash, meaning she could insta-fire Solar Beam 2 or 3 times for its duration. This would be kinda like Peach's Final Smash, where she's put into an advantage state rather than given a powerful attack.

I think Lycanroc would be a really cool fighter, and maybe instead of being separate, the forms could function more like Zelda/Shiek, and it could "Howl" to change forms, which would change the type of attacks and the shape of its hit box (Midday being horizontal, Midnight being vertical, and maybe Dusk being able to switch?). I also think it'd be fun to have "echo characters" as you called it for Pikachu being Pika-clones. Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu, Emolga, Dedenne, Togedemaru, maybe even Clefairy, or Marill for the "Pikablu" lulz.

Some things to add: 1) Sceptile should get leaf tornado as its up b while Grovyle should get leaf Storm. Now I know what you're thinking, "shouldn't grovyle get the better up b cause it's lighter?" Well, you could adjust according to weight and have leaf tornado do more damage. 2) I feel that Sceptile's down tilt could be a move that hits twice. Instead of using a bunch of frames for one hit, it could sweep with its leg and then its tail. The leg sweep could have a banana peel effect where the opponent trips and sits on the ground while the tail can launch into the air. Grovyle can just alternate legs I guess since it doesn't really have a tail. 3) Rapid jab could just be razor leaf 4) Screech is an interesting idea ,however, frenzy plant exists and grovyle could use leaf pledge. 5) More random spit balling, what if down air grounds opponents that are on the ground but only if you are high enough, too close and you won't ground them but too high and they'll see it coming.

I love the idea of Sceptile in Smash!!! For another Pokémon however, I thought for the longest time that it’d be cool to have Tapu Koko. It was a big icon for Alola, it’d be the first fighter to float, and we need more legendaries.

The next could be Torterra. The Neutral B is Rapid Spin, working similar to the grounded version of Bowser Up B, but is not multi-hit and have more vertical hitbox (because the tree) Side B is Wood Hammer, a power attack with Torterra's tree. Is very similar to Charizard Side B, but travel much less distance, do more damage and knockback and just have recoil damage if the move hit Down B is Earthquake a powerful but slow smash to the ground that can make nearby characters trip, as long as they are on the ground. If is used in the air is a powerful spike. Up B is Rock Climb, similar to Squirtle Up B but: -Is one hit -Is much more powerful -Have less vertical distance but more horizontal -Is slower -Have a gimmick that, if Torterra touch a wall instantly gonna climb automatically until it reach the top. Then you can choose to angling the stick upward to jump, side toward the stage to a normal get up or downward for simply grab the ledge (in case there is not ledge then Torterra will automatically jump when it reaches the top)
