Considering Lapis was used exclusively for blue dye back then, using lapis isn't quite as overpowered as one might think (then again, even in modern Minecraft lapis isn't used for much outside of enchanting).

Jeb did design a Trial Chamber a long time ago. It’s called a Dungeon and it is basically a single Cobblestone box with a spawner and a pair of loot chests… What passed for a structure and a “combat challenge” back then is way way different than today.

@@A-G-F- It was originally called a Dungeon and I still call it that sometimes... but the structure was never called a Spawner. If you are going to get all technical about it, the structure is called a Monster Room and the thing that spawns mobs is called a Monster Spawner.

I know that this was just a small little comment at the end, but I actually agree with the 'big lifeless structures' segment! I see too many minecraft youtubers say that they're 'improving your base' or 'improving current structures' by just... making them bigger- I don't see the point, really. Like yeah, big monoliths are cool and all... but it kind of defeats the whole statement "less is more".

I have a chest full of Redstone blocks and a chest full of lapis.... But they barely get touched. I don't use either one for anything. I get my enchantments from looting books, fishing and trading. My enchanting table barely gets used anymore tbh

This is the only flaw with the update; while eye beforehand it was kinda easy to get cooler, now it’s just free at this point, meaning it’s used in the future won’t be all that spectacular as there’s so much of it.

@@AuriPlayzz so true, i used to have to smelt cobble into stone, then use a crafting table to make stone bricks, but now all i have to do is find a stronghold and i have infinite stone bricks! Surely stone bricks will now become oversaturated in minecraft worlds and builds now that strongholds have been added :(

I always had a question about the building blocks for structures...The thumbnail reminds me of the thought of why mojang never really do anything with their other blocks, like the brick block for example, I know some people that dont even know bricks exist in the game...I wish they would make more structures incorporating bricks and/or other less used blocks./

This reminds me of when I tried to make an updated version of the dungeon in, I believe 2016, to try and use the new structure blocks. I called it, very imaginatively, the mega dungeon. I put four spawners in it instead of one, made it bigger than a dungeon, and then... uhh just never worked on it again and now trial chambers came out so... cool?

Just to let you know, from my series where I play in old versions, half slabs can only be placed on the bottom half (besides the double stacked one). And I noticed some slabs that were placed on the top half.

Just one small thing. Back then slabs couldn't be placed solely on the top half of a block space. they had to be on the bottom half first. so you couldn't have had those brick slabs on the top half.

This is exactly why I think Mojang should hold off on adding new building blocks for a few updates. There's so many new blocks in the game these days, it almost feels out of place that the new structures are exclusively new blocks.

IMO: Stone slabs Your build doesn't use slabs enough and I feel like with Mojang's previous attempts towards making areas distinct, I think they would've made a structure that used slabs a ton, which makes sense for this giant underground labyrinth with no greenery. I would've replaced the lights on the walls with little "windows", only some of which would contain glowstone. I know that breaks the rule of "Don't have stuff from the other dimension" but this feels like a good way of foreshadowing that block earlier by using it in this really rare structure.

I'd love to see this done with other big structures in the game, and imagine what they'd look like downgraded to older blocks. Structures like Ocean Monuments, Bastions and End Cities/Ships would be really cool to see reimagined with a much older block palette.

Weird fact: when i go into a trial chamber, it is usually in a deep dark because of its depth. When i go into said trial deep chamber dark, the sculk veins float. Prob a bedrock thing.

I feel like he genuinely should have just used cyan or blue wool. Desert temples used to use orange and blue wool before being replaced with terracotta in a later update, i dont see why this had to use lapis. It looks ugly, and its definitely completely out of the minecraft style, and thats before even touching on the overpoweredness of it.

I still think they wouldn’t have done lapis in a structure in such large amounts, because firstly they planned to do more with it they just didn’t know what And also even then, and still today amongst the old school Minecraft community, lapis has value as a status symbol. Like when you build with Diamond blocks, except lapis actually looks really good as an accent, given the blocks you have access to.

This is how that industry works; You make an innovative cool thing, it grows and becomes too big, you can't manage it yourself anymore (after all you're a simple programmer) so you sell it for in Minecrafts case several millions. So if Notch wouldn't have sell it to Microsoft, he would have sold it to another company, or he wouldn't have been able to keep up with the industry and Minecraft would have collapsed at it's size. So while Microsoft does some _shady praxises_ and weird decisions I think generally it's a good decision. Or to whom should have notch sell Minecraft else?
