Great question. I would never walk into a session without and idea of who the audience is. Do some due diligence first and walk in with your own idea of who they’re targeting. That said, with the right questions they should have the information you need.

You would want to perform your research before going into the workshop. The workshop will throw up ideas though if you're armed with your research, you can guide the workshop with confidence. You wouldn't provide a report, just use the information to guide the workshop.
