What is a sudden hearing loss?

A sudden hearing loss is when you suddenly or over just a few days experience a hearing loss in one or both of your ears.
If you experience a sudden hearing loss it is very important that you contact your doctor or an ENT-doctor as soon as possible.

I experienced sudden hearing loss in my right ear 20 years ago. I had no idea what had happened, and the doctor didn’t either. He referred me to an ENT who told me what it was, but didn’t offer any treatment. Perhaps there weren’t any treatments at the time. The loss in that ear was total and I haven’t regained any at all. I’ve adjusted pretty well to living with one ear, but it has made hearing in noisy environments very difficult.

I lost hearing in my left ear one week ago. How often should I get Intratympanic steroid injections during this critical early stage? I'm not taking oral steroids. Thank you!
